What's so cool about Boba Fett?

I think his dad's a lot cooler. He was a bad ass Mandalorian warrior. Kickass personality, totally cook weaponry and armor, the template for the clone army.

Boba, I don't see the coolness so much, he just walks in his fathers shadow a little.

He does his job well, has a kickass suit and has a jetpack. A recipe for success in my book.

Also:

"Why do you wear a mask? Were you burned by acid or something?"

"Oh no. It's just they're terribly comfortable. I think everyone will be wearing them in the future."

He's got a cool set of armor, a badass gravely voice (at least in the original version) and a jetpack. Also, he's a bounty hunter. That's four kinds of awesome all rolled into one.

Honestly though, I don't care about Boba Fett that much, mostly because you never actually see him do anything in the films. He just stands around 80% of the time, and the one time he participates in a fight ends up with him being defeated by a partially blind man who doesn't even know he's there. I much prefer Jango Fett, simply because we actually see him do awesome stuff and hold his own against various Jedi. In my opinion, he was about the only redeeming aspect of Episode II.

Yeah I know Boba supposedly survives in the books, but I stopped paying attention to the Expanded Universe long ago due to how utterly absurd it's become:
In my mind, he's Sarlaac chow.

As a Star Wars kid I watched the movies and read the comics. The Phantom Menace and A New Hope were the only movies I saw at the time, then while buying comics, I was reading Enemy of the Empire and just fell in love with Boba Fett for no reason other than he looked cool. Oh and he fought against Darth Vader in that comic.

So I saw The Empire Strikes Back and Return of the Jedi after that, and I was really disappointed at how he died. Properly the only thing I find wrong with him is he fell into the Sarlacc, three times! Once is enough. Still I was glad to hear he lived.

Boba was a Star Wars character I prefered seeing in the comics rather than movies. He just had this massive influence on me. When I saw Attack of the Clones as a kid, I thought the film wasn't that exciting, until we got to Jango Fett! :D But he died too quickly. :(

I recently saw a preview of The Force Unleashed II comic on Dark Horse. It begins with Boba in an apartment with his current girlfriend. WIN. I might read the comic, only because Boba was in the game for less than, 30 seconds, and the comic has more of him.

But I'm babbling on here. Wrap up. We never first see the potential popularity of minor Star Wars characters. Boba Fett did nothing other than look cool, now he is popular, Aurra Sing only had 3 seconds in episode 1 and now she is really popular, and A'Sharad Hett was only of the coolest jedi that started as a minor character, but eventually became popular enough to be, Nah I won't spoil that if you haven't read Legacy.

When it comes to Star Wars characters, people care more about the characters who arn't Jedi or Sith. But we need more Han Solo type characters, SOMETHING THE PREQUELS NEEDED!

Short Version: Boba Fett is like Soundwave! He's just cool.

I'm pretty sure they made a mini documentary on why people like him in one of the film extras (I think it was in episode 2).
I can't remember the reason but I think it has to due with his apperance mainly the helmet (which I think during the filming they called it buckethead).

Whats not to love?
The fact that he uses exactly none of these cool weapons in the movies?

If you think that's odd you should know that IG-88 and Bossk are also VERY popular even though in the movies they are only there for 3 or 4 seconds!
But I like them IG-88 is awesome just because he is a killer robot, Bossk I don't really care about him and as for Boba Fett well he has a Jetpack and a flamethrower, and that automatically makes him awesome, even if he "died" in such a lame way.

I have no idea.

He never does anything cool. He follows The Millennium Falcon to the Cloud City and rather than apprehend Solo himself, he calls Darth Vader to come do it for him. Then when they're going to freeze Han in carbonite, he's all "heeeey, what if it kills him? Jaba will pay more if he's aliiiiive."

Then he just flies off, and dies in the first 30 minutes of Return of the Jedi, after killing exactly zero people.

I don't understand the appeal.

Cool armour. Jetpack. He's an assassin.

I don't think anyone ticking those three boxes can be anything other than cool.

Because he is Boba Fett? He's just awesome. The armour, I think, is what done it for most people. It just looked cool. I'm sure many people would kill to have a set.

EDIT: Also, he doesn't die. He gets help from someone already being devoured within the Sarlacc. He only just survives because his armour was fucking awesome and protected him the acidic stuffsh.

It's like The Colonial Marines, from Aliens. There fucking useless, yet they look badass.

Cool armour instantly makes you 120% Badasser.

Hey, i keep asking the same question about why people think Master Chief is cool when he takes his ques from what looks to be a holographic stripper that he stupidly goes after despite the fact that he can't get any, unless there's a masturbation function in the MJOLNIR Armor that only Cortana can activate for him. Maybe it's because Fett still counts as a bounty hunter and for some remarkably retarded reason Lucas at random decided he was aiming for a kid demographic and randomly edited things and added remarkably retarded items to the franchise to try and make it more kid friendly while Fett was the only thing unchanged.
...well okay he kept the allusions that Luke and Leia probably would've committed incest if Han Solo didn't have a thing for women who glue cinnamon buns to their head, but you get the idea. Fett is only special when held against the other characters, but when held against other badasses he falls apart. Especially with today's action standards. The Fett's have jet packs and fly about leaving them very vulnerable to automatic weapons fire. Hell, the roid junkies from Gears of War could take down Fett, and for the most part their only special gimmick is chainsaw bayonets simply because they know to take cover.

I think it's 2 things, he has an arsenal, including a jetpack. and jetpacks are universally awesome as others have said

two, I think him standing his ground in a field where everyone else that mattered could kill people with their mind. He's the only non force guy people could think about possibly taking on a jedi/sith one on one and living because thats the air of style he kind of radiated. He got the closest anyone ever got to respect from vader when he was told he could take han, he just seemed important

And no I don't think han and leia where similar in butt kicking. their but kicking mostly involved stormtroopers and other "normal" people. they where cool but they didn't feel like they where this force to be reckoned with, although some of that might come from the fact they had actual developed characters and fett was pretty much an android :p
