Most recent would be The Talos Principle. Got that from a friend for the holiday sale, just beat it a few days ago. Loved it. It was a great game given my personal philosophy, but I found the fact that it's a game that actually makes you question humanity, and justify/define it in the game to be a very interesting premise. Plus all the other stuff about the game premise that I won't spoil, but that was pretty damn awesome. But them, I'm a sucker for :

Legacy stories about passing on of things. Be it a mantle of power, knowledge, the fate of humanity, and overcoming some challenge to try and make a better tomorrow.

Love Undertale. Haven't seen that kind of execution in a game since 2005, and the soundtrack is amazing, also reminding me of the classics. I end up humming the whole way through.

Was recently given Brave New World from Iron Maiden for my birthday and I was very surprised when I enjoyed every track. The title song itself is pretty dramatic too.

I saw the film Spotlight recently.

Not half bad.

Although, not knowing much about the analysis of movies, I would struggle to say why. It seems like it should be really boring. It's like 80% people sitting in offices talking. The performances are all really understated. There's only little in the way of drama or conflict. The closest it gets to action is Mark Ruffalo talking excitedly. It even avoids getting lurid with all the nasty stuff being presented purely in victim's descriptions.

And yet, I found it really interesting and engaging. About the only bad thing I can say about it is that there's a bit that is supposed to be a big moment of revealing self reflection or whatnot that falls rather flat.
I wrote about this in another thread, but I think the reason Spotlight is so good is because it's less about the characters and what they're reporting on, and more about the ethics of journalism itself. At the same time, it doesn't hammer you over the head with this and instead lets the characters deal with it organically. The only time it missteps with this is in that scene of self reflection that you mentioned. The movie feels very real so it's easy to be invested in what's going on despite there being nothing particularly showy in it.

OT: Fallout 4. Maybe it's because I lowered my expectations a lot after seeing a good deal of backlash, but I'm personally loving the game. I like the perks/special only leveling system. Putting points into skills seems really redundant to me when you have a perk system that's essentially covering the same things, so I don't mind that they simplified the game in that way. I've spent a huge amount of time just designing the perfect settlements and simply exploring the land. I like how many locations aren't actually tied to quests because it encourages you to tackle each new area in your own way.

Not to say there aren't flaws. I've had to use the console several times to fix broken quests and characters. Also, I've downloaded some mods to balance the game a bit better while also decreasing pointless lategame barriers. Jet packing from roof top to roof top while sniping the helpless raiders shouldn't be hampered by the huge energy drain on the fusion cores, so I've decreased the drain by 90%. I don't use power armor because I need to (I'm playing on survival and can one-shot every enemy in the game with the broken sneak attacks), I use it because it's a blast.

Also, I actually enjoyed the story. It's not particularly amazing, but I liked how there wasn't any clear answer to which of the 3 (I don't really count the Minutemen) you should back. The game does kind of hammer you with the Railroad probably being the most morally sound option, but from a pragmatic standpoint, it's more open to interpretation.

The anime Ushio to Tora. I forget why I I started watching it, but I am really enjoying it. It is about a boy and a demon who have to fight off other demons, but there is this super powerful demon (for all intents and purposes is Satan) that will soon awaken and they must defeat him. Its strength comes from its cast, both the main duo and the secondary.

"Really liked", eh?Movie-wise: Last VegasThat shit was great! Watching an old group of friends get together in Vegas in order to both live it up alongside throwing a kickass bachelor party for one of them actually had some moments that hit me right in the "this could be my future" kind of way... Plus, it had this song in its overall soundtrack:
If I were a DJ, I would totally use this song in one of my sets hands down!
Show-wise: Mike Tyson Mysteries (Season 2)The last new episode ended the same way the other new episodes usually end from my perspective: I'm on the floor laughing my ass off while the credits are rolling... and I'm trying to hum along to the ending theme...
Music-wise: Thundercat's Tron Song
Damn, this song is fucking catchy in a "ode to someone" kind of way... Then again, it's a song dedicated to the artist's cat and, from my perspective, could still double as a song dedicated to Tron himself... if you love him the same way you love a cat, I guess...

Other than that, I have become a bit obsessed with getting BLTs at Subway... but, I wouldn't call it a "recent" thing, per se... :p

Fargo - Season 2 - I really enjoyed the first season. Unfortunately, the second season of an acclaimed show usually tends to fall flat (looking at you, True Detective). But I'd say this season was just as good as the last one. And as usual, the against-type performances were fantastic!
Agreed.
I actually rate Season 2 sligthly higher, something I did not expect at all.

OT:
I just finished Jessica Jones, and I loved it to bits.
David Tennant, just David Tennant..

Life is Strange. I bought the first episode at launch, but never got around to playing it and it fell into the Steam backlog. So after I ground through Bloodborne over Christmas/New Year, I felt like I needed a bit of a palate cleanser, and a whimsical tale of highschool drama and teenage angst seemed like a good idea after battling eldrich horrors. Needless to say, I had no clue of the emotional roller-coaster I was about to board. Many, many feels were had.

5 people, including me, decided to have a multiplayer session of Age of Empires 2 last weekend. And I have to say I was really impressed by the scope of the game. Not only were there many MANY clans to choose from, there were unique units, campaigns, and even history lessons! I had never played this game before because I didn't have a Windows machine growing up. But I could see why people loved this game so much and still do.

