Just finished Battlefield 3 and all I can say is............ not impressed, it was basically just Modern Warfare with a few different bits, have yet to play the multiplayer but tbh I don't play shooters online much because of the hacking and bots, plus the compleate IDIOTS the plague every shooter.

The Battlefield franchise has never been known for the single player campaigns. Up until Bad Company, there was no campaign mode. It is not suprising to find that the single player portion was lacking.

From what I've played of the multiplayer though, it's been rather enjoyable.

I recently saw a video of the campaign. I'm going to flat out say it: It feels way too much like a Modern Warfare game. Not because of the setting, but because of the way the scenarios play out. Way too similar.

I haven't seen the multiplayer side, but if they have destructible environments that they promised (PLEASE TELL ME THEY DO), then I have to say that they've won on multiplayer, if only because the people who are known as "CoDFags" (you know, the racist, stupid idiots assholes who plague the game who think Modern Warfare games are the only games worth buying) will be too busy playing Modern Warfare 3 to bother playing BF3 multiplayer.

Also, a computer whiz friend was saying that if I install BF3 and, therefore, Origin on a virtual machine, EA won't be able to spy on my machine, only what's on the virtual machine. Please tell me that's true! I want this game!

By the way, one thing you gotta admit: Battlefield 3, even on low settings, is really fucking amazing in the graphics department! <:-O

Gonna be honest and say it's another war game, with hell loads of scripted events and far too many quick time events, but with amazing sound and graphics...

It has a good multiplayer but overall it's nothing that hasan't been done before....

I think the campaign was pretty fun although short. The multiplayer is very fun although sometimes you get the morons.

Now I just have to fix the problem with it crashing and I could play for hours uninterrupted.

Its true, but you better have a sweet setup. Running something like Virtual Box will suck up a lot of resources. Then add a game like BF3. Well, I don't get the game till tomorrow, but the graphics look quite intense to be double running operating systems like that.

How is the multiplayer? I haven't played since the original 1942 I'm just getting back in. Does everyone still just go off and do there own thing? Is there a such thing as dog-fighting in the sky or is it all lock on and shoot now?

Thus far joining a game online has been my biggest gripe(PS3 user here). In Bad Company 2. I'd select "Quick Match", join a game and stay there until I'd leave. Now "Quick Match" leads to the "Lost connection" message and staying in a game has proven quite the challenge.

I assume this is a case of day 1 hiccups (I live in Europe) and all manner of patches might fix my problems and any netcode bullshit, but as it stands now, BF3 did not impress.

yeah... campaign sucks.
they took the interrogation thing from BO (although without the torturing and annoying flashes, thank fuck for that), pretty much every 2 minutes you have to wait for someone else to open a door for you, or move somewhere to trigger the next scripted event. It's seriously the most linear, scripted game I've played since ever, as far as I can remember. any more linearity and it's a goddamn railshooter. the bits where you get to shoot a tank are alright but other than that it's a ride on a broken escalator where you have to use QTE's to get it going again... no thanks. I doubt I'll play through it a second time.
I know battlefield is mainly a multiplayer series, but this crap is just embarassing. they weren't even trying to hide the fact that they ripped off CoD... Bad Company 1 proved they know how to make a damn good campaign so not putting a little more effort into it is just embarassing.

I don't have the game, but I played my brother's copy on my PS3 to see if it constantly disconnected me like BC2 did and I wasn't really impressed. It was a shit start, I tried joining a game on Caspian Border but was disconnected and put back to the main menu, I then tried again and ended up on some random map on a highway at night time. I immediately noticed the map sucked balls and the destruction engine was still just as shit and picky as before, I got in a tank and as I was pulling into the road to go to the base I got stuck on the corner of a bus stop, halting my tank to a stop. After reversing out of the trap I proceeded to the base, fired a few shells and the game froze completely.

I restarted it thinking "shit happens" and successfully joined a game on Caspian Border and played a few games without any problems. That's not to say my issues with the game are limited to glitches, the game itself is average. I'm already bored of FPS's, but that's not because everything that comes out is bad, they're just so similar and uninspired. Battlefield is no exception, it doesn't really do anything new to impress me, and with every new FPS release I'm only getting more and more bored of the genre. It's like when COD4 came out and I loved it, then they released WaW and I was like "eh, it's not as good as COD4", then they released MW2 and I was like "huh, this is worse than WaW?", and then they released Blops and I was like "what the fuck is this shit". I hate to bring COD into this but I'm not arguing over content, I'm arguing that it's not getting worse or a bad game, it's just stale or becoming stale. I actually prefer BF as a franchise because I like the sandbox combat, but even that gets repetitive.

I wish I could say "fuck this game I'ma play something else", but it's more "fuck FPS's I'ma play something else".

Unless it's on XBOX and incompetent planning means that you have to download a 4MB patch. And then you can't download the patch, at which point it looks like playing half-life 2 with an old teabag over one eye and a grey jumper over the other. *seethe*
Wait, why would anyone want to buy BF3 on XBOX360? The hardware on that system was outdated years ago.

I don't see why graphics should make it so special though.....
It doesn't make it special, but it helps justify the investment of a top-of-the-line gaming rig. I mean, it makes no sense to build a $1,500+ rig with all the goodies like a hexacore processor, 16GB of RAM and a big, fast GPU like a GTX 580 or an ATI 5970 and mostly play games like Doom, Wolfenstien 3d, Quake, Myst 1, Fallout 1 and uncountable browser-based games. If you have a good rig, you should play games that look out of this world on their highest settings. That is why Crysis, Battlefield 3 and Metro 2033 exist. :)

The multiplayer is glorious now that I've finally fixed the crashing problems : D

Oh right, people still hijack troop transports and drive out of the base without transporting people.
Seriously? I really thought people would learn to pick up others after all these years.

Love it. Brings back the memories of why I lost a good chunk of time to BF2 & BF2142
I am none of those "multiplayer only" people so a crappy SP doesn't affect my opinion of the game. I sense another 200-300 hours of my time going to this game.

IMO the singleplayer is just rubbish. At first it seemed like a rail shooter but as I kept playing I found that it was just an interactive movie. If this is the way Modern military shooters are going I would much prefer they just stop making a singleplayer and put that money into the multiplayer aspect of the game (while lowering the price $10-15)

That said, the multiplayer is awesome, Im a little annoyed about how the classes changed from Bad company 2 but its nothing I cant adjust to
