What's your best and worst thing to Happen in the history of gaming ?

Well is subject speaks for its self. So in your opinion what is the be best and worst thing to happen to gaming?

My best: it would have to be wireless controllers and whatnot just the whole facet that we do not need to pull to console halfway in to the living room to play it.

My worst: in game conversation with mic's .just the ship the people spit out in it. It's incredible .

Best:Starcraft being released in 1998.

Worst:When next generation consoles got released and a huge mass of new comers came in buying casual games wich made developers dumb down there games to reach the new crowed....

Hard to nail down a "best" for me... I could pick out a bunch of games that were the best for it's genre a console or whatever but nothing that could encompass all of gaming.

The worst is pretty easy for me though: The rise of Publishers as the controlling force in the industry instead of the developers. I mean doesn't it seem to produce only bad things nowadays?

My best: Xbox LIVE going online, letting us play with our friends, and even meet new ones easily. I've tried both PSN and the Wii's sorry excuses for online, and I've got to say, it was rather awful.

My Worst:Game developers coming to the startling realization that they don't need to make good games, as long as they make money from them. That's why we got games like Halo: ODST and Two Worlds.

The Best: The founding of BioWare and Bethesda Really though the PS2 for me really was the best thing to happen in gaming since I started gaming a lot.

Worst: The Wii, honestly I want it to fall into that special ditch reserved only for things meant to disappear and never return to haunt us.

Christ, I dunno. The actual best and worst? Hard to really say. How about I just give you some high and low points that seem reasonable on either end of the scale? Okay? Okay.

HIGH: Atlus releases kick-ass games like Persona 3 and 4, and SMT: Nocturne. (Of course, Atlus releases alot of good-and-depthy games, so no surprise there.)

LOW: Sega loses its standing in the video game race. I liked Sega.

Worst: The fervour surrounding fanboys and different consoles.

Best: internet. Revolutionized how we get games & demos, made multiplayer work*, and opened the way for things like WOW and Steam.

*Split screen is only useful if you live in a dorm.

Worst: insane DRM. From SecuROM destroying firmware and introducing rootkits, to Ubisoft's insane only online singleplayer games...
