Mount and Blade Warband- I was already hooked on the demo and just had to decide whether to buy on steam (which allows for achievements but would give Valve a cut of Taleworld's profits) or direct from Taleworlds and not get the achievements. In the end I bought it direct from the developer, and the game has been 100% worth it.

Got two at roughly the same time, actually..

Aliens Vs Predator for $5 off steam...and I would, but not for more than $10. The SP is decent, and one hell of a challenge, but the multiplayer is practically dead...and for good reason. Not very good, unless playing with a group of friends. Looks kinda nice, though.

Other was Crysis 2, and hell yes I would recommend it, even at full price. It's a modern FPS with a decent length campaign (I think I've already hit the 8 hour point, not sure if I'm near the end) and it has been a freaking blast. The suit's powers, and the ability to mod guns and powers on the fly is just a great touch. Haven't played too much multiplayer, but from what I played, it plays kinda like a good CoD clone, with super powers. Also, one sexy looking game.

Top Spin 4.. it's extremely good. I don't like "new" sports-games that try to look "realistic". Because the gameplay just never will match up. It's the same simplistic mechanics and control, just with better graphics on top. And that's not very fun or interesting, imo. Then I'd rather just play wii sports. But I can appreciate this. Really good game. No idea why it's escaped being held up as what all console-games should be (i.e., easy to pick up, but also with depth).

And then it gets even a little bit better if you play with the move-controller. ..only game I've bought lately that I thought was worth full price.. Hopefully people will buy this game, and hopefully 2k Czech will make more games like it..

Sims Medieval.

You have to really like the Sims series from the start to consider buying this game. There are a few RPG elements and challenges, the usual Sims humor, and I can't deny that it's cute - but it gets pretty repetitive. I was also bummed by the fact that I couldn't really build anything. I love to build houses, yards, basements (etc) and decorate them in the Sims games; rather then actually play the created character for generations. Which is why I enjoyed Sims 2 a bit more then Sims 3. I used to choose an empty map, and just fill it in. Just creating everything .

In Sims 2 and Sims 3, you can have a different job and a few hobbies that go along with each other or are completely seperate. In Sims Medieval, however, your character can only really do what it's job entails. And really, there are only a couple things on that list. The Monarch hears petitions and makes laws, Priest pray and study scriptures, Physicians heal people and make salves, Mages make potions and look into their crystal balls. You have quests that you eventually must complete. You actually 'have' to do these things, which makes them a bit of a chore. You may not see it in the beginning, but it does follow a set path.

I tend to play the Sims games a lot for a few days, get tired of it, play something else and forget about it for a few weeks. Then I'll get a strong urge to play it again, and it will hold my attention for a few days. It's a weird Sims cycle. lol

TL;DR - Meh,....if you really, really, really like the Sims- then sure, why not.

The last digital game I bought was the start of the Back to the Future : The Game on PSN. Just finished episode 2 last night and (I never thought I'd say this about a point and click game but) I love it. I'd 100% recommend it to anyone who is a fan of the movies. Even if you've never played a Point and click before (like me n_n)

Last Physical disc game I bought was Alpha Protocol for $10. Was an alright game. A bit like MGS but not as good. But it was well worth it for just $10.

I finally jumped on the Assassin's Creed trolley.. (I know.. about bloody time right?)
I generally don't enjoy this style of game and I was shocked how much fun I found it.
I got the first two and loved every single minute. I'll be getting Brotherhood this week..
They had a few issues that made me want to pull my hair out, but all games do ;)
highly highly recommended.

(*sidenote* if you try the first one and dislike it, I recommend giving the second one a chance.. the controls are so much more accurate and there is so much more to do in the game)

Last full prices game was dragon age 2, which I though wall well worth it, but if were just walking any game then it would be Supermeatboy and well as Bit.Trip.Beat for about $12 total. Worth every penny.

Il-2 Sturmovik: Birds of Prey, a flight game for the Xbox 360 that can be arcade style, realistic with concessions for the limitations of being a console game, and unforgiving simulation that is damn near impossible to do without a joystick.

For a campaign that has no story, it's surprisingly effective. The relative realism of the gameplay, combined with the journal excerpts, provide a nice perspective as to what it meant to be a pilot in those times. However, realistic mode might be a bit hard for people who don't already know how to fly, and the game was definitely designed with realistic mode instead of arcade or simulator in mind. The missions - especially the single missions - are nice and varied; not all are dogfighting and tank plinking.

Every aircraft has its own little quirks that take time to get used to, which is nice, and some have outright flaws, which is sometimes kind of annoying. Something that's not so much annoying and more outright bad design is how the sensitivity is at maximum when you start, making controlling anything a challenge until you turn it down.

The sound design is good, but the music and chatter can get repetitive.

Online dogfights are an interesting challenge. It's not quite a ghost town yet, but it's getting that way, so everyone that's left is going to be good. You sometimes have to wait fifteen minutes for anyone to show up, but it's usually worth it. However, online games suffer from one major issue: credit for kills. I don't know how many times I've sent an opponent hurtling down to the ground in flames, but not get credit for the kill. The inverse is true too, I've gotten credit for kills I wasn't actually responsible for, though this is a lot rarer. This is the direct result of the damage system, which does not work by HP, but by whether you can keep the plane in the air or not. I've kept smoking, perforated, totally wasted planes flying long past the point where in other games, I'd have been a burning wreck on the ground. The upshot of that is the game has difficulty telling when you've just crashed because of pilot error, or when you've just crashed because you have a couple of foot wide holes in your wing.

Anyway, you can pick it up at Gamestop (in the US) for twenty dollars or so. If you're interested in trying something different and challenging, sure, go ahead. Maybe I'll see you in the skies sometime.

Oh yeah, and if you're flying the Bf-109 G6, you have to make a "like a G6" joke at least once per game. It's the rules.

Magicka - Cut out the gearing, leveling, and questing. Jump into pure carnage of blowing up and being blown up by crazy powerful magic.
Play with friends because friendly fire makes the game 10 times more fun.

Dark Messiah: Might and Magic.

Yeah, it's worth the ten bucks, if you're happy decapitating zombies and punting orcs off cliffs for eight hours. The combat is a thing of beauty, even if everything else is derivative and predictable.

Last game I bought was Xenogears for the PS1, and yes I would recommend it. Just let everyone know that you're going to be away for a few months because it's a fucking long game. And if you're like me and actually playing it on a PS2, then be ready for it to crash every now and then.

Chrono Trigger and Fire Emblem: Shadow Dragon, both for Nintendo DS.

I can't recommend them because I haven't played them yet. I'm finishing up Fire Emblem, then moving on to Fire Emblem: Sacred Stones before I touch the others. I love the Fire Emblem series (save the Wii game, Radiant Dawn, one part in that game was just ridiculously stupid, I won't get into it.) I've also heard nothing but awesome things about Chrono Trigger. When I saw it at my local Gamestop the clerk on (awesome guy, Mike) didn't even realize they had it and I mentioned I was thinking about it and he said I shouldn't even hesitate. Mike has never steered me wrong so I trust his judgment.

Enough of my rambling, last game I bought other than those? I'd have to say Marvel Vs Capcom 3. I recommend it. I feel it's a very solid fighting game. I still only really play it with friends though, I don't much care for the online matches. I get my ass handed to me too often.

Last game was Dino D-day, just got it yesterday.

It's pretty fun, and I'd recommend it, though I might suggest waiting a bit, there's still some things that feel a bit funny about it, other wise it's a great game.
