Okay so I just watched a Sam Raimi interview about how pumped he is to be making a World of Warcraft movie. There are 40 pages already written but it is still a work in progress with the script. So with the game being so vast and the people that play it scarier than the monsters themselves what should be in the movie?

Wait... What?

There's a fucking movie coming out?

I have a sneaking suspicion that there are high amounts of troll in the area.

I think just a Warcraft movie (the RTS games) would be better. Or regular Warhammer. I won't see it no matter what it is though, since even movies I want to see I don't get to.

Nothing I think it is an awful idea to make a movie out a MMORPG especially one like WoW. I know there is a slight story in it but there is really not enough there to make a decent story unless they are going to take a lot of elements from Warcraft. Overall I think this is a horrible idea. So to make it anyway decent they will need to follow Warcraft.

Besides some snickering cameos, I hope it WON'T be about Arthas.
I mean, that chapter is closed now, let him rest in the deepest parts of hell.

What I do want to see, is the new horde's way of life.
The shamanistic, honourable orcs. Not some blood crazed horde, because they need a clear bad guy.

Also, I want to see Rhonin dead, and impaled on a spike made from his own ribs, but I might be overreacting a bit now.

Naked dancing female Night Elves.

That is all.

And Bruce Campbell, Bruce Campbell, possibly not as a female Night Elf, but he should be associated with them.

Yep, there is. No troll here. It was announced... a year and a half ago? I think?

As for the topic at hand, I think it just needs to be kept as far away from the game side of things as possible. Any hilarious references to how you don't need to sleep, or how you can't eat food of a certain level, will just ruin it in my opinion.

Why WoW? Why not a movie about one of the RTSs? Those have an actual story to make into a movie, and quite a decent one too.

At some point there needs to be someone dancing in their underwear on top of a postbox. Even if it's just a 2 second throwaway in the background.

Aside from that? Bleach, for my brain.

I'm going to guess a focused story, being the countless amount you can fit and have been fit into the whole fantasy-world mythos.

Besides the cash-cow thing, i'm not sure what'll accomplish. To a fandom audience, it will seem unsatisfactory reworking a linear story into two hours while they try to find all of their beloved refrences, and to a mainstream audience, it'll seem like Lord of the Rings ripoff material.

It's good as a video game; It should stay that way.

I'm pretty certain you could pull a story out of it. There's a villain somewhere, we want to kill him. It's pretty basic, which would probably give the writers a lot of room to add their own angle on things, rather than the story already established in the RTS games.

Whilst there is a lot of story and lore behidn WoW and the RTS games, (www.wowwiki.com) it doesn't strike me as being able to make a film based on the games.

War of the sands, maybe, some other lore event, maybe. But not the games, if the film does the game even a sligh bit different the rabid fanboys will tear it to pieces.

Unless it's done by Bruce Campbell. Then it will be awesome.
But... but... there has to be some sort of logical paradox preventing a good actor and an awful concept coming together!

Well, I had figured, since the WoW-bashing above and below me were present... Oh well.

Anyways, I honestly think that a Warcraft movie should be done by Blizzard themselves. Sure, Sam Raimi is an awesome director, but game movies almost never turn out well, and if it were Blizz in charge of their own lore, it might actually have a chance. Also, the reason why I say Warcraft movie, is because it should be a Warcraft movie, since it actually had a plot. Sure, you can angle a storyline out of nothing, but it won't be as good, more than likely.

That being said, let me re-iterate: Games should stay games.
