Probably KOTOR, not too keen on it.
Keep playing it. If there is one thing I am adamant about in this world in this world it's persevering in each game. Most of the time, I find it gets a lot better which is added on by the fact that KOTOR has a great story. What part are you up to anyway?
Only played far enough to get past the tutorial which isn't much I know. It's not so much a problem with the game as a problem with the controls. The pointy clicky interface just doesn't do it for me.

*Assuming this means games within franchises as opposed to completely original IP*

Yup, Tales of Vesperia again. I wasn't sure what to expect, but it's fantastic. This will sound heretical, but it's like if Square-Enix had continued to make good Final Fantasy games.

Only.. it's better, to be honest. It takes loads of JRPG tropes and gleefully bends/twists them to serve a completely different purpose. I can't quite explain what I mean without spoilering the fuck out of it, so here I go.

Estelle, being a sweet and innocent princess has her entire character development revolve around her taking control of her own life and not being manipulated by others. Yuri, the hero, actually practices what he preaches, occasionally forcing him to murder people. And that's just two of the characters. I'm never fond of the "oh, and now magic disappears" ending in fantasy stories, but they handled it fairly well since Rita INVENTS SCIENCE.

Game with no series experience... that would be Tales of Vesperia. The "Tales of" games aren't interconnected so that helped.
I bought the game on a bit of a whim. A few days and 30 hours of gameplay later, I finished off what seemed to be the main villain. Then the game throws a twist at you and becomes even more amazing. Another 40 hours later, after actually beating the game, I was more than happy with my purchase.

Though it was an accident I bought Gears of War 2 before Gears of War. The gamestop I was in only had a used steel book. The sticker covered the 2 so I had no idea it was the second game til I got home and opened it up.

My friend asked me if I was going to get Mass Effect (1) when it came out, I said no, what is that? He said that it was a sci-fi RPG, I should get it. I bought it when it came out, with virtually no prior knowledge about the game. I made my character, and was like DAAAAAAAAMN as I watched the opening cutscene. It was a very memorable experience.

Minecraft last week. Before that was Spacechem (which is brilliant by the way.) Actually the only sequel that I bought recently is the pre-order of portal 2.

new vegas
resi 5
and COD6
all were good except for.... actually ill let you guys guess its not that hard.
Let's see... New Vegas is more fun than a barrel full of monkeys rigged with C4; Resident Evil 5 was pretty fun...but 4 was much better, and longer; and MW2 is a blast. Fun single player. If you don't think about the "story" too hard, it makes sense, and if you get past the fact that EVERYONE in multiplayer is a massive cock 'n' balls, you can have a blast there, too, so...I'm going to guess Res5.

OT: Eh...I think it was AC II. Very, very fun. I just wish I could permanently keep that two-hander sword I love so much....but a large mace will suffice!
sorry but thats where your wrong. everyone in multiplayer is a massive cock'n'balls except from in resi 5 (well except from that one guy) but i see your point the story was awesome i agree and the multiplayer was so-so its just the kind of gameplay and limited customization that dragged me away from it and back to halo. i think im going to rephrase my post to "all were epic except for..." and cod6 wasnt bad enough that i sold it like the other ones (sorry GoW)
Gameplay I'll agree with, but limited customization? There's almost as many assault rifles as there are weapons in most Halo games. Just assault rifles and all secondaries combined, you have more weapon options. But there isn't just assault rifles, now is there? No. There's SMGs, sniper rifles, and the riot shield. Given, there aren't very many choices there, but there are still more choices.

The most recent Halo, Reach, also had little perk-like abilities you could pick up, right? Yeah, you get three (Technically six, if you count the Pro effects as being new perks entirely) at any given moment, in MW2. There's more attachments than I can care to remember, too.

You need one of those little suit perks just to be able to even sprint, in Reach, don't you?

Both have the same sorts of stuff (Goodies, baddies, familiar goodie weapons, exotic baddie weapons), it's just that one is set in Russia and Fictionesia, and the other is set in space; one has energy weapons (Which, for the record, I hate.), and they both have one equipment specialty: One lets you have a riot shield, and be a juggernaut, and the other has a jetpack.

'Nuff said there, Reach takes the cake in that section, because of the inclusion of a jetpack. But add to that the choices of primary and secondary throw-ables/deploy-ables, and customizable killstreak selections, and which game has better customization options? Don't get me wrong, they're both fun games, and they're both very different, but to say that any Halo game has more customization options than MW2 seems a tad ignorant. Although, yes, you can customize your armor in Reach. Armor color doesn't count, because of MW2 weapon camouflages, though.

