modern campers stationary warfare is aweful for a list of reasons:
shotguns as secondary weapons
autopistols
thermal scopes
heartbeat sensors
camping
unbalanced
overall the gameplay wasnt that great for me

if you pay attention in the story of battle field bad company (a much better game) one of the characters makes a reference to heartbeat sensors

It's just such a high profile game that it's bound to get more attention.

Personally I loved the single player campaign, but found the multi to have serious balance issues.

Bad online, rather idiotic weapons and playing strategies, lack of dedicated servers for PC...

Yeah.

Oh, and short campaign with a pretty damn bad story. 60-70 bucks for, well, 5 hours of campaign and half-assed multiplayer with no dedicated servers... I'm sure every PC gamer is all over this.

Of course, console owners are no less able to complain about every issue aside maybe dedicated servers because consoles don't usually get those anyways.
gears 1 did

then epic had their brains transplanted into their ass and made stupid fucking matchmaking

Because other people don't like it.
I'm tired of these threads, just accept that others don't like your game and move on.

It is a very fun game with a badass campaign(not saying good story, just excellent gameplay) and an even better online system.
And that is where I disagree.

Ignoring the short and poorly-written single player campaign, the online is a mess of glitches and bugs, balancing issues, and obnoxious players.

I probably wouldn't be as critical of Modern Warfare 2's online if it's predecessor's (Call of Duty 4's) multiplayer wasn't so good,[footnote]Yes, there were issues in that as well, but nowhere near the level of those exhibited in MW2[/footnote]
but as it stands, I simply expected better. That isn't to say I hated Modern Warfare 2, I was just disappointed that it was such a step backwards.

Boring online play and the single player was too short. What was there for the single player was often really quite good. The assault on the Gulag mission was an excellent little set piece which I enjoyed immensely, and most of the other missions were decent too.

There just wasn't enough there!
I have to agree. My first playthrough of the campaign was one of the best 8 hours of my gaming life, I was so full of adrenalin and joy playing it... the Gulag was a real standout mission, as were the oil rig and the amazing Washington levels.

I just really wanted it to go on longer :(

I agree with this and it annoys the HELL out of me, it doesn't happen that much to me. And I must have all powerful vision, because I dont get killed by campers much and no, I dont use cheap weapons much except the FN SCAR and Spas 12. Never used Models either.

I'm pretty sure we hate on all games with flaws equally MW2 is simply the most recent that failed to entertain us so we are having fun at saying how much we don't like it. We deserve at least that much after spending $60 right? Also I see maybe one MW2 thread every few days, I know there is some hate but its not like we are waving a banner that says "DEATH TO MW2".

Additional note: charging $15 for 5 maps didn't help its popularity.
I didnt get the maps either. Just buying a map pack that only had 3 original maps and 2 literally copied and pasted for $15 did not seem worth it to me either.

Personally I believe it's largelly due to it's popularity, like Slipknot.

Although it may be a little short, the online play is nowhere near as bad as people make it out to be, it's still one of the best shooters ever made.

The splitscreen is sublime, which I think is overlooked by most gamers.

I don't understand why so many people hate MW2 on these forums. It is a very fun game with a badass campaign(not saying good story, just excellent gameplay) and an even better online system. It is addicting and exciting, and Spec Ops adds a lot of flavor to the mix. However, I do understand people hate the bugs and such the online has, and the no party chat on Xbox, but don't you think you are blowing those flaws out of proportion?

Please leave your response below.
Cuz of this. I just play it on the 360 cuz its the only online game we have.

THANK YOU

It's a shite game and people can't wait to praise it. Then you go online and you get idiots who think its cool to just use every weapon as a close range assault tool.

like those pricks who think quickscoping is so pro. If you're gonna do it like that, blindfire. I remember playing sniper on older games like Halo 1. Sure, I could use it at close range, but as a last resort. Not go "HAI GUISE, I PICKED SNIPER FOR CLOSE ASSAULT BECAUSE I R SO PRO LOLOLOL". But nah, the days of playing together as a team is gone. Besides team fortress 2, which I am so grateful to have picked up.

Oh and dont bother picking at my response, you guys praise it for realism, and then make a fad like quickscoping. If you can run around pell-mell, barely raise the rifle and headshot somebody who is using an assault rifle at close range in real life, then you can complain about this.

Plus every time I've seen anyone play it online the average voice is up there with the common parakeet. And the language makes a deep south KKK meeting look conservative.

Single player is amazingly short. The missions aren't even that interesting, there's only about two that are worth replaying. Once again Infinity Ward decided to over use the Clown Closet spawning system, and where they don't they just spam you with enough enemies that it feels the same. And the death of the main character was abused. It was emotional when it happened in Modern Warfare the first time, not so much the... what? Fourth time?

Multiplayer broken into itty-bitty bits. Unbalanced guns, over-powered perks, glitches, ludicrous numbers of camping spots, and unbalanced perks. Not to mention the community is annoying, loud, and hostile.

Spec-Ops is pretty fun though, thank god it came with split-screen co-op, really the game's only saving grace. However, it doesn't shine over the massive flaws of the game.

EDIT: New page! Woohoo! That's good luck!

PC gamers have every right to despise MW2. Can't speak for the console crowds, though.
No they don't; they've brought all of it on themselves.
And how exactly did they do that? Some of us were longtime fans of Infinity Ward and, prior to MW2, I owned every single Call of Duty available for the PC.

We have done exactly zero to deserve this kind of treatment, especially since it was thanks to us (remember, COD had it's starts on the PC) that Infinity Ward became so big to begin with.

So quite frankly, I do not see how PC gamers "brought it upon themselves".

People get killed far more often than any other game online (because of how quickly bullets take you down + the ultra fast respawn) and the killstreaks get cheap.

Other than that it's a pretty good game, I don't play it anymore though, too busy.
