Well, what sort of impact is it really making? It's not really any call to improve the site or hold it accountable for the stories it chooses to publish or the actions it takes. It's just taking your ball and leaving.
Depending on how you choose to go out it could cause more rifts in the community. I'd rather see someone explain why they cancelled their PubClub sub/decided to leave the forums calmly and ask for a ban that way than go out in an expletive-laden blaze of glory. There are ways to make a greater impact without being excessively dickish.
It's been the centre of attention for six months. This specific instance of taking their ball and going home is becoming a hot topic on here sufficient to get its own thread (and leaking into others). On top of that, I can't help but feel that the forums have slowed down and are a lot less enthusiastic than last summer, so there likely were a few more people silently leaving than I believed. Maybe the weekend will show me otherwise. I doubt this has escaped the attention of the staff.
The only one I can remember going out in a blaze of fury is this fellow.

Other than that, there have been mostly calm posts explaining why they no longer want to be here. Taking your ball and leaving can be the most effective option available as 1) it avoids cries of censorship (mostly) and 2) it shows the staff you are indeed willing to do what you say. That, and the people who left genuinely felt unwelcome here.
