To be honest, I didn't mind it. At first.

Campaign was short, but it was really fun, engaging and cinematic. Unfortunately, after playing it through once it kinda looses it's buzz. The Spec Ops gave me and my friends a few hours of fun, but again.. It got stale after the first time through.

And the multiplayer was fine until people started breaking it...

Just don't like it. Campaign was great fun, but too short and full of holes(Mutually Assured Destruction, anyone?).

Online is irritating. I don't want to have to use a grenade launcher just to play the damned game, I wanna play how I wanna play.

It doesn't have dedicated servers.

There's no map editor, so IW can overcharge us for maps we would've gotten for free.

Finding a game takes ten minutes.

It encourages camping.

Single player was short and left me with a resounding "eh". (WTF was a QTE doing in there?)

Plot holes the size of moon-craters.

It is everything that's wrong with gaming.

For one they downgrade the PC version just to keep the console fanboys from raging about having an inferior version, via removing stuff PC games have had for years. Servers, mods, more than 18 players on matches, large maps, etc.

The single player is ridiculously short for the price. £45 for 5 hours? I've played longer expansions!

The multiplayer is glitched up and unstable as hell.

The DLC is severly overpriced. £11 for 3 new maps and 2 rehashed old maps? Sod that!

Anyone who accepts this bullshit and says "well it's just business, what gives you this sense of entitlement?" really needs to learn that as a consumer you are responsible for the quality of games these companies produce. Accepting this is killing gaming. Other companies will follow this trend of shit. Congrats!

The multiplayer is broken, both in community and weapon balance. And when the other half of the game, the campaign, is a laughable five hours long, it does not a good game make.

You liked the online? I honestly can't see why. You either have to have super-human precognition to beat the campers, or you have to use one of five builds using the cheapest weapons in the game. Seriously, things like the G18 (a fully automatic pistol that can be dual-wielded, and at close range kills faster than a shotgun shell) make the game practically unplayable.
I really dont understand this, i get through just fine, and dont say its because im the highest rank with the cheapest weapons because i just prestieged (rank 1 again) and i am going for mastery for all the weapons. This means im using the unusual weapons. I never had an issue with beating iether campers or people with the G18's. What i do have issue with is the modded controllers. This. Is. Cheating.

The online is so bad and unbalanced that millions of people are still playing it.

They must have done something right...

I just think they completely destroyed the multiplayer with ridiculous killstreaks and making camping a sound tactic. Spec Ops is fun though.

Frankly I don't really like any modern militarized shooters because the online just feels like playing counter-strike with a few (Normally unnecessary) extras and stories are always shit so the campaign becomes rendered useless.

Not only that but just the feel of them, first person shooters are generic by nature and being a huge fan of the genre I just feel like mooching off modern day wars and guns to appease the 12 year olds who think they're hot shit because they spend all their days bragging about the military and memorizing gun model names reeks of extra genericness.

I didn't find the Single Player game too fun. It took me 67 tried to get past that fucking African ghetto crap on EASY. Multi-player is also highly unplayable.

What is the fucking point in Cold-Blooded, Silencers and everything else related to stealth if they can see you in the god damn kill-cam! That defies the point of Silencers! What mostly annoyed me though is starting at level one, the very first multi-player game I played everyone was over level 60! Being killed 50 times in one game is NOT my idea of fun.

And then there are the dedic-oops sorry, console servers which are about as stable as a binge drinker at Alcoholics Anonymous and the only beverage available is water. 20% of the games I played never finished because it would never migrate the host or because everyone pinged out due to lag.

Quite frankly, I find people only play MW2 online are either those who can't do anything better with their time and find being able to kill a Level 1 player with an AC130 somehow inflates their ego or they have serious social problems and can't help but scream down the mic at "n00bs".

Also, seriously! How the hell can an Electromagnetic Pulse be selective!? It would wipe out every damn electrical system or does no one actually understand that an EMP FRIES ELECTRONICS. You would never get your HUD back or anything.
Consoles have servers for MW2? I thought it was all p2p. Anyway I think most people here are pissed of about the various Activision/Bobby Kotick shenanigans.

I don't understand why so many people hate MW2 on these forums. It is a very fun game with a badass campaign(not saying good story, just excellent gameplay) and an even better online system. It is addicting and exciting, and Spec Ops adds a lot of flavor to the mix. However, I do understand people hate the bugs and such the online has, and the no party chat on Xbox, but don't you think you are blowing those flaws out of proportion?

Please leave your response below.
Cuz of this. I just play it on the 360 cuz its the only online game we have.
Man you should really pick up Bad Company 2. In my 48+ hours of online play I've only came across three of the annoying 13 year olds. Only one of which I needed to mute. Plus it has party chat and quick scoping is either impossible or really difficult.

..why? Because it's the gaming world equivalent of a tabloid paper. Except it's not entertaining. It's more like a nasty flu of some sort. It's on everyone's lips, so to speak. And the more loud you are, the more annoying it is.

Also - COD and Halo kids with mouth-diarrhoea managed to get Killzone 2 and MAG "balanced" and "fixed" until no one plays the game. When either game was brilliant before the patching. Halo and COD people also scream (not speak, scream) things about common sense rules for lag. It's like this: if they can't join a game and play instantly on their 10% wifi-connection, that's linked to the adsl-modem connected to the socket via unisolated wire led through 100 meters of rainy trailerpark - then they call support and threaten with suing the developer, and making a stink about it in the papers.

