Yeah, this pretty much. The design has always been bad. It's a little worse now. But if I'm going to get bent out of shape over it, there are thousands of other sites that I'd have to rage at too. If they ever want to ask my input on an update before going live with it, I'd be happy to tell them why their designs are terrible, but otherwise I might as well just bite my tongue and deal with it.FalloutJack said:

This site just keeps getting uglier and more of a pain in the ass to browse with every layout overhaul.
I don't mind it... Sometimes the forum drop down menu obscures the profile button but apart from the it's probably actually a little better, in my opinion.

The first time they changed it, it was ok.
This newer change though... Well, it's kind of messy imo and it is harder to navigate.
I feel that there are some articles I end up missing because of how it is now.

OT - The forum does seem to be a little narrow, but that's mostly likely an issue with my work computer, given that it's fine at home.
Point of order: the design is less intuitive, I agree. But it loads lightning fast compared to how it used to load. Not that I'd call how it loads now "fast," but it used to load glacially slow. Now if only they'd fix the problems on the back end that cause newly uploaded content (new threads, posts, badge order changes, etc.) to take forever to propagate so they can actually be seen...
There are problems with the site, but I'm just relieved that it's been like 8 months since one of the Escapist's freaking ADS has crashed my freaking browser. That's a huge step up in design for me, as I don't need to reboot my browser 50 times to watch Feed Dump or Zero Punctuation.
Additionally, this site is MUCH faster now, and I can't remember the last time I saw the server hamsters overload.
Though whoever thought less intuitive was a plus should be fired. Or at least sent to where they belong, Apple.

Why, I do believe I know what the issue here is: You've been gone a while, and now that you've come back it's far from what you remember and as such are having some difficulties adjusting.
Because this is actually one of the easiest sites I've been made to navigate around.

I'm guessing you've been gone for a bit and have just come back and are now having difficulties adjusting. Once you get used to it, you'll be fine.
It had a few initial hiccups, but now this site runs as smooth as shit from a duck's ass.
The fact that the Forum scroll is right above the Profile scroll can be a bit annoying though.

I still think that from a designers perspective this site its lay-out is awful. This forum is nicely narrow and in the middle of the screen, because for some odd reason the escapist has not caught up to the fact that everyone uses widescreen these days. Seriously, how often do you still see a monitor that is square?
Anyway, I'm happy I'm not completely alone, those of you who argue that it is better either say it's better than it was, but that doesn't mean it's good, OR say you have to get used to it.
And I disagree, if you have to get used to it, it's bad design. Because that's pretty much saying it's not intuïtive, and you have to learn the site.

Every Website no matter what they are will at some point get a redesign apperance so this site is no different from any other. Heck even Google look different to what it was years ago.
Also how else do you think they're going to make profit since the Escapist is a business like other websites out there.
