Whats needed for Sam Raimi's upcoming World of Warcraft movie?

The movie is actually simple to make. Just steal from the rich lore and make a movie out of it!? How is that for an idea. It's all there. Wotlk for example would be totaly easy to turn into a movie. There is so much story going on that fits the movie criteria.

Only problems i foresee:
1) sam raimi
2) bad cgi
3) stupid game references
4) live actors (WORST possible option. Worse than stickmen)

The movie should just tell a part of the warcraft lore and tell that part well. Nothing more. No raid, pvp or game references. No "we did this scene to please the fans" stuff.

I'm inclined to mostly agree with the first problem. After the atrocity that was Spiderman 3, and that REALLY cheesy exorcism scene in "Drag me to Hell" I have little to no faith in Raimi. Then again the only time I had any was with the first 2 Spiderman movies.

I have to agree with both of you. Raimi...ugh. He'll ruin it.....MARK MY WORDS!!!

A Warcraft movie would work but only with the original warcraft games. Specifically warcraft III because that is when the most important character in the game (Arthas) is made into the lich king.

Making a WoW movie however is not as good an idea but it could still work. Need a hero for the main character? Sure just choose a random actor and they could become the hero. Need supporting characters that are also heroes? Same thing. Of course there is also the whole different races thing but surely they wont do something as cheap as using CGI to create a gnome or dwarf.

Worry for the orcs because chances are they are going to be animated, they probably are also going to be the enemy (just saying). Thrall MUST be in it.

Warcraft III would probably make the best movie... a World Of Warcraft movie doesn't make any sense at all, considering each gaming experience is different.

My hope is the story based upon the rise of the scourge and having both horde and alliance setting aside there differences. The whole green skin bad humans good thing is typical and boring in my opinion.

I think just a Warcraft movie (the RTS games) would be better. Or regular Warhammer. I won't see it no matter what it is though, since even movies I want to see I don't get to.

But yes, is there a link to this interview that we can see? Sam Raimi is one of my favorite peoples of all times, would be cool to see him make more game adaptations because he's obviously talented enough to pull it off.

Illidan... Arthas... If it takes place in the time of WoW, it will need the influence of the forsaken, possibly some dark portal stuff, thrall running ogrimmar, and how the king of the humans isn't there.

What conflict will the movie have? I assume Illidan and Arthas will be the main ones.

Why WoW? Why not a movie about one of the RTSs? Those have an actual story to make into a movie, and quite a decent one too.

Are you serious? Thats just pure hate against WoW. Its movie so there is no RTS/MMORPG and story is probably gonna be something that wasnt done in any warcraft game yet and lack of sotries in WoW can actually result into something new. We dont need to see movie about something we have already played.

Pfffft, he is not no name, he was at the very least one of two top contenders for the new "Mad Max" in Mad Max: Fury Road. That is probably a higher profile film than Warcraft, and that is like being the new James Bond. It means he is an incredibly good actor.

It's an interesting concept but I'm worried that it will turn out quite poorly. It is an MMO after all.

Not only will they make millions, but they will save money on makeup...People who would play that long will look like the forsaken anyway !
So yeah, that was my punch-line.
