Okay people! Time to go through the looking glass and answer the ageless question: What's your favorite conspiracy theory?

Mine would have to be the one about the reptilian humanoids. You know, the stuff from David Icke and the likes. 99% batshit crazy and 1% of just plain creepy.

I love all the theories concerning the Illuminate. It's all so ridiculous that I have to laugh. Also, the interpretations of the things leading up to armageddon in the Bible.

I like the one about the KGB egging conspiracy theorists on, because they make the US government look bad.

It's not really a conspiracy theory in that the people involved have strong motives and resources to do it, though, which a good conspiracy should lack.

Flat Earth Society or whatever the hell they're called. It's so funny but don't visit their forum or you'll lose a few hundred brain cells.

I like the conspiracy about how the US government is the actual source for all of the 9/11 "Truther conspiracies", to make itself look more powerful and covert than it actually is. That was done to hide the truth that there was a colossal failure in security that lead to the 9/11 attacks and that a fair amount of the US population are so willingly ignorant as to believe the 9/11 Truthers conspiracies are true.

I used to love conspiracy theories, but over the summer I was around a guy who obviously liked to eat, breath, and sleep conspiracy theories. The overexposure just led me to hate them with a passion. Seriously, there was no rational thinking behind it. Something would happen and it would automatically be a huge conspiracy in his head. Now I wish I hadn't typed this out cause I'm annoyed just thinking about it.

One thing that he used to always rail on, however, was how the Catholic Church is supposedly run by the head of the freemasons/illuminati who was also the pope. Weird.

Suspicion is healthy but there's a limit to everything.

I always like to give conspiracy theories the benefit of the doubt, I'm not one of those guys who dismisses everything that goes against the official truth (within reason).

I'll buy the fake moon landing, the 9/11 inside job, and the UFO Area 51 alien conspiracies to a certain extent but I just can't go along with the flat earth society or the lizard people.

Also I'm kind of tired of the conspiracy that there's an omnipresent omnipotent entity that watches and controls everything.

The atheist population of this planet is still under 3%. We still have a long way to go.

Hollow Earth [http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hollow_Earth]

The Wikipedia article is funny enough but this website [http://www.ourhollowearth.com/ourhollo/index.html] cracks me up every time.

I'm not sure "within reason" applies here, since your three examples rely in part on complete lies. It's one thing to think the government isn't telling us the complete truth (which is actually probably a safe bet) and another entirely to believe things with shoestring
"proof."

And that's assuming your "to a certain extent" disclaimer means you don't go into details like the physics fail behind 9-11 claims or certain claims about the moon landing.

All that Ancient Alien crap.

Seriously, they try to include EVERY mysterious thing in the world as part of their theory, from Atlantis to the Bermuda Triangle.

It's all easily debunked stuff, but makes for a fascinating story.

Green Arrow: Don't listen to this guy, everything's conspiracies with him.
The Question: Not "conspiracies". Conspiracy. Singular.

Question: The plastic tips at the ends of shoelaces are called aglets. Their true purpose is sinister!

OT - Yeah The Flat Earth Society are crackpots. But at least they have a Bad Religion song named after them.

Yeah, this one. When I first heard about them I HAD to check if they were serious... I can't believe they actually believe that shit.

To a certain extent means for example that I'm not against the idea that the American government would let 3000 people die to justify an invasion of certain middle eastern countries so they could obtain oil and build army bases. I'm pretty sure it's a well known fact that the American government did something similar on December 7 of 1941.

I'm not against the idea of the faked Moon Landing because the It's pretty clear that the only reason America was involved in the space race was out of a dick waving contest with the Soviet Union, and the fact that NASA pretty much went to shit right after 1969.

As for Area 51, well why the fuck not? With all the religions on this planet why are UFO believers getting all the ridicule?

It's a well known conspiracy theory, not a fact.

con·spir·a·cy the·o·ry
Noun:
A belief that some covert but influential organization is responsible for an unexplained event.

Do tell of these "Unexplained events" that are caused by a united group of every religion on Earth.

If a human can program a videogame, why can't a higher order being program a universe?

Unless you were specifically referring to people who adamantly stick to the idea that EVERYTHING happened EXACTLY as their Holy Book says. Those people need to put down the Bible and pick up a freaking smartphone all damn ready.

No, based on what I looked up and the history books I read it did actually happen, hell even the Japanese ambassador was held up for 3 something hours just so they could say japan attacked without a declaration of war, so that the Americans could look like victims.

But hey, besides the Internet, history books and TV what do any of us really know about events that took place 70 years ago?