That everyone else in the game will see a warping lagger, and that the settings that allow 10% wifi connections in a trailer-park will actively enable cheaters - that's not their problem. Because playing with package loss and warping characters is just "part of the game".

These people won't shut up. They convince publishers to ruin games, and they ensure that console-gaming continues to be niche - as well as generally known for being an unpleasant, second grade experience reserved for people who are not smart enough to work a PC.

I've no idea why this continues, because I continually chance meeting people who buy the cheapest broadband package, just put the wire in the wall, and think "bits" refer to the plastic socket on the network cable - and still do not think either:
1. playing with lag is fun.
or
2. have package loss and more than a second ping across the globe.

So I guess that's why I hate Call of Duty. It's not the game - it's the people who play it. ;) eh, eh? (..**** is the sarcastic smileys..)

honestly, it is amazing. People whine and ***** like they did with Halo 3 to try and be non conformist and different, but in that that's become the norm. I thought the multiplayer was the best I have ever encountered both online and with mates, and the singleplayer was first rate Hollywood. Sure, the campaign wasn't as credible or immersive as the first's, but online, for me, is perfection.

..yeah, well, then just like the game in peace. It's not a groundbreaking title, the plot is something that wants to be a Hollywood summer-movie when it grows up, the online is extremely bad as long as you can't control your server on your own as long as you compare it to anything else out there.. either still available or that was available as far back as when we used to play on analogue modems. And the controls are created on purpose to be twitchy - but to enable meta-gaming tricks to rule the game. That's the secret of the mechanic - make-belief that lets a certain type of person think they're badass by exploiting their gaming pad skillz..

The rules have then been adjusted so they can better play into those meta-tricks. Which removes systematically any kind of point with teamwork in the game. Basically, they did the run&gun training scenario mission in COD4, and then made more levels exactly like that.

If you want that kind of game - fine. Just don't suggest that anyone else has to like it. "Don't ask, don't tell". I don't care what you do in your spare time, just don't preach the glory of it to others.

I mean - if I end up betatesting another promising shooter, that then is destroyed because of Call of Duty fans who can't keep quiet, for any reason... about how much the game should be "more fun, like Call of Duty". Or "more realistic, like Call of Duty". Or my personal favourite "just more like Call of Duty". It means the end of the genre. No one except these 200 guys on the top of the leaderboard are going to be playing.

Not only that - the ones who do play Call of Duty never play anything else. They only play the game because they've heard how awesome it is, and because they don't know of any other games that they might like. Thanks to IW's Hollywood style advertisement budget. And that's sad. But that's the secret to the success of Modern Warfare 2. A monstrous advertisement budget, and drowning out any other idea in the "overworld", or in the console-mags.

But good grief, the game sucks.

I personally found it to be the easiest Call of Duty game yet.
I played the game all the way through on veteran my first time, got all the achievements, spent 5 hours on spec ops, and finished every level on veteran.

As for the multiplayer, I can't play a round and get a positive K/D spread unless I either sit in the same spot for minutes at a time or run around like Usain Bolt if he was suddenly tempted to kill everyone around him with a knife.
I'll sell it as soon as I find something I want to buy.

It killed sniping. People with names like X-QwiiKScoPDDXx-Z who run around hipfiring the Intervention like its a bloody SMG are not snipers, they're pricks who think they're "PROZ LIEK HUTCH". "What's that, you say?" says MW2, "you actually want to SNIPE snipe? Well fuck you you big pussy, man up and use an assault rifle!". That's why I hate MW2.

Because that's your opinion, not a fact.

I don't like it because the online multiplayer is very unbalanced, which you can't argue; most deaths are random luck. The only way to be good at the game is to not care about winning and camp on your side of the map. Which is pretty much what I did, last game I player I went on a 43 kill streak which ended because some lucky bastard stole a care package from one of the people on my team, got the infamous chopper gunner, and i was instantly gunned down even though i was in a building. How am I supposed to avoid that? Once random chance/luck is thrown into a game, all strategy and fun is gone, for me anyway. I hate MW2 and all CoD games as of late not just because they suck, but because all fps are trying to be like CoD, and they all suck as a result. Resistance 2 is a prime example.

Try silenced ACR w/ heartbeat with stopping power, bling, and ninja, with AA-12 as a secondary with grip and extended mags, It's the class I use; it's unstoppable. Probably the best class setup there is. Then just use predator, harrier, and chopper gunner and the game ceases to be a challenge. It's far more effective than noob tubing.

I don't know why, but once i accepted that te game wasn't perfect, i really started to enjoy the multiplayer.

When you ease off and play for fun, i tend to see that some imbalances don't overly matter, and i've seen a distinct lack of camping or any 'broken combo's'. Even when people use these horrible combo's they don't own the leader board. Each combo has its counter somewhere and thats where a versatile aproach comes in.

In the end, MW1 seemed a little sparse after so much scruitiny that they had to change it, it's a little hit and miss, and not so tightly balanced as the original, but it's still a good (not great) game

It's also a great game for twatting about with random weapons :D (twin uzi's, twin magnums, lightweight marathon)

I think because it's "cool" to hate popular things, I personally dislike MW2, not a bad game btw, because it was over priced and over rated and idiotaclly over hyped.
