Outlaws by Lucas Arts^^ (yes that old silly game!). I was a young and innocent girl, 2D cowboys in the dark with nasty laughs scared me shirtless!

FEAR games had no impact on me whatsoever, except being annoying to play cause the damn things I was shooting at was invisible in the shadows... Strangely never got spooked once, never even felt uneasy.

I don't find horror games scary.
Horror movies are frightening because they're on a non-interactive medium where you experience what the characters are experiencing.
But with horror games you have control so it just does have the same effect.
On the contrary, I'd say it has more of an effect for me. A horror movie can only be so scary, because of that disconnect between me and the protagonist/s. A horror GAME on the other hand, well I'm pretty much sitting in the drivers seat. The main character is suddenly an avatar for my actions. Someone else isn't being chased down a hallway, I'M being chased down a hallway. I find it MUCH more effective!

Hey. I have a almost phobia-ish fear of hospitals and anything that resembles something creepy. And last time I checked twitchy fuckers with no faces were creepy. They were twitchy right?

And no need to be so smug about it.

The original Alone in the Dark... I was probably about 10 or 12 when I played it...

Who could have thought such basic polygon shapes could be so fucking terrifying... All in all, that game was properly scary to play through... (the library! Holy shitting ball bags!!!)

Please say I wasn't the only one...

Bioshock.

The fact that death is a slap on the wrist compared to other games does not, despite what you'd think, make the experience less scary.

It only means the game isn't finished with you yet.

Both Condemneds, although the end of the 2nd not as much.I think what makes this game so effective (more so the first) is that the level locations are all places we've been or could conceivably go with ease. Honestly, the Department store level and library levels terrified me, because they were so ordinary yet showed how they could be incredibly dangerous (If crazy hobos were after you that is)

Although Things went downhill after the bear in the second.

Doom 3 scared me so much when I was younger, and that shit in surround sound is terrifying. Being my first FPS and that there is a British Office reference makes me fond of it.

And SS2. Nothing like turning around and seeing a monkey in your face. Nothing

I'd have to go with the Half-Life 2 modification Korsakovia. That mod, although not without it's flaws, will fuck you up pretty bad. It's not only very very scary, it also messes with your head on a level rarely seen in games.

I'm going to have to with S.T.A.L.K.E.R: Shadow of Chernobyl, especially with some of the underground laboratories. The bloodsuckers in that game can be an absolute nightmare if you come in unprepared. I remember when I went in once armed only with a fairly weak pistol, a suit without night vision, and only a few healthpacks.

I don't think I've mashed the Esc key faster in my entire life than the moment at which the damn thing snuck up behind me and screamed at my frail, fleshy body.

I found the start of bioshock pretty scary, before you get an arsenal of weapons and a collection of plasmids and upgrades

Resident Evil 4 scared me because

a).I thought I would be completly surrounded and overwhelmed
b).I though I would run out of ammo before I killed all the enimies.

There was a really old game, Trespasser, that scared me really bad. That game is known for its horribleness, but i love that game. It has a great atmosphere, and the enemies are terrifiying. Plus it was really hard to shoot and aim, so the game was pretty hard.

Resident evil 1 remake scared me because

a). The camera angle always hid enimes
b). Enimies take lots of bullets, yet you barely find any. You usually have to run.
c). There were lots of startling moments, especialy with the hunters breaking down doors.

Silent hill 2 was the scariest game I have ever played though.
