2 things and 2 things only:

1: the car
2: a Bruce Campbell cameo

----

Bruce: "I was like you once...I didn't know what a Knight-Elf Mohawk was, now look at me!"

----

in all seriousness, I have no idea as I am not a fan of any Warcraft game. Haven't played a single one and likely won't ever either.

Wait... What?

There's a fucking movie coming out?

I have a sneaking suspicion that there are high amounts of troll in the area.
Yep, there is. No troll here. It was announced... a year and a half ago? I think?

As for the topic at hand, I think it just needs to be kept as far away from the game side of things as possible. Any hilarious references to how you don't need to sleep, or how you can't eat food of a certain level, will just ruin it in my opinion.
Unless it's done by Bruce Campbell. Then it will be awesome.
But... but... there has to be some sort of logical paradox preventing a good actor and an awful concept coming together!
Ahh, but that only works for non-Bruce Campbell actors. Bruce Campbell + Bad Idea = Awesome. He can take any role and make it awesome.
I take that as a challenge!

Hmm... an impossible role...

Damn, I can't think of any. Maybe you're right.

I bet I know who and what the movie will be about:

Turalyon and Alleria from Warcraft 2, both who have been conspicuously MIA ever since the events of 'Dark Portal' despite being two of the most powerful characters in the Warcraft universe and all the other characters from that game having long since been 're-discovered'. Turalyon remains the Supreme Allied Commander of the Alliance if he's still alive, making him the official leader of the Alliance as a whole, and Alleria Windrunner is a legendary Elf ranger, staunch supporter of the Alliance (And who'd probably be damn pissed to discover the Elves joined Horde) and older sister to Sylvanas, leader of the Forsaken. Talk about a spicy setup!

My bet is the movie will be about them. I doubt Blizzard is going to be creating whole new characters for the movies nor are they going to do one about current characters because they wouldn't want to mess with the current games timeline. But these two have a whole 'lost in space' adventure going on that's basically a get out of free card to writers for doing almost anything they want while still focusing the story properly on a proper pair of protagonist. Absolutely perfect setup, a film director couldn't ask for better when working in an already established setting.

Blizzard has even stated that the movie will be focused on Alliance characters, in order to better empathize with viewers who aren't familiar with the setting and as a result might be turned away by orcs, trolls and the like. And these two are as Alliance as you can get!

There's even been some hinting and foreshadowing. One NPC babbles about vague premonitions of the two being 'in great danger, pain, constant battle' etc against a force we don't know about yet. Could you ask for a better premise?

They managed to get Sam Raimi to do a video game movie?

Huh. That's impressive.

It will still suck though, Raimi or no Raimi.

Anyway, the only thing I ever liked about Warcraft were the horde races. So hopefully the movie will include some small blue guys with tusks and Jamaican accents. A few orcs and some of those cow people wouldn't go astray either. Anything but elves and dwarves.

It needs night elves in bikinis dancing on top of mailboxes, and a few hundred people in stupid armour yelling "NEED HEALER AND DEEPEE ESS FOR ULDUAR SLASH W GEE ESS" and other equally inane things.

I think just a Warcraft movie (the RTS games) would be better. Or regular Warhammer. I won't see it no matter what it is though, since even movies I want to see I don't get to.
This. It can be a good movie with a good plot buuuut seems like the RTS had a really solid plot anyway which seems perfect for a film. Apparently its going to be based on the WOW comic so whatever.

The movie is actually simple to make. Just steal from the rich lore and make a movie out of it!? How is that for an idea. It's all there. Wotlk for example would be totaly easy to turn into a movie. There is so much story going on that fits the movie criteria.

Only problems i foresee:
1) sam raimi
2) bad cgi
3) stupid game references
4) live actors (WORST possible option. Worse than stickmen)

The movie should just tell a part of the warcraft lore and tell that part well. Nothing more. No raid, pvp or game references. No "we did this scene to please the fans" stuff.

I was pretty sure it was just called 'Warcraft' and they'd already said it wasn't going to be based on WOW, but on earlier Warcraft lore.

My suggestion, although it'll not happen as Hollywood is too obsessed with live action and getting 'big names' on screen, would be let Blizzard's CGI cut scene people craft the whole movie, it'd be made in house, with no limitations, and I personally think WOW's intros and cut scenes are epic, and of course animation means no dodgy bloke in a funny wig with plastic tusks on to represent trolls.

rumours I heard would be that the first movie would be from an alliance perspective because 'we have to appeal to non gamers, and therefore would need a human hero', but if it went well, a horde themed movie could be a sequel.

Ok, a lot of people here don't like WOW, but Blizzard tend to take care of their intellectual property, and don't release games until they're done, we can hope that ethos will transfer over to the movie.

and if it were Blizz in charge of their own lore
Have you seen how badly Blizz has raped their own lore? It's changed and been contradicted at so many points that WoW looks nothing like WC 3.

OT: After Spider-man 3 I have no faith in Raimi and I'm pretty sure this will suck.

I know the 'cool' thing to do is bash Warcraft, but that's my hope as well!

This could actually be the first good video-game movie, if only because Blizzard are insanely protective of their brands and have a habit of pulling the plug on projects if they don't meet their standards. Seriously, they're the only studio I can think of that's ever canceled two nearly-complete games not because they ran outta funding, but because they just didn't like the direction the games were going. We're talking millions of dollars sunk into these games, years of work, all scrapped because it didn't meet Blizzards standards.

As for what it'll be about: Still think my theory on what the movie will be about makes the most sense. The absence of those two characters from World of Warcraft or any books, comics, or anything else is just too damned conspicuous to be a convenient misstep, especially when Blizzard have made it well known they haven't forgotten the characters through including mentions throughout both WOW and even in the books apparently, although I've never read em.
