What's the best/most worthwhile purchase you've made in the past couple months?

So we all buy a lot of shit during our day-to-day lives in this neoliberal capitalist society of ours. But what really stands out for you? What did you buy lately that really give you something that lasts? Something that earned its money back a thousandfold for instance, something that gave and keeps giving you incredible, lasting amounts of fun or simply something that's so damn useful you can't imagine life without it.

For me, that'd me my ereader, which made me think of this question as I was just putting some books on it. Not only did it save me a ton of money in books and printing for school, as there's a lot of philosophy ebooks on gutenberg.org, it also made traveling to and fro my parents a lot easier in terms of bringing books. As I usually read pretty heft volumes I don't always have the room in my bag, especially if I have to bring another if I nearly finished my last book. But with my ereader I can just load up on tons of books and put it in a coat or trouser pocket. It's pretty ace.

So what's your favourite purchase of the last couple months? Is there something you can recommend us?

A pair of very good shoes.

You see, I walk around all day from work to work, client to client, class to class. I walk for hours per day. Getting a decent pair of shoes has meant I don't get blisters, my feet and ankles don't hurt, and when it was icey, I didn't slip over at all.

Shoes are very underrated. Don't get cheap shit, getting one good pair is worth it.

I haven't made any real big purchases or real important purchases in quite a while. I should go buy something stupid to make myself feel better.

I am going to Vegas in three days so I've basically been saving my money for drugs/hookers/gambling (alright....probably only one of those things in real life but I'll let you decide in your own mind what tippy2k2s sin is).

Jokingly: A hotel reservation at the Hilton Hotel in Anaheim, California... which is funny considering I live in San Diego, California...

Seriousness: Outside of some items I won't mention by name at this time, I bought myself a digital weight scale... It may not seem like much on the common scale, but considering this is the first scale I ever own/bought with my own damn money, it's kinda a big deal for me even if it keeps telling me that I am in "decent shape" after number translations...

Impractical: Black Flag. I'm one of those idiots who has to gather every collectible. That makes for many hours of activity on top of the main story, which is enjoyable in itself. Expressed in terms of hours of use per dollar spent, it's excellent.

Black Flag's awesome. Played all of it for free up to 100%, would still buy just the same.

Hm, bought an Bokken (Wooden training sword - katana style) on a flea market for 2 Euroes. Good deal (New they cost about 15+). Although i went there to see if i can get a tea kettle - just ugly rubbish there.

Overall: I am pretty poor, only bought food and gas the last few months.

Bought a new (to me) car. Only 20K on the clock and for about 2/3 of the market value. Should last well and be cheap tax and insurance wise.

-2 houses which are now sold. Only owned for a couple months but made a good buck out of them once fixed up.

-My G27 Logitech steering wheel. Purchased second hand, but like-new, and gotten extremely good mileage out of it not to mention that it's a freaking fantastic piece of hardware, leaps and bounds above anything I've ever used in the past.

- Shadows of Mordor and all it's DLC, for a bloody good bargain on Steam not that long ago. Finished all the DLC, found every collectible, and it's a ball-tearer of a game to boot. Loved it, even more than the Batman games I have to admit, and very chuffed that the whole thing cost me about $12. Waiting to see what kind of similar bargains I can grab at the big Steam summer sale.

Fucking loads of bricks. They should last about fifty years. I'll be dead or moved before it falls down anyway.

Reclaimed or new? I need to buy enough bricks to rebuild 200 feet of 6 foot high wall, I was just wondering if the reclaimed ones are worth the hassle.

Well, I tried Pocky for the first time...and now I'm addicted. Seriously now, those things are straight up delicious.

Maybe the refurb monitor arm I snagged for my Yiynova tablet? If I'd made any sort of effort to actually install the thing, given my less than stellar desk situation anyway- so probably not...this has reminded me that I need to do that and also that I'm currently using the box as a foot rest.

I suppose a few games then. Steam getting visual novels on the regular has been soaking up my time to a pretty good extent recently. Those Sakura novels are a guilty pleasure, I'll admit. Akiba's Trip is good fun too.

Best in the time period has probably got to be my headphones. Sentey Arches. Nice, cheap (40 bucks on Amazon) 7.1. They're really nice! Look 'em up if you're in the market for a relatively inexpensive gaming set.

OP: My PS4 because of Bloodborne and several fighting games. I would be a sad sack if I still hadn't played Bloodborne by now. Then again, I'm a sad sack most of the time anyways. :c

Monster Hunter 4 + 3DS when it came out. Just that game alone made buying the 3ds worthwhile any additional games I can/will get are like icing to the cake.
