He has a unique set of armor, with a distinct 'badass' appearance. And a bunch of gadgets on the armor. I'd argue he's both a bounty hunter and an assassin. What's interesting is that not every assassin has bounty hunting skills, but almost every bounty hunter has the training to take someone out.
After hearing about these Star Wars comics, I think I might actually check one or two out. They've never really appealed to me until now.

Because he has a cool helmet. Having a cool helmet automatically makes you awesome, regardless of all other factors.

If you disagree, your helmet is obviously insufficient.
Never a truer word spoken.....

Just the Mandalorian armor, I guess.
That, and the badass factor that comes with being a bounty hunter?

It works for Samus Aran I guess, but even she has more of a personality than Boba Fett does (well, until you get into the clusterfuck that is the "Expanded Universe")

He's just Boba Fett. You measure how cool other things are by counting how many things they have in common with him.

Plus, he's an Assassin/Bounty Hunter/Mercenary with a wrist-mounted rocket launcher, a flamethrower and a jetpack, all installed onto his badass-looking armour. There's really no way to top that.

The part where he survived getting eaten alive by Sarlacc was pretty sweet. All the associated lore was also pretty sweet. I enjoy anything associated with the Mandalorians.

This is something that has always confused me about Star Wars fans. Why do they consider Boba Fett to be such a cool character? (I actually consider myself a Star Wars fan as well, but it's something I've never shared with the rest.)

Boba Fett never really does anything in the movies except stand around looking cool, and he dies in a really stupid and embarrassing way. So I don't really understand why there's so many comics and books and stuff about him. (Apparently he's still alive.)

Anyone care to explain?
Bobba Fett MAKES IT OUT of the sarlac pit in the expanded Universe. His daughter becomes infringed upon the greater galactic wars (because the galaxy revolves around 30 people) and he at one point fights the Empire in revenge

In the Expanded Universe, he's been raised up to memetic badassery. Much like Chuck Norris, if you take something extremely lame and hype it up enough, it becomes awesome.

PLUS Vader and The Hutts all give him respect. THAT MEANS ALOT. The actor just with body movement said alot about him. The expanded Books and comics with his events after the srlac pit are ok but of course Star Wars fans beat their own beloved characters to death instead of letting them go and becoming legends, which is what TRUE heroic stories are about.

It's not so much him as Mandalorians that I find to be awesome. Read the RepCom books if you want to truly understand.
mandalorians are fucking bosses. every.single.one.

but yeah, his suit and standing around like a boss is basically what he's good for in the movies.

a slight bit off topic:

anytime in a rpg, i always go for the badass looking armor.

that armor that gives you +85 in defense? psh yeah right, i'll take that badass armor that has defense of +46 instead.

That's something I've been asking myself for the past 15 years, from what I can tell he seems to have the same strange disorder that inflicts almost every single person who's ever associated with the Empire. Like most Imperial henchmen, in the movies he stands there looking awesome while we're TOLD that he's a total badass, but we're never actually SHOWN that he's a badass. But with Boba it's worse because he doesn't even get killed on purpose, he dies because Han blindly slammed into him and sent him flying straight into the man-eating vagina metaphor I mean, Sarlacc.

Everywhere else however he's a fucking monster, ever play Shadow of the Empire on the N64? He is the hardest boss in the game and he's at the end of one of the hardest levels I have ever played. Boba Fett in Shadow of the Empire is literally the only game boss I have never beaten without help.
yes we are there's a damn game about him on the gamecube, it shows the ways of our merciless bountyhunter, it actually was one of the best games the gamecube had to offer

Let's see... Space Bounty Hunter with a jetpack and enough guns to level a small city... how can anyone not think that's cool?

I have this theory, though, and I don't think you're going to like it... you see... Fett first showed up in the Star Wars "holiday special" (if you haven't heard about it... don't look it up. You can still be saved! FOR THE LOVE OF GOD DO NOT DO IT!), so, when you're saying you love Boba Fett, you're saying, by extension, you like the holiday special, which was basically everything everyone ever hated about the prequels before the prequels were even a thing... long story short, someone like Lucas sees the love for Fett, and equates this to liking the holiday special... weeeeell... it would explain a lot, wouldn't it?

I bet I have a different(retarded) answer:

Because he wears Visvim!

Also, I have yet to watch Star Wars, I know the story and all based on Family Guy, but yeah, the chicken is pretty cool.

That's actually a great question. As conformist as it sounds I've always been like "Hey there's Boba Fett! Everyone knows he's awesome!" I've never actually stopped to consider why until now, I mean he doesn't really do much like you said. I guess it's something to do with him being a bounty hunter.
