I just saw a commercial for Mike's Hard Lemonade where two guys dressed exactly the same go to reach for the same six-pack...then start finishing each other's sentences. When a nickname for your product is 'queer beer' you might want to put a little more thought into your commercials.

Probably the Star Wars prequels. I expected to go into those movies expecting a fun space adventure that explored slightly darker and more universal themes of life. Instead...I got Jar Jar Binks.

Brink and homefront.

Advertised and publicised as if they had a strong single player. Whilst half true for homefront, people buying these games expecting strong single player experiences were disappointed to say the least. However, those who bought it with multiplayer in mind certainly weren't. Advertised differently, these games could've been far greater hits.

As one of the few people who genuinly thought the Shining was a dissapointment,I would have RATHER it been like this. Jack Nicholson in a heart warming family film? I'm not ashamed to admit I would love that.

Very well made parody, this now goes high on the list.
I also was very disappointed with the Jack Nicholson version.

But then I saw the miniseries version and now, to me, it is the only true film adaptation of The Shining. I don't for the life of me understand why film makers take an excellent source material and then butcher it in the translation :\

Record of Agarest War. They advertised it as a hentai game. In actuality, it is a decent SRPG with dating sim elements.
...You think so? The only reference to it being hentai that I remember was the 'HOT PIX INCLUDED!' on the back of the box. (Yes, it really said that.)
I remember their PR department throwing out terms like "porn RPG". I bought the Limited edition or the "Naughty" edition as they called it. It also came with a "unique" mousepad.
And this:
They kinda did advertise it that way. I loved the game, though. I've already pre-ordered the sequel that is due out in three weeks.

Last airbender, I thought the commercials looked really good. Little do you know that the commercial footage were the only good parts of the movie.

There was an ad here in Australia, don't know if the rest of the world got it. It consisted of two children staring at the camera while their eyebrows spasmed wildly to the beat of some techno music. The ad annoyed the hell out of me and had absolutely no indication of what the product was up until the logo came up at the very end. I could never remember what it was for when I was explainging it to people back then, so it obviously wasn't doing its job well. It was for chocolate I think, Cadbury maybe.

How about when they try to be different by buying the exact same thing? On a local note my corner store sells its next to the "back to school supplies" with a sign that reads "going back to school? You'll need these." Mind you I have seen people buying beer and cigarets with their child's medicine an afterthought at this place. Maybe they are luring people in with the booze to get them to buy pens?

I stand corrected.

But, a sequel...? I wanted to get Record of the Agarest War, but it's still like $30. However, I might pick up the sequel instead. What's the name of it? It totally went under my radar.

The two that right on the top of my head are:

Dead Space 2- I don't imagine I have to say anything past "Your mom's going to hate it." That was a total disaster as far as I'm concerned.

Slumdog Millionaire- I found out this fact way after watching the movie, but a poster tag line had been along the lines of "Two hours of unbelievable happiness!". For anyone who hasn't seen the movie, a majority of it is cripplingly depressing/unpleasant (it does have a mostly happy ending and a Bollywood dance sequence for the credit roll, though).

Scott Pilgrim vs. The World, in the sense that it WASN'T advertised.

That is the EXACT reason The Expendables out-sold Scott Pilgrim on their opening weekends.
It was advertized. They had a couple trailers with good songs. Made me want the soundtrack not the movie though. She wasn't that pretty that someone should murder 7 people to date her.
I imagine she was a good lay though. I'm mean... 7 exes? Plenty of experience.

Though your right, the movie is awesome but the premise is a little weak. The only reason I wanted to go see it was because it reminded me of No More Heroes.

Fixed. I used the full word "image" instead of just IMG

EDIT: Ok, maybe not.

EDIT 2: Ok, removed HTTP from the links.

EDIT 3: WTF? The "giant Thirst" one is showing, but only because I loaded the link into another tab.

EDIT 4: NOW I got it figured out. Your source is broken when you try to hotlink. The pictures work only when you put the address into your browser.

Don't worry, it went under everyone's radar. All I knew was that it had been confirmed for the West until two months ago when I was cruising Amazon when BAM! [http://www.amazon.com/s/ref=nb_sb_ss_i_2_26?url=search-alias%3Daps&field-keywords=record+of+agarest+war+zero&sprefix=record+of+agarest+war+zero] I stumbled upon it. Regular edition is only 50$. Limited is retail.
EDIT: It is also a prequel. So don't worry about missing out on the lot.

The trailer for X-men 3 gave me the impression that they'd be fighting Sentinels. I was...pretty disappointed with that movie.

Off the top of my head, Bridge to Terabithia(lol spelling). Promised to be some fantasy otherworld fun time thing and it turned into an escapism fantasy drama thingy about kids.

I'll just leave this little example of how to not advertise your painkiller here...
Is that what head on is for? I could never figure it out
Its a "Homeopathic Remedy" (Read: Utter Rubbish) and because it has absolutely no clinical evidence of doing anything they can't actually legally advertise it as a painkiller.....so thats the best they could come up with, just offer instructions for...something...
