A terrifying dream I had recently, I won't get into details though I don't remember much and what I do remember is too fucked up to talk about... other than that and other dreams of the same variety.
Teletubbies scare me, not scream and run away scared but more of a glad they aren't real cuzza how demented and frightening those creatures are, scared.

Probably the last time I was disturbed was when I took it upon myself to look into the american lynchings.

The postcard in the link below was the thing that really got me. I think it's the mundane nature of it.

Found some of a mates old Mage: The Ascension books and started reading through them, most of the stories in them were dross but a couple were quite harrowing.

Very little if anything is capable of disturbing me any more.

About the closest thing I can think of is I found the film "May" (2002) rather unsettling.

the movie melancholia. 'nuff said. a planet crashes into the earth and everyone dies,
I really want to see that film. Von Trier walks a fine line between absolute insanity and pure genius. I watched Antichrist yesterday so that has to be the most recent thing I watched that "disturbed" me.

Willem Defoe gets wanked off while unconscious, eventually ejaculating a cringeworthy amount of blood.

Later on in the film, Charlotte Gainsbourg gets her clitoris cut off. No tactful obscuring either, it happens in plain sight.

It's a pretty good film.

Recently watched Kwaidan, a visual masterpiece, also a potent mix of ethereal beauty and alien terror. Perhaps one of my very favourite films now. That movie was certainly disturbing. I recently was reading some Poppy Z. Brite, I may not agree with everything she/he(?) writes, but when he/she(?) gets it right...

I tried piecing together a short story using all the images from the Offended page once... It wasn't a pleasant experience, but hell, I got 40 bucks out of it (a very stupid and very drunken dare, you see) so I don't really mind.

I've just watched Spartacus: Blood and Sand back to back (got the box set at Christmas).

If you've seen it, you'll know that's enough disturbing for anybody.

The last thing to truly disturb me mentally was the recent youtube video of those kids setting the dog of fire. That was just....... unimaginable. You don't think people can be that evil. And you don't realise that you'd have it in yourself to kill a person until you see this kind of stuff happen and think "These people don't deserve to be alive... I would gladly be the man for that job".

The only other time I've ever really be freaked to O_O status was when watching SAW 2. And that was because I went into it having no idea what I was about to watch, and I really. Really. REAALLLLLY. Do not like needles. So that one scene almost had me walking out of the cinema.
Course nowadays I've seen so much of that torture-porn in movies it doesn't affect me. Although... I will admit that I haven't watched the human centipede yet...

Undoubtedly, that. And I still can't quite figure out why it was necessary...
Because, while I did enjoy the original game, it was never able to accomplish more than some cheap attempts at scares and was prone to the sort of cliched horror nonsense that got in the way of the games stellar atmosphere. I've never played the second one but heard it was worse as far as all of the stuff I disliked about the original, and that kind of confirms it. Nothing more than a cheap attempt to make people cringe. Something that's far easier and faster than making a game that's actually scary.

The Wasp Factory by Iain Banks. It has a detailed scene where a live baby, with a problem with its skull has maggots filling an open wound in its head... I nearly threw up reading it! Its horrifying! Still have read the book 3 times though!