Short version: Combine all choices of primary, secondary, primary equipment, secondary grenade, attachments, perks, pro perk effects, killstreaks, and weapon camouflage, with everything you have a choice about in any Halo game, and say, truly, which game has better customization options.
i was talkin more about the gametype and map customization. you cant change the maps at all in COD. and i think the only thing you can change in the gametypes is.... players? but in reach the options are limitless. you can even make giant sculptors instead of maps. i see what you mean about the weapons customisation but if you think about it the weapons arent much different outside of their classes. the assault rifles are all pretty much the same just with small changes to thier attributes. the shotguns are the same. i think the only difference between weapons in the same class goes to the sniperrifle but they're all still pretty similar. whereas in halo all the weapons are original and not taken directly from real life( they may be INSPIRED by real weapons but not COPYS of them) and most have different roles. but anyway i didnt come here for a COD vs HALO argument im just saying out of the three games i posted COD6 is (in my opinion) MY least favourite.im not bashing the game, i do like it, but as far as im concerened it isnt the best. so lets agree to disagree :) *offers hand*
*shakes hand* Alright, alright. I got a little ahead of myself; no one is bashing the other game, and neither of us are fanboy Templars.

Although I disagree with the comment of the shotguns being the same. SPAS is arguably the most all-around shotgun; M1014 is all-around as well, but traded some power for semi-automatic firing speed. The Ranger is great for quick, decisive strikes, either as a rioteer's sidearm, a CQB specialist's sidearm, or for those proficient at maneuvering, and closing distance, (Pretty much just me. Everyone else is just the kind of cock-jockey that uses akimbo with a runner class as opposed to a pistol with tacknife.) to screw enemies at very close range. If you're using FMJ, that is. Akimbo ruins the weapon's ability to kill, outside of two-three blasts at knife range. FMJ leaves the gun with the ability to kill, even at the limit of it's range, with just one blast. Also, akimbo shortens the range. Moving on, Stryker. It's the longer range cousin of the M1014, if you can get past the average of four shells to kill someone at it's longer ranges, even with Stopping Power. The AA-12. Clip-loaded, highly efficient, high damage, but completely shite range. Best used as an intimate range sidearm for those with longer range primaries, or rioteers, as a more spray-happy alternative to the Ranger. And, finally, the 1887. The shotgun so badass, they had to nerf it. Three times. Once at base level, one for akimbo, and again to fix a bug with the second nerf, pertaining to infinite range when equipped with both akimbo and FMJ; but decided to lower the range when equipped akimbo, as well. When using Stopping Power, NOT akimbo, and FMJ, it can still be effective as a long range weapon, to this day. Long range for shotguns, that is. Quite possibly the only weapon the subverts the short-range shotgun trope in the whole CoD series.

Now that I believe we can be done, let's leave these nice people to talk about the games they bought for so little, the shop-keeps wouldn't have even noticed if they simply stole it, shall we? Especially since the posts are getting really long, since I refuse to snip the conversation.

The Prince of Persia reboot and Fallout 3, both in bargain bins. Granted, I buy most games quite a while after they come out. I don't mind being a little late to the party.

Dang, I remember a playing Kingdom Hearts II few years back with no series experience OR research. Made me realize I need to know what the fuck I'm buying before spending.

Persona 4 and Dragon Quest IX

Had played Persona 1 on an emulator untill the first boss then quit because I hadn't been grinding, I was sent to the start of the level which is quite far away considering all the random battles. Because I didn't save because it was positioned in the exact same way at the start of the level so I thought I went around in a circle. And Dragon Quest I had heard was pretty good.
Haha, me too! I've logged so many hours on my copy of DQ9, it shouldn't even be funny.

I don't think I'll ever play any Final Fantasy game ever again.

I was the same as you actually. Trust me, you get used to it and even if you don't, the game is definitely worth the time you will put into playing it.

Splinter Cell: Conviction, I believe. And I enjoyed it, too. A bit short, though.

The last game I played (not bought) without prior series experience would have been Silent Hill: Shattered Memories. Bloody Brilliant game, and one of my favorties, ever.

Then there was Pop: The forgotten sands. That was good whilst it lasted.

I dived headfirst into Frogware's Sherlock Holmes series at the tail end of it with 'Sherlock Holmes vs. Jack the Ripper'. Not exactly the deep end of the wading pool, I know, but I tend to go out of my way to play a games series start to finish, same way with books and graphic novels.

Let's see now... God of War collection, Mass effect 2, Arkham Asylum, Halo 3, Uncharted. That's all I can think of righ now, at least that I liked.
I never care about sequels. If it's a good game it's a good game. I don't want to play the same CoD every year.
