What's so wrong with Michael Bay?

I quite liked Transformers 2, apart from Megan Fox, the 'black' robots, and the wrecking ball joke.
I'm sorry if this sounds ignorant or offensive in any way, but weren't these things supposed to be the selling point of the transformers 2 movie?

...I didn't actually see this movie but one of my brothers did.

How about that asshole makes a Transformers movie focused on the FUCKING TRANSFORMERS FOR ONCE?!

Also, his movies are shit. Shaky cameras during action scenes, lots of closeups and a lot of random 'splosions scenes make them unwatchable. Take the action scenes away from action movies and you're left with a moronic plot and terrible to bad dialogue.

Shia Leboof in Transformers... Guest STARING THE TRANSFORMERS!
These. I wanted to see a Transformers movie about Optimus Prime and the autobots not Shia Laboeuf. I never saw the second one because I didn't want to watch a movie about Shia Laboeuf.

the Transformers movies, but personally I like them alright.
Well, there's your problem.

The man's a hack. A blind child with down's syndrome could direct better movies... Especially if it didn't do anything at all. He did some interesting movies at some point (Armageddon and The Rock), but then decided he could direct and blew it all.

I have no idea why anyone can like that cinematographic abortion that was the Transformers movie (or, hey, while we're at it, the sequel). Admittedly the source material wasn't going to win any best writing Oscar, but there was still plenty of material to do a half-decent action summer blockbuster... What he did sooner classifies as sexual molestation of an entire generation's childhood. In case you're wondering why:

- The source material IS ABOUT THE FUCKING ROBOTS. They're the main characters. In Michael Bay's Transformers it's about teen drama lead by the most dim witted, shallow and unlikeable fucks I've seen, tied only with Twilight's characters. In Bay's movies the robots are little more than extras, tossed around because he needed something to create explosions. And the persons supposed to be the new protagonists are impossible to empathize with. They're annoying, and extremely stupid. I was watching the movie and I couldn't manage to root for them... More like rooting for a building to fall on them to end the movie already.

- The story doesn't make a lick of sense... It's not bad enough that it's completely detached from the original product, the story is just... bad. Nothing makes a lick of sense unless you accept the unwritten premise that everyone in that universe is actually mentally retarded.

- The man changes view. Every.Fucking.Second. I actually counted with my cousins when it was on TV. At several points he changes camera more than once a second. What's the point? You can't follow anything when it changes camera twice in the time it takes you to blink...

- ZOOOOOOOOOOOM IIIIIIIN! Bay must have some creepy dermatological fetish because whenever he does a close up he means business... You could probably count the follicles on Megan Fox's face several times through the movies. It's also extremely relevant to zoom on a robot's metal piece when it's moving very fast and there's all this junk going around that you can't see shit...

- Speaking of not seeing shit, what the fuck is wrong with the camera? You don't see cameras that shaky in live war coverages... When under fire... Whenever there's any little bit of action the camera switches from it's standard "ultra zoom in" mode to "Michael J. Fox, during a particularly bad Parkinson's episode, with a rusty old camera, on top of a pogo stick, during an earth quake" mode.

- What little of that garbled mess you can make out, is always soo depressingly cheesy you'll wish you hadn't...

In short, the story is non-existent, the acting is lousy, the characters are impossible to like, the action is horribly choreographed and you can't see shit of the actual action scenes because the camera work is so horrible it makes amateur porn look like a Steven Spielberg... What else is there to a movie?

Transformers movies did suck, but Michael Bay made The Island, and I thought that was really good.
Huh. I didn't know that. I had to do an essay on it in english and I also liked that movie even though it had it's flaws. Even though I liked this movie I can't bring myself to like Michael Bay. It's just something about all his other movies that just seem to piss me off.
