the people who died in the planes in 9/11 had it coming except the ones that fought back.
There's a controversial opinion and then there's a "you're just an fucking idiot opinion"

For the purposes of not getting suspended, that may or may not have been directed at you.
Sorry if I believe that people don't deserve to live if they're going to let themselves be kidnapped and killed by people with box cutters. Fortunately, opinions are like assholes and everyone of them stinks. even yours
Everyone is brave and noble on a forum when their lives are not in danger. It is unlikely that the general people on the plane really had any idea of what was going to happen. Most terrorists (up to that time)take hostages for political agendas and generally waiting it out is a good idea. As for them deserving it I would suggest you drop yourself in Somolia and within a few minutes you will likely have a gun pointed at you with the intent to kill I would like to see if your pseudo bravery is still there. Believe it or not I am not shitting on you but I don't believe you have been in enough of those type of situations to justify the statement. But like you said, opinions are like assholes.
Ok, let's go in a completely random direction here. I'm talking about people being held hostage by KNIVES, not by guns, not by explosive devices. FREAKING KNIVES. From what I remember hearing, the people were held up by people with box cutters and knives, not guns or anything that would immediately compromise those planes. What their motivations are is irrelevant to my statement. My point is they were held hostage by a group of people likely less than a quarter of their number with KNIVES. I've been cut with a knife enough to leave scars. It hurts but I'll risk a few scars as opposed to waiting for death as they fly the damned plan into a building.

Abortion, they spelled "killing babies" wrong.

The definition of marriage is a partnership between a man and a woman, nothing else.

A kid can get himself killed in war but can't have a [alcoholic] drink legally?

In the few years we have left with natural gas/oil and with food problems combined with overpopulation. And we decide to abandon space exploration? We should be looking into that, like now.

If you're going to advocate the execution of handicapped children, could you not quote me to do so? Thank you.
You're asking someone to limit what they are saying in a thread about controversy?
Hypocrite.

I don't think you should feel bad or pity people who commit suicide. I don't feel bad for those people at all. Its cool to feel bad for the family members and such. But if they were depressed all the time, the family would't really be losing that much.

I think the psychological effects of being raped are no worse than a violent beating.
Have you been raped lately?
No. Have you? Have you been violently beaten lately? I just can't see a logical reason why rape would do worse than a violent beating... maybe a very violent beating would be a more appropriate term but still. I mean the kind of beating when someone has you pinned against the ground and you are dreading the next punch, but you can't move you hands because their knees are pressed on your arms with all their body weight and you have to keep enduring the seemingly endless incoming punches. By the end, you are a bloody, teary mess lying on the ground. It takes a long time to get over something like that.

All I can say is The Zeitgeist Movement.
I've gotten some hate for my desire to remove money from the world and unite nations under technological management.

No my ass is fine thank you.

However, I do teach martial arts and have talked to many people who have had severe beatings and/or have been raped. From them I gather the difference is pretty fucking big.

(Beatings can obviously be mentally scaring so I am certainly not arguing that; only that there is a difference)

My controversial opinion? Probably concealed carry on campus. I think our universities here in the US would be much safer if students were allowed to carry weapons concealed while on campus. I also think we should lower the drinking, voting, military sign-up and ect. ages all to 16. I think our culture would benifit from a single coming of age, as opposed the the current system of gaining your legal rights at half-a-dozen points, and I think anyone who isn't ready when they turn 16, won't be any more ready when they turn 18. I also think that age of consent should have a loophole for people close in age. Someone shouldn't be guilty of statiatory rape because they turned x age a few months or even a year or two before their significant other. I'm all for stem cell research, and I'm pro-choice. Basically pick one.

If every human being died, it would only be a good thing. I include myself in that.

Please contest this opinion, as I would love to change it.
I think our potential for future goodness outweighs the destructiveness of our present, even how unlikely it is that we will fulfill that good potential.

I'm an anti-theist who opposes: equal rights, the notion of human rights, democracy, currency, and would sell out my race in favour of machines or aliens.
Please note that these are just things I am comfortable to admit and does not include things I consider petty or irrelevant.

I don't really see how you can come to such a conclusion unless you have been raped yourself. Have you been raped? If not, how can you even begin to speculate on the psychological effects that would come from such a traumatic event?

I think there should be no law but one:

Do literally whatever you want, so long as you don't get in the way of anyone else doing whatever they want.

Also, there should be no one in charge, education is pointless, all religions are incorrect, capitalism is evil, and communism has never existed.

Large banks and corporations should be controlled by the government and run non-profit, or forcibly be split apart and heavily regulated. A pizzeria going bankrupt is no problem, small businesses failing is as natural as sunrise and the world moves on. But, when wealthy men who have complete autonomy over their companies, and no obligation to be held responsible, can send the entire world spiraling to hell because of their poor decisions, it's no longer private.
