For some stupid reason I had an unbelievable amount of trouble with Dragon Age. Usually I find rpgs easy on the most difficult rating but Cheezus was this ridiculous! While it isn't difficult on easy mode (if a game is than the programmers need a dictionary), I found myself dying repeatedly on normal mode.
Yeah that happened to me also. I love RPGs. I don't find D&D or any kind of RPG really difficult, but Dragon age kicked my ass so much it still hurts.
So Dragon age and The temple of elemental evil were my most difficult games

Jumper: Redux.
If you disagree... you are wrong.

Stuntman. I know I'm terrible at driving games, but the level of precision required is far beyond any skill I could ever posess. I never got past the second movie... still loved it though.

Evolution: World of Sacred Device

Fighting the final boss when no matter the level you are, he is always a few levels ahead and has this super power that can demolish your entire party in one go. And he can go more than once per turn.

Still can't beat that asshole after about 60 million tries.

If it takes months and leaves me a soulless, crushed husk of a human being, I guess it's still not hard?

Kidding aside, I'll give Jumper Redux a shot soon (currently playing lots of Incursion). Is the game any good, difficulty aside?

Everyone in this thread is wrong. People have survived I Wanna Be The Guy, people have survived Touhou games, but no one has made it through all 255 levels of Crystal Quest. Not even with the hundreds of extra lives it gives away.

It's an unbelievably good game. I think the sequel is slightly better (the inertia brings it down HEAPS, other than that it's much better), but they're both awesome.

Anything free, or am I going to have to buy this?

Excellent. Lots of the stuff there looks great, actually. Thanks a lot!

P.S. I may return to curse you unto the seventh generation at a later date, depending on Jumper's difficulty.

mystery dungeon: shiren the wanderer, about 30 goes I did, and I never got past the second of the three trails in Table mountain (the dragon one)

For all of you who dont know, mystery dungeon games (other than the pokemon ones) are insanely hard, and if you die (and you will die), you start the game again.

To be honest?

The first Harry Potter game. When I was little, I couldn't for the love of all that is holy beat Voldemort.

I could later, but back then, man it was hard.
Pfft, I couldn't even get past destroying the 4 curses on he PS1 version. Despite having the Red Flippendo spell, you still had to charge it up to full to destroy those knights.

I think I still have it but lost my memory cards, I shall try it again one day. Kicked arse flying brooms.

The demo for Metal Fatigue, Rimtech stage 3. The enemy has none of the normal limitations in place on the finished game, and rapidly manufactures combots with parts that shouldn't be available that early in the game. enemy combots rush you as early as 2 minutes into the game, and come in a steady stream for the duration, steadily getting more powerful until they're all armed with electro-blades. This was the single hardest game I've ever played. I did eventually win this battle, but only after a couple hours hiding underground amassing resources and whittling down enemy defenses.

I only name the 3rd stage(the 2nd in the demo) because the first was a tutorial.
