Ive played quite a few difficult games before, but some make me want to mash the controller untill its a powder so thin i could use it as a popcorn topping. Whats the hardest game youve ever played?

My opinion: I Wanna Be The Guy. Everything will kill you, no matter what, and the game will mock you for dying. I have died 223 times on a single screen on the easiest difficulty.

IMO, I Wanna Be The Guy doesn't count, the whole game depends on memorizing where the death traps are, that's trial and error gameplay, not real difficulty.

On-Topic: Probably Ninja Gaiden 2. With enough skill it's possible to never get hit, but it is fucking difficult even on easy.

Max Payne. I thought it would be fun just to jump around like crazy. 5 min. in an enemy came with a shotgun and killed me. That would lead to 12 more hours of pain and fun

Castlevania: Rondo of Blood.

Something about this game is just NUTS! Castlevania is difficult, obviously, but for some reason this one seems especially so.

The final level in Super Castlevania IV is also kind of BS.

Psychonauts.

Damn game! I still haven't finished it.

It's a puzzle/platformer/adventure/action game with some of the best story and gameplay mechanics ever - and it has a difficulty curve so steep, I've made my fiance do half the boss battles because I end up crying in front of the monitor in frustration...

EVE Online. It's not difficult to play in sense of being hard, but more as in difficult to actually make yourself sit down and play it. I'm currently on Day 3 of my free trial and I already can't stand it. They did have the decency to have an in game web browser though, so I can google shit while I wait half an hour for my ship to fucking fly somewhere. Hey I wonder if I can play Minecraft on this...

It's a toss up between Ninja Gaiden 2 and Demon's Souls for me. Although in my opinion Demon's Soul does get slightly easier as you level up, not to mention you can have other players help you out if you want.

Rock Band 3 - Pro Keys. Makes me want to throw the damn thing even on Medium, but I can't because of how expensive it was :p

For some stupid reason I had an unbelievable amount of trouble with Dragon Age. Usually I find rpgs easy on the most difficult rating but Cheezus was this ridiculous! While it isn't difficult on easy mode (if a game is than the programmers need a dictionary), I found myself dying repeatedly on normal mode.

I had many problems with the Mario games back in the day.

Although, not up into two or three years ago was when I started putting actual rational thought into gaming, instead of just relying on pure five year old instincts.

There are a few.....the most current is Ninja Gaiden 2
Back in the day there were 2....MYST was a beast (although I don't think I had the patience back then) And although it was a VERY fun game (and I love it still today) there were parts of Full Throttle that I always had to have my brother in law (the one who really introduced me to gaming) come and solve for me (e.g. minefield bumper cars and hitting goggles off a guy's bike with a plank of wood)

I had the same experience - I loved the game but really struggled with the certain points, even on normal difficulty.
