I have learned many things, some of them are what I would prefer not to know.
It is possible to find a good discussion on a regular basis in a forum, there is a lot of diversity on these forums so you can find a lot of different ideas and opinions no matter what the discussion is about.
Despite all pretences, a lot of users are trolls that are just as bad as those you will find on other forums, with the exception that they will generally type with better English than you can find elsewhere.
This gives the impression to others that The Escapist community is in fact more intelligent than other online communities where really there are just a lot of people who can grasp the use of basic communication in order to sound polite and sophisticated while insulting someone else for thinking differently.
Hypocrisy is sadly not uncommon as a troll thread is ironically posted in about a dozen times with "This is a troll, report and move on". The posters either not grasping the fact they are doing the opposite of what they claim, or their ego is so large that they cannot help but add another post to their list while pretending to be doing something helpful.
Hypocrisy extends even further. Many people on here complain that they are looked down upon/criticised for being gamers/geeks/nerds/having different interests, either by their friends, the preferred sex, society in general or their parents. Yet, they lovingly do the same to anybody who is different from them.
"Use the search bar" is almost like The Escapists pick-up line. It's all well and good politely reminding somebody that their thread has been done before, but there are a select group of people whose post count seems to contain little else but this phrase in every thread they can discover, I almost wonder if they specifically search for repeat threads to post it in.
That being said, these bad points do not (currently) outweigh the good and so these forums are an enjoyable place to post on and have some interesting discussions.

The internet isn't 100% full of idiots who curse at other people and argue over trivial things. (Most of it is, but this place is like a safe haven).
You are joking right? Mention the words Emo, Halo, Religion, Christianity and it's like the reasoning part of everybody's' brain snaps.

It's okay I don't much care for Max, he strikes me as shooting into forums saying something snide and running before his opinions can be challenged, but I'm new and opinionated.
Snide comments? Ok, fair enough(although they are usually deserved), but Max replies pretty much every time he is quoted so I can't agree with that.

I like how I was put on probation for sharing my honest opinion when asked for it. Way to go mods.
It was a bit of a blanket statement, and the mods are a little trigger-happy this week. I am wondering if it's any of the new three marking their territory.

I learnt how to be an intelligent, level headed, sophisticated, respectful and well spoken fanboy.
Or at least that's how I see myself.
Well you make more sense as a Halo fanboy than any of the Halo haters, so I'd agree.
