It's weird that several series I'm following ARE going off the air this year.

Eureka & House are both in their final seasons and rumor has it that The Avenger's: Earths Mightiest Heroes is going to be taken off and replaced with a new series placed with in the Ultimate Spider-man universe.

WHAT!!?!? But the Avengers show is SO GOOD right now!!

Fucking broadcaster people ALWAYS do this!

I think we're getting dangerously close to a time where nothing but reality shows are on TV. Considering most new interesting series like Awake, Alcatraz and Terranova were cancelled I don't know what's the point in watching new series if they're not going to make it beyond season 1.

Most series were not totally amazing like The Event and Flash Forward and I would even say that most of them were just a Lost wannabe, but even then, even an average series is much better than those crappy reality shows.

I thought that after Lost we would get even more amazing TV shows that really blew our mind and surpassed movies quality, but it seems that all TV networks are interested is in mediocre stuff.

There are still some good shows like Fringe, but the future seems dark.

What do you think about TV nowadays and its future?

The wife and I are basically resigning ourselves to not bother watching any new series until after the first season and just finding them online later on. It's begining to be a pain in the ass to watch a series, get invested in it and then have it cancelled 1/2 way through or chase it across the time schedules or other mid season hiatuses only to forget half the plot lines or watch them jump shark tanks to make up for it.

BTW if anyone is interested, here's a link to all the proposed TV pilots submitted for the 2012 and which ones were picked up [http://ca.movies.yahoo.com/news/tv-pilots-2012-complete-guide-174003558.html]. Of them all I only found maybe 3 or 4 that sounded interesting and of them, probably only 1 or 2 that may even make it past the first 1/2 season.

I Still watch some TV Series... its frustrating having to wait another week for the next episode but i guess it builds some suspense at times and intrigue so youre not getting bored of having to watch continuous episodes :D

Terra nova got cancelled? Crap... Oh well, it was cool but the overall story was moving soooo slow. Actually, now that I think about it, that's the problem with many series. They set up this interesting premise but than they milk it for soooooo long. Focusing on some trivial occurence every episode while only teasing the actually interesting storyline.
This is one of the many reasons I love doctor who so much: what dollhouse dragged out over a whole season, doctor who would lay out in 1 episode.

As for tv as a whole, I can say I've barely watched any for years now. Internet has pretty much completely taken over it's role. Why?
A) I can watch whenever I want. I don't have to match my working schedule to the tv programmation or have my family back home record everything (I live in a dorm monday to friday).
B) I can start at the first episode and catch up from there, even if the series is already running several seasons. In fact, that's even better because it means I'll have a decent supply to chew through before I get to the point where I'll only "get" one episode a week.
C) Living in Europe, many great series are not broadcasted here AT ALL. Game of thrones, just to name one. And the ones that are, are usually one season behind compared to the states.

So what about disadvantages than? well tv has better image quality and a couch still beats an office chair. That's about it.

And before reality tv it was game shows. Most tv sucks or doesn't cater to your own taste it's always been this way, 90% or so of tv sucks but with a 1000 + shows to choose from your still left with a lot. Now go watch Young Justice, How I Met Your Mother, or Adventure Time.

I seriously hated the season finale of Psych. You can't just do something like that and leave us waiting wanting more. No sensible person does that. It's "Who Shot Mr. Burns" all over again. Well, except that I saw it when the episodes were years old so it was on the next day... Still, I hate when they do those kind of things.

I wont start listing series I watch, since it's a matter of opinions, but there should be more shows to get into out there. You just need to give them a chance.

The TV shows I'm watching at the moment:

Mad Men
The Walking Dead
Boardwalk Empire
Curb Your Enthusiasm
It's Always Sunny In Philadelphia
Adventure Time

All of them are top notch.

Also, The Big Bang Theory is one of the worst shows I have ever seen. It's about as funny as watching a child have an aneurism. After seeing various snooze-worthy clips I was finally made to watch an entire episode. As far as I could tell, the only joke they had was "nerds are a thing that exist". EDIT: And I really like The I.T. Crowd. Nerd humour done correctly.
Me and you have very similar tv tastes my friend I was extremely close to ranting that no-one had mentioned Mad Men.

I watch all those shows except IASIP, gave it a try not really my kind of comedy (much more into curb!)
any other recommendations?
If you like IT Crowd you have to check out Garth Marenghi's Darkplace!
Niice. The stuff I listed is just what I watch that's still being made. I also watched Deadwood and Bored to Death before they were cancelled, as well as the obligatory mention of Firefly. I'm almost finished my Seinfeld box set, and am about 2/3 of the way through my Cheers box set. Also got Invader Zim. I've got The Wire, Sons of Anarchy and 6 Feet Under box sets, as well as season 1 of Treme, but I haven't started any of those yet. My brother likes to collect box sets, in case you couldn't tell haha. He also tells me to get into Breaking Bad and Justified. Don't know how I'm ever going to get through it all.

One thing would fix this quite easily, that group of fucktards called MGM bringing Stargate back. That said I don't entirely agree with you there are still some worthwhile programs out there.

Can anyone tell me if Farscape is any good?
It kinda depends how much Sci-fi you've watched. I liked it at first but then after a few episodes, having seen the entire stargate franchise, all of BSG and quite a lot of star trek, the plots started to feel a bit too familiar and I got bored of it. Apparently the 'Peacekeaper wars' miniseries is awesome regardless of whether or not you like the main show though.
I have to disagree.

The general consensus is that the first season is fairly standard sci-fi, but after that, the writing greatly improves.

For my money, it's one of the best, most entertaining science fiction series ever on television.

I didn't think Alcatraz or Terranova were particularly good. (Or Lost)

I'm still pissed about Heroes and Stargate: Universe though, both ended or big cliffhangers and that really bugs me, particularly when both would have done plenty better if they didn't delay showing it to the rest of the world until a week after America, many people just went ahead and watched them online instead so they could keep up with the story.

It's not all bad though, we do have a few decent series' left like Grimm, Dexter, Game of Thrones, Supernatural, House, and The Walking Dead.

I'll admit some of those series have been slipping a bit lately but they all seem to be doing a good enough job so far.

Fingers crossed The Walking Dead cast don't find another farm.
