Crysis 2 - God fuckin' no. Avoid it like the plague. I actually managed to get a refund on it thats how bad it was!
Everyone's entitled to their opinion, and mine thus far is that Crysis 2 is great. What, might I ask, is so wrong with it? I've had no problems in any of the modes so far, it's been a hell of a game for me. However, getting the other side of the opinion is always good to know.
Well, I came from the original Crysis and a lot of changes rubbed me the wrong way. Its probably my fault for not researching it properly. I didn't get further than 5 or 6 hours into the singleplayer but I felt it was a big step down from Crysis. I missed the large open areas, destruction in the environments, enemy AI that wasn't constantly wigging out and dancing in place.
I also didn't care much for the fact they ditched a lot of the characters and story from the first game, although I'll admit there really wasn't much of a "story". I also didn't care for the new suit micromanagement(especially in multiplayer).
I was also hugely disappointed to find out that I couldn't create my own games to play with friends(A trend in most newer games that annoys the hell outta me). Instead you have to buy a dedicated server or deal with trying to find one that matches what you want to play. Which also removed the map editor, fanmade maps, and mods. Also, no more vehicles in multiplayer.
I also encountered an immense pile of bugs when I first started playing. Most PC players did. The multiplayer was a train wreck, constantly resetting rank, saying your cd-key was in use, among others.
Surprisingly, I am not one of the people who cared about the lack of DX11 support at release and all the graphics complaints. However I know other PC gamers didn't care for it.
Anyway, that about sums up why I've been advising people to avoid Crysis 2 like the plague. Although I usually add a disclaimer that if they didn't play Crysis, they won't notice any of these things.
