Imagine if you will, your hanging out at your favorite public place of recreation. Quietly minding your own business, killing time when across the way you hear a familiar voice.

"HEY FUCKER! Get ready to eat teeth!" and as you look over to see what all the commotion is about you see your most hated rival taking wide, aggressive steps your way.

Their eyes are locked on yours and curled into an expression of hate. Their arms are out wide as they puff up their chest, and their fists are clenching near their sides. Every indication is that this fight is going to happen, right here and right now. Your back is against the wall and your only options are to strike first or get struck.

What's your first move?

First move: Rally the nearby people to my cause. They are unlikely to stand aside as some big burly bloke saunters over and beats up a girl who hasn't done anything.
So all I have to do is beg for help, or call the police.

I always carry a knife. And I know how to use it. It's never my first choice, but if conflict is inevitable as this seems... Hopefully me drawing my knife would scare him off, as it has in the past. But if not, I'll do what I have to in order to stay in one piece.

I've always been taught to "Avoid conflict at all cost. But if that fails, make sure to strike first and strike so hard that you knock them out in one strike!".

So I'd throw a punch, or kick, as hard as I could - perhaps in a surprise move - to catch him off guard. But only if conflict was unavoidable. In Denmark, no matter how bad you're assulted, there's always the risk of the police pressing charges regardless. It's in the news all the time.

Serious response: As with any potential hand-to-hand conflict, it totally depends on what your opponent(s) is(are) doing and what you have available. I have disarmed/disabled attackers, and been disarmed/disabled (and almost crippled due to stupidity). In all instances, it was due to how capable I was(or wasn't) of identifying points or places that could grant me an advantage.
In one case, I noticed the aggressor preferred using their right arm (swings, punches, and elbow blocks) and wasn't really capable of kicking accurately nor blocking with his legs, so I took out his legs by jacking him in the side of the kneecap.
In another, I was taken down by trying to consistently aim to high (at the bridge of the nose rather than just below the throat) and my arm was twisted.

Before anyone asks; yes, my original school was this backward "hickbilly camp", and quite a scrappy one at that. Professionals in personal defense have a variety of opinions on what is best, but the consensus is always (even if you're an expert asskicker) to avoid the conflict altogether.

For the more entertaining response: I turn into a dragon and kill them.

what i normally do. well, one of two things i normally do:

1) turn on the suggestive flirting
2) yell "no don't beat me up, i'll only get a hard-on, don't!"

both are guaranteed to ensure the swift retreat of anyone who could hate me enough to be considered my enemy or rival

I imagine my first instinct would be to wait for him to get close enough, then crouch and pounce at his midsection, effectively knocking him over.

...I'd be swimming... I don't have any other hobbies that I do outside of my home that don't involve moving faster than a human being can run. I think I'd stay in the pool. If he decided to swim to me, I'd crush his balls and let him sink. Lifeguards could handle it from there.

People don't attack for no reason, you can normally talk them down.
This, in most instances you can talk your way out of the situation. Fights start from a lack of tact from both sides. If i absolutely had to fight, i would pick up a nearby object like a chair and defend myself with that.

I am a heavy, strong guy with a deep, resonant voice and a powerful set of lungs. I also happen to be a bubbling cauldron of rage covered by a thin veneer of calm.
Seeing how I've been in almost this exact situation before, I know how I'd act... I'd wait for the guy to draw a bit closer, then startle him with a roar, charge him and knock him on his ass for further punishment.

Sucker punch if possible, otherwise look for an advantage. I'd more then likely be drinking, so a drink to the face would be a good distraction, followed by either a punch or the bottle. Honor is a nice thing to have, but it rarely stops a pissed off guy from smashing a person they dislike.
