I find it funny that that you would take anyone serious on the internet.
I find it funny that people (like you I'm assuming) want to garner internet fame and be an internet tough guy.

I hate that--I try and call people on that kind of behavior by taking them seriously and starting an in-depth discussion on their 'reasons'.

I figure it's a win-win: if they're a troll, they're not going to have much fun with someone who takes them seriously but calmly and rationally; if they're not, well hey--someone took them seriously instead of just insulting them!
Did you ever uncover anything rational? :p

I play up misanthropy for laughs. It worked well until the moron in my group of mates actually believed that I went into hibernation for the Summer so I didn't have to look at people...

Meh, he's a moron and doesn't count.

Do you want to be 'internet cool' or do you actually hate people?
I think they just want to be 'internet cool' by pretending they have no souls.
Silly people, everyone has a soul, it's just that mine is black and shriveled.
Ah that just made my evening. Now irony pisses me off cause I can never tell when something is ironic or just seems it but tat statement sounds pretty ironic. or maybe just hypocritical...
I hope it came across as irony, that was the idea.

I blame Max, since he is clearly the coolest person in existence, and is also a misanthrope.

For sure. It's what people - especially young people - do to get attention: act deep and aloof and cold. It's a desire to be seen as interesting. To be seen as cool. It's the same as when a kid's in high school; the more discriminating they are with friends, the more kids want to be their friends.

In short: young people are stupid. Good news is, most of them will grow out of it. And we can all ignore the people who don't. :D

People think he's cool because he slings around a few dead hooker and 'i hate people' jokes.

He's one of the people I'm aiming at with this post

... I find it funny how everyone suddenly made a 180-degree turn and are now saying it's silly to be a misanthrope, when some of those same people are the very ones that have littered all the other threads with misanthropic comments.

Oh dear god yes.

Maxthereaper is one of the biggest culprits. He's not such a bad guy, but his faux-misanthropia can get quite annoying.

And his babbling fans are really annoying to boot.

I am totally open to everyone I meet being a perfectly rational and pleasent human being. I just dislike humanity in general because in amongst it is some horrific shit - whether that be the world's violent gangs, abusing tyrants, the world's total morons, or indeed the world's incredible amounts of useless bueracracy. I am aware I will most likely have no encounters with such in my life (unless I happen to be misfortunate), and hence have no problem with people in the street.

I have a lonerish personality type that prevents me from becoming emotionally attached to... well, anyone really. The girlfriend's I've had in the past have hated me for it, and I've got several friends who call me a heartless bastard. That's cool though, they've known me for... Years now, and we get along.

I don't have a great many friends in real life (that whole emotional attachment thing), but I'm not someone who pushes people away. While I may be reserved, I am a fairly out going and rather friendly person.

That said, I do feel I see humanity as sort of an observer, since I don't really interact terribly well, and thanks to media brainwashing, my own twisted imagination, and a deep seated resentment at my own social issues, I really do feel like the world would be better with a few hundred... million... fewer people running around on it.

As far as these two questions:
"If you hate all people do you have any friends and do you hate your family as well?"
"If you hate all people why bother posting on a discussion board (with other people)?"

I don't hate all people. I just greatly dislike the vast majority. Someone before me said that they expect all people to be assholes and to suck, until proven otherwise. This is more or less my view. Everyone on Earth is a baby-eating money-laundering Zombie-apocalypse waiting to happen. The individual, on the other hand, is often an entirely different thing.

Also: My posts would probably flow better/make more sense if I slept more.

Also and totally off-topic: I totally didn't win the Mega Millions lottery! Sadness! I wanted $333,000,000! =D Oh well, buying the tickets last night was giggledy.

Well, Yahtzee is making a career out of being a misanthropic dick to everything he talks about, and even before zero punctuation, being misanthropic and edgy was cool.

Yeah, but I was joking. I like Max.

I don't really see anything wrong with misanthropy. The internet is a place of expression, and no one should try and heed that.

Because hate is powerful. On the internet it loses its power, as most dont care for the typed word. So if you strike at their interests you are SERIOUS BUSINESS-ing their likes. So they will hate you "FO REALZ"
