The end of Paranormal Activity ruined it. Jesus christ it was terrible...I'm sitting in the theater pissing in my pants cause that movie is really freaky. the build-up throughout the whole movie is great and it really gets you freaked out. then the end takes a massive dump on what you have just watched by being a retarded piece of garbage.
I thought that film was terrible until the ending. The whole thing is just a slow, drawn-out, voyeuristic bore-fest until the hilarious ending which, although awesome, still didn't make it worth watching
Paranormal Activity seems to be the most marmite movie released in a long time. Yeah, from the outside it's pretty stupid (heck, most horror films are) but if you can let it take you it's fucking terrifying.

But I think everyone can agree the jump scare at the end was dreadful.

Worst movie ending as far as I can think of would probably be Mirrors; the ending was crap! The guy gets trapped in the mirror world? It's not even explained HOW it happened! A giant explosion happens and bam he gets trapped but that's just it, he killed the beast...It would've ended better had they let him be trapped in it around the middle of the movie as a way to prevent him from reaching the girl who had the schizophrenia, but at the end? It didn't make any sense because the beast died; and also, how come there's no sound in the mirror world? It's a mirror I get it but they should at least talk backwards to make it get the right effect of mirroring.

So yeah the worst ending I ever saw was Mirrors because it made absolutely no sense and showed no happy ending even though it was a horror movie! You'd think they would at least give a happy ending in the real world but no, it's only him standing there, figuring out what happened and where he is!

I Am Legend. The focus-grouped ending missed the entire point of the story. It turned the movie from an exceptional story of self-reflection into a mediocre (and poorly animated) zombie movie
yeah, there's an alternate ending that makes a bigger point of how the 'zombies' can communicate and feel love and such. The idea of zombies being afraid of this human who sneaks in and steals them for his mad experiments is really cool, it's a shame they didn't roll too far in that direction.

Also Monster A Go-Go, known for it's spotlight on mst3k had a truly awful ending.
All of a sudden the narrator jumps in and explains that the monster just went away, nobody knows how or why, and now the movies over.
I don't know if they ran out of money, or the actors walked off set or what, but that's the worst ending I can think of. Check it out [http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yKs_UqLcnwA](narrator kicks in around 2:50, couldn't find a shorter clip)

I thought it was quite witty [the ending of Shutter Island]. Never saw it coming and I don't think it would have worked better the other way.
I'll have to agree with you on this one. if it took that whole conspiracy route of the story, It would've felt remarkably contrived and gimmicky. I liked its use as a sort of red herring-but had that been the stories legit plot twist,I would've been remarkably REMARKABLY pissed

For me, the Mist had a hugely disappointing ending. I enjoyed the film up until then, but the ending and the motivation for the events were just so rushed and out of character.

The one with Daniel Craig? Or the old one? Because I thought the Daniel Craig one ended quite well.

On topic: yeah, I'm gonna go with the newest Indiana Jones. Aliens and him getting married. Ugh.

The serious one, not the spoof in the 70s? How is that a bad ending? How is it bad enough to retroactively destroy an otherwise great movie? How are your cinema tastes so stupidly high. (Incidentally, what's the worst movie you've ever seen?)

Yes the newer one with Daniel Craig. For some reason I did not enjoy that movie. The ending actually made me say this movie sucked.

It was number one on my list until Disaster Movie came out. Then Disaster Movie was the Worst Movie ever with the second worst ending.

I actually enjoyed the new Indiana Jones movie, it was a bit not real with some of the stuff that happened in the movie, but a least I enjoyed it. And try to use spoiler tags.

Hmm, sort of agree with you there on the ending. It seems like they shot the scene with Red finding the marking on that beam that Brooks left, and then decided it would be too depressing to make him hang himself ... which led to super-fun happy ending.

My choice is Knowing. A nice, intriguing sci-fi film about the end of the world suddenly implodes 10 minutes from the end. What the actual fuck.

S. Darko. The sequel to the best movie ever made.(Well what can you expect when all the good actors, writers, and Richard Kelly are gone) But seriously SHE KNEW EVERYTHING HAPPENED WHY THE FUCK DID SHE LEAVE!
Is S. Darko the sequel to Donnie Darko? I haven't even HEARD of S. Darko before, when did it come out? And is it any good?

