So it's the Escapist just recently turned four years old and I have joined only a month ago. However, as recent as I joined, I've blended in nicely and I've learned so much here.
I've learned about trolling.
I've learned how to avoid a flame war.
I've learned to use the search bar.
And I've learned that SPELL CHECK IS GOLDEN.
So I ask all the Escapists what have you learned here?
EDIT: I also learned that Max the Reaper has an odd and disturbing amount of popularity here on this site.

and other little text modifications on the forums.
How to compose a good post that will make people laugh while staying mostly on topic.
And where to go here when I want to babble like a madman.

And I'm quoting you so I can learn how to do them, if you don't mind.

...h1? h3? How do I remember that? Oh well, I'll commit it to memory.

Anyway, the Escapist has made me a good deal more eloquent (and believe me, I can be very eloquent when I actually try) and verbose than I once was (although I never was quite at the level of using internet shorthand, I was close before joining, I think I was already using things like FTW).

I've learned that not all forums are filled with mindless idiots. Some are filled with mindless idiots with a slightly larger vocabulary.
Indeed. Such is quite the case. Commendations to you for your understanding. Oh, and here's a cookie.

That threads about videogame sites themselves are as common as threads about videogames on the sites.

In all seriousness tho I learn stuff about videogames because that is my primary focus for coming on here. I hardly ever see any videogame related news during the day unless i watch G4 or go onto escapist. The fun threads are kind of an extra.

Indeed.
The Escapist has taught me that repeat threads are as common as the sunrise every morning, and that you can actually generate a discussion without somebody saying "lolwut."

These forums got me started on PC gaming, webcomics, Grammar Nazi-ism, and much, much more.

I'm glad to see that (at least one [of the]) newer members are quickly picking up on our traditions. You have earned a nod of approval for your adaptation to Escapist culture.
