nothing wrong with it IN THEORY, but to mis-quote yahtzee, theory is a tricky thing. And this theory falls flat when held up against human nature. People often mistake Stalin for a communist. This is in fact incorrect. He was a dictator who used a few loopholes in communism to gain power. These loopholes, however, are a part of communism itself, and if you were to take them out you'd gain a government much like the one It from A Wrinkle in Time created, where everything is, as Nemorov fears, controlled to a great degree. Communism will never work because greed is a basic part of human nature. It will never be destroyed, and any attempts to stifle it will only result in it rearing its fire breathing dragon head full force the moment your back is turned.

In theory it's the best system around, however people don't like doing more work than others for the same pay. For example someone who went to university and is a great doctor would make just as much money as a farmer, which makes it unfair to the doctor and this causes for people not to go to college and university as they make the same amount of money anyway.

As for why it's hated, Americans think the Stalin government was communist so yea..

From what I can tell, I feel like maybe it gives too much credit to every one playing nice. Because it only takes a few greedy people to fuck it up.
The same could be said of the exsisting system in the US. The current economic state of the world is due to a few greedy people, so it isn't just communism that has this problem.

Of course no real communist state has ever exsisted, so Its hard to be sure what one would be like.

Isn't Communism basicaly the opposite of what America was founded on?
No. America was founded to oppose England's tight laws on religious freedom.

And by the way, i can't quote some of you, but yes. Human nature is greed. That's why the goverment wants to (did?) spend $100 million for private jets for congress (if FOX is a reliable news source, that is).

If it doesn't work in practice then something is obviously wrong with the theory.

The only problem with Communism is that it usually turns to shit. It COULD work if we lived in a world devoid of truly malevolent bastards, but we don't, so it doesn't.

it is impossible for everyone to be equal because all people are different, and communists have realized this so there is a general class and a ruling class this creates discontent and jealousy among the general class. also communists are generally fucking crazy like north korea

Well in communism after a point why would anyone bother going to college or even fuinishing high school if every job pays the same so why strive for a better job. Also, it has been used with dictators but that is more human error really. Prolly could be democratic if people tried.

Commumism doesn't work because people are bastards. Btw, free health care isn't really a communist ideal. We've had free health care in britain for decades. A lot of other capitalist countries have it as well.

No. They aren't fucking crazy like north korea. Korea runs under a system in which the people are forced to believe Kim Jong Il is god. That's not communism. That's dictatorial rule as a god-human.

This is very, very true. It's the one problem that plagues all systems.

It doesn't even work on paper, really. As a theory it is basically flawed because it does not take into account those being governed over. People want to achieve, and thusly be rewarded for their efforts; we are very goal oriented. Communism, and most socialist models, tells us that all we can look forward to in recompense for our efforts was the same thing as the man who can't or won't achieve. This subverts much of our nature, and leads to nothing but stagnation in the very best of rational scenarios. Usually, it leads to a negative growth trend, not even a stable one.
Really, anyone who has studied social psychology and is familiar with the tragedy of the commons or the bad apple effect would be able to see the folly that is communism.

Well communism doesn't work. I don't see why the wealth should be shared. Why should a doctor get the same amount of money as a cleaner? Also it says that everyone is equal, but there are always people more equal than others. Also who is going to distribute the wealth? All it takes is one person to bring that system to fail.

If you had read the Communist manifesto instead of just listening to anti-commie propaganda you would know you could do all those things.
But how? Everything has to be shared equally... how can anyone be an individual in that situation if all is equal? That is what confuses me on the subject.
That's where the American anti-communist propaganda shows it's ugly head.

You fear having your individuality taken away by a communist government.

But that's not what communism does.

It's not "Make everyone the same", it's "Make no one better than anyone else".

Your individuality remains intact, and you can do as you wish, so long as everyone is equal (not the same, just equal).

Finally, it's the perfect system on paper, but in practice it doesn't work as well as it should.

Just like every other political schema in history.