OT: Donnie Darko. What was the point of that movie if he was just gunna get squished in the end anyway? Still, I loved it ;)

The point of Donnie Darko is that Donnie has to understand why he gets squished. He needs to see all the crap that happens in the tangent universe that means it's better off if he dies (and he needs to die anyway to close the tangent universe, or else all hell breaks loose)

S.Darko has none of that, yes, they close the tangent universe, but having seen Donnie we know that has to happen, so there's no suspense, nothing driving the plot. And the characters don't undergo any sort of change (since, bizzarely, the focal characters are the manipulated dead, the guy who goes back in time to squish himself is a minor character)
If S.Darko was the first one it wouldn't be too bad, as there'd be some mystery about whats going on. Or if it did something interesting with the time travel (beyond the nested loops which just cancel out) it could be worth it. But it ends up like Ocean' Thirteen, they explain what they're going to do, and then do it, with no hitches. Exciting. S.Darko isn't a bad film, it's just utterly meaningless.

i must disagree on no country for old men,

i liked how the javier guy killed the guys wife and i thought that it was cool how he got in a car accident and wandered off, thats how coen brothers movies are depressing in the end, which i like
Also the ending of the film kept true to the book, which is a must for me

Well if you read the book the ending is slightly different (not as depressing). However Stephen King was involved in the reworking of the ending for the film, he said he wanted something that would hit home that much more, you can't deny that he achieved that.

The fucking ending to the Lakehouse. Pissed me off so much! Guhh! It was all set up for a bad ending, and they just defied physics (or time, or whatever (no seriously, THEY DID)) to make it have a happy ending!

GUHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!

Also, while I still love it, the ending to The End Of Evangelion was quite a shock and I was not quite sure what I was supposed to do with it

The first time I saw From Dusk Till Dawn I caught it on a movie channel without reading the description. It looked like an awesome Quentin standard, dialogue driven movie and I was looking forward to seeing George handling Quentin's demented character. And then Harvey Keitel and Juliette Lewis show up and I think it's going to get awesome... Then come the vampires... It wasn't bad I suppose, but it was extremely disappointing. Then again it was a Robert Rodriguez movie and he's no where near Quentin quality (in my opinion).

Fucking aliens?! What the fuck was that about!?
I'm curious as to know what you didn't like about the aliens? (I really liked the movie) You got the religious connections? Don't mean to be condescending, but my father didn't like the ending because he didn't understand it, don't think he has read anything in the bible.

Also, I don't like movies where the ending is twisted so that it is a good ending, even when it wasn't remotely likely the ending would be positive.

Bit of an obvious one, but the new Indiana Jones movie. I mean, aliens? Really?

It might've been alright maybe, if they didn't look so damn stupid...and if yer man from Transformers was removed from the movie.
Or all the fucking CGI.
I had watched the previous 3 films' making-of-features, and they were all so real. Real snakes, real tanks, real spiders. They used tricks but very little computer effects. There was so much love in it.

And right after that I watched the fourth one. CGI gophers, a CGI freezer that's... errr... tossed out of a nuclear explosion with Indy in it, CGI jungles, CGI termites, CGI monkeys swinging CGI-vines with that fucking kid CGI-swinging after them like Tarzan. And yes, CGI aliens. Raiders had a huge room filled with thousands of snakes. Indy 4 had like 5 actors in front of a green screen.

Also very funny: in the features on the dvd, Spielberg is telling how he felt about the aliens, and he quotes his conversation with Lucas, it went something like:

GL: "I changed my mind about the aliens, we're not gonna do that, there's too much of that stuff around."
SS: "THANK FUCKING GOD, so what then?"
GL: "Yeah, they're not aliens, they're interdimensional beings."
SS: "O....k... so what do they look like?"
GL: "Oh, like aliens."

It was probably at that point that Spielberg said "Fuck you and your stupid movie, I don't even care anymore *slams the door and drinks himself into a stupor*"

To me, that movie doesn't even exist. But yeah, terrible ending.

And the ending...oh,well no more ideas?
Let's use ALIENS!
