There's nothing sacred (heh) about religion. If someone thinks that your religious beliefs are wrong, they have just as much right to argue about it as someone who thinks that your favourite game isn't very good. The law should take precedence over religion, if you're forced by the law to do something against your religion then drink a cup of harden the fuck up and do it.

That i believe in god and that i don't feel religion is pointless. That i like nintendo. Finally that i also think sex should come after marriage.

Edited in response to the post above. Hold on there isn't it my duty as an American duty if the government says i can't pray then isn't it my duty my right to fight for my prayer?

Dear Gay Rights people:

Putting everything else aside, all the moral/political/personal reasons I have for not liking anything you represent, I would just like to address one thing first and foremost.

You are not the Black Civil Rights Movement.

Don't even fucking try.

To compare your dressing up in women's clothing (if you dress up in anything at all) and marching through San Fran to the African Americans who sat at lunch counters and were beat up and abused just to be recognized as human beings is disgusting and flawed, and you shame your cause and everyone associated with your ignorance. People were lynched and killed during those times, because being black didn't simply mean that you couldn't marry another black or a white- it meant you were literally sub-human, and could never rise to the white standard. You'll notice in those photographs they did not don bongo drums and wave watermelon slices and chicken drumsticks around during their marches, because that would have been extraordinarily fucking stupid- they were not trying to get the world to accept them by representing how different they were, they were trying to get the world to accept them because THEY WERE ALSO HUMAN.

Your ability to completely suspend any and all public decency during your marches will not convince me to recognize you as human beings trying to get a break, it will convince me that your group consists of the psychologically disturbed who should be banned from any and all family neighborhoods.

I actually pity the normal people who you are supposedly representing, the people who simply want to take their right to gay marriage and prove their value, because you're disgracing their chances of ever being seen as "normal" every time one of you dons a speedo or a fairy costume and runs out into the streets.

Sincerely,
Kingsman

I think illegal immigrants should get paid equally if they're doing work that American citizens are doing, and companies should be forced to abide by this principle.
Why would they be hired then?

If every human being died, it would only be a good thing. I include myself in that.

Please contest this opinion, as I would love to change it.
Why would it be good? And considering your opinion only exists while you're alive, why have all people dead instead of just yourself, if so many of them such as myself do indeed disagree with your view? Infact, I don't mean to take use this as a personal attack, nor do I enjoy using the cliche, but why not kill yourself if that's truly how you feel?

I honestly don't know what to put down. I just like reading all the responses that people give. And most of them have to do with either reforming religion or getting rid of it entirely.

I feel like DeviantArt needs a makeover. Because there's always this dichotomy between the newb artists who draw bad anime and Sonic fanfiction and the very talented artists who actually deserve the comments they get. And there's a majority of people out there that are stuck in the middle getting no recognition because they're developing their own techniques, and they're not given credit where credit is due. Also the whole "pageviews" and "number of watchers" just makes the site more of a popularity fight. In retrospect, it's not the most developed art site despite the fact that it's been around for 5 or so years. That site is bittersweet to me, I've gotten a lot more comments on a lot of my artwork than on my geocities account, but I still dislike it a bit.
I have found Deviant art to be like this right from the start, although I'm not sure if it's controversial I'm sure allot of the "middle class" artists agree whole heatedly.

OT I haven't much to say. My very negative opinions on religion and organized religion has been already stated by numerous people.

I'm pro choice.

Sorta, kinda, pro gay marriage, it's just, I'm more apathetic to the issue, as who cares? If you love one another why do so many feel the need to marry to express it? Maybe this is from the perspective of a straight atheist who can't understand but meh!

As much as it would be cool I don't think that communism could work due to humanity's natural tendencies for corruption and greed. But I hate capitalism with vengeance, the state of the world today economically and even overall, is due to capitalism encouraging people to be even more greedy and ruthless than usual.

That the western countries are just as horrid and evil as the east, the west are just are much better at brainwashing and indoctrinating their people. The uprising and rebellion in the Arab world should be happening in the west as well, the poor and helpless are treated so badly it's about time we rise up and take the fuckers down.

1) I fucking hate people who self harm/attempt suicide. How is that going to help matters?

2) I think I might actually be a little bit racist. Black people and white people ARE different, on a deeper level than skin color. Not that I dislike black people in any way, but when people say the only difference is skin colour, that irritates me. Look at the NBA!

3) Girls are definitely more attractive than guys, regardless of sexual preference.

