The Zepling mod, because building a giant airship which completely buggered up the frame rate on my world and me trying to "Fix it" was probably the most hilarious thing I've ever done. Otherwise I count the Technic modpack as a whole to be my favorate mod

Thanks for the treecapitator mod, didn't even know stuff like that existed.

The only mod I'd ever used before was Rei's Minimap.

I don't know... I do really prefer the Voltz pack, but Tekkit just brings so much utility. It's really nice to just get the minerals and stone you need piped right inside your house. With Voltz, most of the fun tinkering will be interrupted by hours of ol' vanilla mining to find all the ore you need.

Well there is the Physics mod. Legend Gear which is basically an homage to all Zelda games. Falling Meteors mod is pretty rad as it adds the much needed unpredictibility to break the routine of Minecraft.

Gravity gun and Portal gun mods by iChun are really nice. Plus they come with your own turret serenade.

There was also the Assassin's Creed mod which looked real nice. Shame I couldn't get it to work.

The Okami mod. It made Minecraft go from looking like ass to one of the prettiest indie games ever.

I used to play Tekkit, but now FeedTheBeast is my favourite technical modpack, i use the DireWolf20 version.

My favorite one is surely Aether mod which essentially adds a sky land dimension(like Nether / End but not lazy) which doesn't affect the standard world at all but once you go there practically the entire game changes (monsters, animals, materials, tools, equipment, world traversal,... just everything works differently), also there are dungeons with bosses and cool loot (and I do mean bosses and cool loot, not a stone hole with mob spawner and a saddle).

Then to spice up the normal world I used Millenaire mod which adds living villages to your world, as in actual villages with things that resemble people who do active work(farming, building, woodcutting, cooking, shopkeeps,...), can train you, will trade, and have jobs for you that will build up your rep in towns, also more you help them out with resources the faster their village will grow, it is a very very cool thing to have.

For a time I also had some mod that added kingdoms (not sure what it's called), anyway it put in simple villages and castles where you would do quests and eventually climb to the rank of king... that part was a bit odd.
But as you got to the top your world would get attacked by dark forces (spawned evil shrines topside that would start spreading chaos and burning down villages) so you continuously had to fight that back and save villagers, concept was good but with everything really buggy it wasn't great to play.

Sadly with updates all these break constantly and almost never work at the same time.

Single mod?
Then it is a tie between IndustrialCraft2 and Aether
But who need a single mod?
There are modpacks that incorporate multiple mods in them

Setup is too long for some unexplained reason, but when it works, it is awesome :D

I use the Feed the beast ultimate mod pack, I can't pick a favourite mod out of it though... the mixture of awesomeness that is red power 2, factorization, buildcraft, Industrialcraft, gregtech and applied energetics is awesome. Applied energistics is probably my favourite out of those though, compact storage, and auto crafting (not massively OP due to cost of building the system) is just awesome.

That's a pretty difficult question...
I like lots of mods.
Like buildcraft, because I love automatic quarries.
Thermal Expansion, because I like tesseracts and redstone energy cells.
Industrialcraft because that's one of the first mods I started playing with.
Computercraft, because it can really help automating stuff.
Forestry and extra bees, because I need an infinite supply of oil.
Railcraft, because the tanks and boilers are so cool.
Xycraft tanks are even more awesome than the Railcraft ones.
I also love Applied Energistics, since it allowed me to shrink my giant wall full of factorization barrels down to a single block disk drive.
Speaking of factorization, it gives me more stuff for my ores than any other mod.
I also love thaumcraft, becauuse nothing says "unlimited power" like a wand of lightning.
I also love Redpower, because it lets me put redstone on the walls and ceiling, the timers and other circuit blocks and of course the frames.

I love too many mods to choose a favorite one.
And that's why I just keep feeding the beast.

WorldEdit & Voxel
Precious stones
World Guard
Vanish

Useful mod tools to keep the server properly turning. There are obviously more, but these are the ones I interact with the most during day-to-day operations.

I play DireWolf's FTB, only because of Applied Energistics. What does the Ultimate pack have in it that's different?

I use Feed the Beast DireWolf 20 pack or Ultimate pack depending on who I'm playing with.

If I had to pick a single mod from the pack then I'd go with Computercraft for how awesome it is, I'm aware that some (most?) people don't find Lua coding fun though.

My backup choice would be if the bees from Forestry, the tree breeding from forestry, Extrabees and Thaumicbees were their own single mod, love playing with bees and bee related products.

A few different things:

The usual suspects are in both though.

Haven't used a single mod for it yet but if I would, it'd be the one where trees fall completely if you cut the bottom block. I guess it could be considered a cheat but I give it a pass because it makes a hellofalot more sense than the vanilla floating trees.

I haven't gotten around to actually trying this but it basically sounds like a minecraft mmo?
