it really has to be the tv, because it looks like i can see the health sphear/map thing of Alan Wake on the top left corner.
It's not the TV I've tried it on 2 TV's already using the HDMI cable and the Standard Definition cable and it's always been the same thing.

Certain games appear to bring out certain glitches in the 360. For instance, occasionally my xbox will fail to realize that I put a disk in it. It happens about once a month (I think my xbox is PMSing), and I have to re-insert the disk four times for it to work. It happens no matter what game I play, but not that often. However, MW2 seems to make it do this 1/4th of the time I put it in.

In all seriousness though, Is it your TV? Do you have sound?
Oh yeah I have perfect sound it's just the screen. I can hear everything in the game clearly but 5 minutes into gameplay and the screen will start to screw up.
Tried the tv with other hdmi input devices like a ps3 or an external hard drive recorder?

Yep, this is the precursor to the E74 error.

It's done for.

And the craigslist recommendation, I did that and it didn't end up too good. It was fixed for 50 bucks and worked for about another week. Then I ended up buying a new XBox Arcade for $199 and putting my old hard drive on it. And I sold the other one on Craigslist for 50 bucks.

P.S. I'll buy Alan Wake from you if you can't play it anymore :)
I already made up my mind, ask Microsoft if they can fix it and get a straight answer, if not I'll buy a new one.

HA! D:< You wish buddy!

My only recommendation, as my friend did this and we're pretty sure it saved his 360, is leave it off for a day or two, let the machine cool down. His didn't get as bad as yours appears to be, so I have no idea if it will work, or if that is really what fixed his, but at this point it seems you have nothing to lose.

I had this problem for about 2 hours of constant trying before i got 1 red light and E74. It's a similar problem to RROD but with the GPU instead.

'Fraid it's probably busted and not covered by warrantee.

Well maybe if you would've just gotten your ass to the fuckin' lighthouse this wouldn't have happened!

OT: Your xbox is insured for 3 years specifically for the red ring of death. Anything else is 90 days.

Anyways. I don't know how to help but it is odd that the text is so clear and other stuff is so blurry. I would contact MS for this thingy.

Yeah that's something else that I forgot to mention, the pause menu in any game will be clear.

A day ago I was playing Alan Wake (Great game I might add) anyway I played it nonstop since I got it, now for some reason while I was playing it my screen started doing this:

At first I thought it was the game, but later on in the day when I tried to play Left 4 Dead 2 it did the same thing. I thought it was the wire but my HDMI wire worked fine with my brothers xbox so did my standard definition wire.
I thought it was my tv but this thing is new and once again didn't do the same thing with my brothers xbox.
So I know it's the Xbox, but what is the problem? I've had people tell me it's my graphics card and others tell me it is my video card.

Another question, will Microsoft fix this? I'm out of warranty but I heard warranty only applies to the RROD and that other popular error.
Any help would be great.

Edit: Another important detail, it does this faster on Alan Wake, and most of the time the screen will start looking like that when I'm in gameplay in all of my games.
That is exactly what my xbox did after I played through MW2. Then the next time I started it up it gave me the E-71 error or what ever number it is and then RRODd on me.
