FEAR is complete tripe in comparison to Fatal Frame/Project Zero.
FEAR just makes you jump once or twice, but Fatal Frame makes you jittery the whole way through.

It's not a scary game but...Shalebridge Cradle in Thief III

holy. shit.

...

That level single handedly scared me out of a year's growth.

I'm rarely ninja'd on posts, but when I am, I drink Dos Equis

Anyways, besides Shalebridge, I have to say Doom 3

Eternal Darkness: Sanity's Requiem. That freaked me out the first time I played it.

Resident Evil 4 could be scary at times *snip*
That game wasn't scary at all mainly because you knew exactly when you were safe and when you weren't. The music always changed when enemies were near.
Great game, very eerie to play, but not really scary to play.
Now Silent Hill, or Eternal Darkness...those will mess with your mind.
Yeah I guess. I've only played Silent Hill: Homecoming. I liked it but it wasn't scary lol

And that's why i said parts of RE4 were scary. Such as the parts with those with Regenerators and Iron Maidens. Fuck. I especially was scared of the regenerators in the hospital area. Fucking hospitals . . .

Now the Iron Maidens only startled me but my friend saw me playing when I encountered one and oh boy. It scared the shit out of him, It was hilarious.

Luigi's Mansion (By the way that was sarcasm). But seriously Condemned 2 is easily the scariest game I've played, followed by Dead Space.

Resident Evil 2 because I was very young.
Alone in the Dark 4 has some pretty scary moments.
Doom 3 made me jump out of my seat a few times , but only at the beginning of the game, then it just turned into a slaughterfest.
Oh yeah almost forgot, Project Zero 3, that was the only game I was afraid to play to the end.

Modern warfare 2. When I realised that the entire game took me around 3h and that was ALL I was in such a shock that I pee'd in my pants.

Eternal Darkness was the only game that ever sacred the shit out of me. I got it about a month after it came out. Lost almost all of my sanity because I never did finishers. Wandered through the mansion whacked out of my mind. People knocking on the doors, walls bleeding, menu blue-screening. Make it to the famous bathtub scene. Get past Jacob's chapter, fix the circuit breaker, lights come on, and it's another bathroom. "Yeaaaahhh... I'm not going in there." Didn't play it for like 4 days.

Clock Tower: First Fear. It's that lonely atmosphere that just creeps me out...

Silent Hill 3 really scared the crap out of me - there were times when I'd enter areas and the entire place would be some sort of vibrant red colour and there'd be monsters accompanied by some intense music; oh, and the room with the big mirror in the hospital was one of the coolest (and most horrifying) things I've ever seen in a video game.
