Save Points.......from any rpg.
Preferably one that you don't have to go somewhere to use.
Does everybody get to use them? I mean, if everyone got to use them then there are a whole host of different problems that arise. Are we aware when someone else reloads a save? Are we only aware if the saver has interacted/affected with us in some way since s/he last saved? Is only the saver aware of the change?
I mean, if people except the saver aren't aware, then as long as two people want to different outcomes from the same thing, then they'll keep reloading consantly and time will never progress forward (well it might, when one becomes impatient enough to give up, but I have a feeling that impatience wouldn't be a problem, but I just woke up so I can't be bothered thinking about it hard enough).
Or, if everyone is aware of the reloading then people will get royally pissed off and try and destroy the system or find some way of monitoring who uses it then hunting them down and killing them.
The best option would be that anyone affected within that timespan by that saver (in some way at all) remembers so that they can help the saver succeed, or fail (depending on the cirucmstances). This is probably the best option, as time won't be halted forever, and even when it is halted for long times no-one is bothered unless they are involved somehow. This way, we'd live in a world where everything works out as perfectly as possible for everyone.
OT:
I think Jean's abilities would be awesome (as long as I can control it). Imagine the defensive capabilities, and if you can control anything then you could essentially mimic Wolverine's healing abilities to prevent you from aging. I'd rarely use it offensively (I don't like hurting people, and being able to omnipotently prevent harm there would be very few reasons to use it, and I'd imagine her telepathy could solve those problems), and I'd be able to do incredible and amazing things in law enforcement or the military or any of those physical jobs where telepathy and telekinesis would help.Screw it, telekinesis ruins the fun of everything. I'd take Wolverine's healing ability (and live forever!) and just have life magic (see the next bit).
As for the world ... maybe add a touch of magic to the world. You know, animal familiars, dragons, healing magic, nothing so powerful that someone could defeat me, but enough to spice up life (and if people had varying forms of magic, then there wouldn't really be a problem with resources or global warming or anything, because hell, someone could probably purify water, or absorb excess thermal energy, or promote crop growth, or have techokinesis or something).