Plus the game looks and sounds great. This is my favorite track.

Fallout New Vegas.

Bought it a few months ago, didn't gett around playing untill 2 weeks ago. Finally installed the YUP mod (massive fan made patch to iron out most left over bugs) and it is pretty much the only game I play at the moment. Sucked me in right from the start and it is save to say it is ending up being one of my favorite games.

Mr. Robot- Didn't really expect such an interesting, complex and cynical show on the USA Network. But I was hooked from episode one. Sure it's Fight Club meets Dexter meets The Matrix with a little internet paranoia thrown in. But so what?
Came here to post Mr. Robot. Had high expectations, expectations were exceeded. First couple of episodes were "okay", but oh my did it ever get really good really fast. Rami Malek is a fucking revelation, and his portrayal of autism/mental illness is as good as I've ever seen. And the 70's style Kubrickian call backs in almost every episode are both brilliant and gorgeous. The directors know their stuff.

As for Fight Club...I spent a good portion of the first eight episodes saying "This is great, but it's got so much Fight Club in its DNA". Then this happened:

Along with "You knew all along, didn't you?", and I went from being mildly disappointed at an over-telegraphed "twist" to being super impressed at the show's self-awareness and ambition.

Best new TV show in a long time. Hope the second season can live up to the first.

I felt the same. The movie almost lost me at first, with what basically felt like a typical day at the office. I was ready to call it quits and walk out, when they suddenly jumped into the molestation scandals and I got hooked for the rest of it. I think what hooked me afterwards was simply the enormity of what was being uncovered. So, you could say that history itself made this movie as fascinating as it was. I'm glad I saw it regardless.

A top 10 list of abridged series led me to check out "50% Off" the abridged version of "Free", the eye-candiest of bishonen anime to come out in 2015. I've never seen Free, but I'm pretty certain that 50% Off completely changed the characters because they're far too ridiculous to be in a non-abridged anime. Judging from the comments, everyone's favorite was Haru, the resident space cadet. His inner monologues were hilarious, often because they were completely unrelated to the plot, and involved goofy conversations between a bunch of voices in his head who were all also named "Haru".

I just discovered Rick and Morty, and I must say, it's sad to see what I've been missing. It has a really smart sense of humor, and it's filled the hole futurama left behind. I've been burning through the first season pretty quickly. I lost my shit at the mr. Meeseeks episode. The council of ricks was pretty great as well.
I've been wondering about that show. I've seen some amusing clips of it on youtube. I guess it's time to give a full episode a look.

I'm pretty happy others in this thread listed off Steven Universe and UnderTale for things they liked recently, mostly because I'm a huge fan of both those things myself. Likely regard them as my favorite game and favorite on air TV series respectively. Although I've enjoyed quite a few other things recently.

[li]I'm in the middle of Life Is Strange and I'm just in awe of how it's turning out. Although I weirdly liked episode 1 over the subsequent 2 and 3, I am just so surprised by the end of episode 3 that I was nearly speechless.[/li]

[li]To prepare for Venture Bros. coming back on the 3lst, I'm rewatching all the episodes (and for the first time watching past season 2). Just finished season 4 yesterday, and despite really liking the second half of season 4, I didn't much care for the first half. Season 3 on the otherhand was the highlight of the series for me (at least without seeing season 5 or this season yet). Just really liked the status quo of Dr. Venture attempting anything and everything to get cash after the incident with Killinger, Monarch desperately trying to arch the Ventures again, Hatred being more prominent but not overbearing, and Henchmen 21 & 24 also getting a good amount of screen time too.[/li]

[li]In terms of music, I recently discovered Jesus and his Judgmental Father, a queer punk band from Leeds.[/li]

Pretty obscure with their most popular videos being in the low thousands of views, but came across them when I was looking for more trans artists after listening to Against Me!'s Transgender Dysphoria Blues.

[li]Pokemon Y and my new 3DS XL have also been enjoyable, but I can't help but feel I need people to actually trade with instead of using wonder trade. Not too much of a hassle though considering I've found at least a dozen active trading forums for when I really need something, but I can't help but think having at least one friend with X would be better.[/li]

Speaking of Pokemon...

Okay 2 things.

1. I'm happy you're happy with it.

2. What is up with those series of pictures? It looks like you're peeling back its head to show off its eyes.

I just caught up. It's really, really good. Maybe futurama levels of good. It does a good job of balancing lots of humor with some occasionally thoughtful and emotional moments. I highly recommend it.

I also have a new thing to post, since I finished watching the first season of Bojack Horseman today. I was afraid it'd go too far into the more serious relationship stuff towards the end, but somehow it pulled off a balance of genuinely engaging drama and hilarious, mean-spirited black humor. I don't remember the last time I laughed so much at a tv series. It's just the kind of humor that tickles my funny bone.

Shows: I've recently finished up Season 1 of both Daredevil and Jessica Jones. They were both excellent, but man oh man! Daredevil really nailed those fist fights.

Movies: Last night I was scrolling through Netflix and saw that Training Day was up (FYI Training Day is now on Netflix). I hadn't seen it since release and remembered enjoying it and come to find out, my wife hadn't seen it so we watched that. It was far more enjoyable than I remember. Also, Denzel Washington was phenomenal.

Video games: Same amount of fun as everyone else who mentioned Fallout 4.
