What's so cool about Boba Fett?

This is something that has always confused me about Star Wars fans. Why do they consider Boba Fett to be such a cool character? (I actually consider myself a Star Wars fan as well, but it's something I've never shared with the rest.)

Boba Fett never really does anything in the movies except stand around looking cool, and he dies in a really stupid and embarrassing way. So I don't really understand why there's so many comics and books and stuff about him. (Apparently he's still alive.)

Anyone care to explain?

There's a lot more stuff in the expanded universe about him and the Mandalorians which apparently makes a lot of fans gigglesquee.

But really I have the same problem with Boba Fett that I do with Master Chief, guy tries to act so cool that he never becomes a real character (no I'm not starting a flame war I genuinely find Master Chief to be a boring character)

Generally, it's because he stands around looking cool. He gives off the whole "Badass" vibe, even if he doesn't actually do anything.

It also doesn't hurt that according to the lore, he's one of a handful of "normals" able to successfully fight force users and win.

Because he has a cool helmet. Having a cool helmet automatically makes you awesome, regardless of all other factors.

If you disagree, your helmet is obviously insufficient.

I'd say he's more of a mercenary/bounty hunter.

And we all know that all mercenaries/bounty hunters are cool people. Even in real life!

Also, what truly ISN'T cool in Star Wars in the slightest are the Jedi. Over-powered, plot protected fuckwads with no true flaws at all. And what's worse: they strive towards being as inhuman as possible, yet still always end up on the "good side" of things.

They might've been a bit interesting if their ways of trying do deny themselves of all feelings actually made them to make pretty inhumane and almost "evil" decisions. But they still get to be the heroes of the story all the frigging time.

The Jedi are all the Mary-Sue's of Star Wars. And I hate them for it.

Though seeing him as a child did somewhat kill the respect I had for the helmet.

That's something I've been asking myself for the past 15 years, from what I can tell he seems to have the same strange disorder that inflicts almost every single person who's ever associated with the Empire. Like most Imperial henchmen, in the movies he stands there looking awesome while we're TOLD that he's a total badass, but we're never actually SHOWN that he's a badass. But with Boba it's worse because he doesn't even get killed on purpose, he dies because Han blindly slammed into him and sent him flying straight into the man-eating vagina metaphor I mean, Sarlacc.

Everywhere else however he's a fucking monster, ever play Shadow of the Empire on the N64? He is the hardest boss in the game and he's at the end of one of the hardest levels I have ever played. Boba Fett in Shadow of the Empire is literally the only game boss I have never beaten without help.
