I have yet to hear anything about this game besides the constant previews from the Escapist videos. Well it has come out so is it good, bad, ugly? I mean I might actually be interesting in buying it if it isn't a pile of....So would it be worth the buy? (Now before you comment on this, you either have to have first or second hand knowledge of the gameplay before making a comment. Blind wisdom is not acceptable.)

Add the Meh? answer for don't really care/undecided.
Warhammer Online, like most MMORPG's upon release is quite buggy so people are waiting till they add more to it.

Well...looking around ze internetz...most of the ratings seem to be around the 7.5-8.5/7/10-8/10 mark, so, it's looking to be pretty decent. However, a lot of review sites don't seem to have their final scores and reviews actually up yet, so maybe check Gamespot or Metacritic or something over the next few days. Otherwise, if you think you'll like it, just get it. I think it comes with 30 days of playtime anyway. Although, it's almost the price of a full price game, so that kind of put me off, I'm planning on waiting till next year or so to give it a try, that way, they'll probably also have fixed a lot of things that may be wrong with it, or it could tank and I don't buy it :D

I refused to touch WoW for fear it would destroy my life. So many years later i've decided i'm; a) missing out b)able to control myself. So i've bought Warhammer. If you want the opinion of someone that never touched WoW, but did try other MMO's you didn't have to pay for (Archlord and Guild Wars), it's a lot of fun. The lower levels are somewhat repetitive but i reckon it's a good thing. It means that if your willpower is otherwise a little lacking, you can just stop playing for a while.

In my opinion the most important thing Warhammer brings to the table is how passionate the devs are about it. They've gone on gold farmer banning crusuades only days after launch. In the works are four more capital cities and more classes. As they put it though their first priority is getting things balanced, and then adding new content. It's fun for the time being, but it's going to be getting a lot of extras over the next few months as well.

My mate is in the beta and IT IS AWESOME... or so I have been told..I'm studying so i would have seen it by now
Um... it's been out of beta for a week now.

Anyway, I think WAR is tons of fun. The gameplay is generally like most other MMO's, but they've cut down on the frustration/grind factor of PVE. If you have a collect X items quest, the drop rate is always 100%, and most quests involve either killing a set number of enemies, going to a specific place/talking to a character or using an item in a specific spot.
Public quests are a bit like very small instances, but they are part of the general landscape and you gain rewards (XP and faction influence) from simply going to the place where it's going on and start bashing on things (or whatever you're supposed to do). If you stick around for the whole quest (and there are enough people to complete it), you gain a chance of a material reward as well. The system is very fair and fun, and I've yet to see anyone complain that they didn't win anything because you always get something, even if it's just influence with a faction. Influence unlocks sweet loot.

As for RvR (PvP), it's been a little stale so far, but I only just made it to Tier 2. The transition between PvE and PvP areas is quite smooth and well integrated in the general gameplay. A nice concept is also that you can earn XP and gold solely for doing RvR, which means you can stick to PvP if that's all you want to do. Sort of like Guilds Wars, but with no real distinction between PvE and PvP. The "battlegrounds" areas feel a lot like the ones in WoW. Not terribly fun IMO.

I love it. I never feel like I have to do anything at any time. Just do whatever you feel like doing whenever and the game will always reward you for it.

Did my first public instance last week (Mount Gunbad) and that was pretty damn sweet. It's an entire zone anyone can enter with it's own PQs and influence metre. It's like a public WoW raid (wont get far without the cohesion of a real guild, but the only real thing stopping you from pugging it is it's so far out of the way nobody but entire groups will go there). I've yet to see some dest vs Order warband fights in there yet, but they may crop up as the average player level catches up.

From what I think... The MMORPG looks good and even if there are glitches, they could patch to fix.

The only thing I've encountered that I dislike of the whole game is how blue and purple gear is pretty much the same as green gear! The rare items never feel especially powerful and there is always an upgrade at the next chapter...

I have played it the last week and so far the experience has been very good, no glitches, bugs whatsoever.

I've seen some pretty bizarre things. NPC models stretched completely out of proportions because of graphic bugs (pretty scary, actually), enemies don't run when it is stated they do, they just stop attacking and stare at you, combat is choppy at times... but I like the way you are detected by mobs, it feels very well done. For instance, in a cave I walked under a natural archway with a mob standing just over me. In most games, he would have rushed out over the edge and attacked me due to proximity. But he didn't because clearly, he couldn't see me, even though I was technically quite close to him.

I haven't played it, but I do think someone posted a review a week ago... that might help you out.

EDIT: Yep, they did. Here [http://www.escapistmagazine.com/forums/read/326.71191].

NPC's are surprisingly smart in Warhammer Online, its a good change to see them putting effort into MMORPG AI.

I like how on the WoW Forums, people who were mad at Blizzard over one change or another would start proclaiming like a bum with a doom's day sign that they just couldn't wait for Warhammer Online to come out because of the droves of players who would migrate over to the game. "WoW = Waiting on Warhammer" was the common slogan.

And now the game's come out and barely anyone noticed.

Warhammer will always be better as a RTS than an MMO, even if it was completly without bugs and runs smoothly, the RTS's will always be more enjoyable.

From what I've heard, it's slightly above average. But I've heard very little of the so-called WoW killer, and it'll probably go the way of AoC.