4) People who believe in God are morons. I was a christian for 20 years but everything that can be attributed to God can be more easily attributed to random chance and coincidence. Every story I have ever heard about anything to do with God (healing, chance encounters, other assorted "miracles") are either fake or psychology or can be explained by understanding the laws of probability. I so wish I figured this out earlier in life.

5) Politics is stupid. Voting is pointless. Democracy is also shit. At the end of the day, it's impossible to tell if a candidate is actually a good candidate until they are actually in charge. So much of politics is not based on policy but on public image and all sorts of shit. Also, it really doesn't matter who is in charge, politics is a zero sum game and your always gonna lose some things and gain in other areas.

6) Everyone in the world cares what other people think of them, some people are just more honest than others. So many people in the world are so fake it's unreal. Everyone is, but to different degrees.

7) Every act any person ever does is selfish. People do everything to, in some way make things better for themselves. Even if it is something like "oh I'd feel bad if I didn't help them" or w/e.

8) Free will is an illusion. Your choices are based on your personality, which is based on your genes and your environment. Neither of which you have a choice over.

9) Everything is shit. I just don't know why yet. There are a million reasons why everything is in some way completely awful. Except Star Wars. Please don't ruin Star Wars for me.

-Every human being is entitled to their opinion and should be able to speak of it in the presence of others, even if the others do not agree with them. Tolerance is the key, my friends.
-I also understand the importance of religion and the moral standards that exist because of some teachings, but it is truly in Human action that decides what goes with out lives. Religion is for teaching us to be kind and such, but most of the time, it just divides people, and gives them a reason for hate.
-I recognize that a global economy is what 'cuts the chaff' of the world markets and that competition, outsourcing and globalizing is the reason for many of the things we have now, for the prices.
-A shorter human life is better than an eternal.
-Peace is always good to have. But, sometimes, war is truly necessary.
-Also, 2012 is a lie. Goddamned Mayans ran out of rock.

That clearly wasn't my point.
I think he was trying to say that the planet doesn't care about what we do to it.

OT: I believe that, in the current state of the world, religion is absolutely worthless, and if anything, it does more harm than good. Yes, religion played a vital role in the past, and we may have needed it then, but now? I don't think so.
No one says it better than Patton.

Also, 31 pages? I feel like I'm in the minus world.

I'm a Catholic (my user name refers to the games Diablo, not Lucifer) and I think that if somebody believes differently then they leave me to my belief and I leave them to theirs. Who cares what other people believe? It's their fucking choice.

Alright, here we go:

- Patriotism is a crock of shit. Yes, you can like where you live/where you were born but i think it's completely ridiculous to act as if it makes you an intrinsically better person, and to rabbit on and on about how fabulous your country is... It's just a land mass, it doesn't mean anything.

- Complete separation of church and state. Yes, you can have your religious beliefs, but if we are allowed freedom of religion, then you can't run a country in accordance to certain religious beliefs/practices but not others. That'd be unfair. So, just take religion out of the equation when it come to politics.

- Prostitution should be legalised. So should all drugs. People can do what they want with their goddamn bodies.

- I don't think that we should all automatically have to love/respect those that we are related to. If they're the sort of person you would actively avoid in every day life, why on earth should the fact that you share some genetic information mean that you can't tell them what you think of them, in the way you would with any other person?

- Oh yeah, and i want to be able to smoke in bars again. Yeah, health risks, blah blah blah. We're all going to die anyway.
This is the only post I've come across so far that I agree with completely, especially about the family part. I've always felt that the "You have to love family!" excuse was a little weak.

My controversial opinion is that it was tasteless to celebrate the death of Osama Bin Laden.
The man killed hundreds of people, and he promoted himself as an enemy of Western culture, but he was still a human being.
This.
I remember the huge flame wars over this topic, on the Escapist and other forums.

Now, I'm Canadian, so I don't really feel all that pure, bottled patriot-hate. But I still didn't like that entire, "I'dda shot 'im mahself" mentality.

Another unpopular opinion I have is that South Park, Family Guy and American Dad are all generic, stupid and unfunny. This site tends to agree with me, but I've been threatened for saying that.

EDIT: Also, war is necessary sometimes. Blood is the price of freedom, after all.
I've had yelling matches in class over that opinion.

I support the death penalty. Some people deserve to die. End of story.

War is a part of human nature, from the smallest school yard scrap to the largest global conflict it will never truly go away.

Being liberal does not automatically make you right.

Jingoism and patriotism are not the same thing.
