Trivia:
At least back in the 1980's many members of The Flat Earth Society were prominent genuine scientists who joined the Society on a lark because it amused them to dream up ways to "confirm" that the earth was flat. It was a joke to them, and it probably is to many of the Society's 'loyal' members today.
Ahem...I'll just leave this here...[footnote]I've never gotten to say that before. Is it as annoying as I think it is?[/footnote]
OT: My favorite conspiracy is that The Brovengers and The Injustice League represent two ostensibly opposing Forum Groups but are in fact a front for Conspirators who intend to take over The Escapist.
You want proof? Have you noticed how many Escapists have admitted from time to time to being members of BOTH GROUPS?!?
It's a conspiracy, I tell you!
But now that I've revealed their dastardly scheme they'll be after me! You've gotta help me! I don't wanna die!
Last note before The Men In Black "disappear" me:
Isn't it funny how we don't hear any Conspiracy Theorists griping that the Curiosity landing on Mars is faked? But they'll go on about the Moon Landing. Maybe because it happened within their own life times rather than before they were born.
Selective reasoning, I suppose...

Acton Hank said:To a certain extent means for example that I'm not against the idea that the American government would let 3000 people die to justify an invasion of certain middle eastern countries so they could obtain oil and build army bases. I'm pretty sure it's a well known fact that the American government did something similar on December 7 of 1941.Zachary Amaranth said:I'm not sure "within reason" applies here, since your three examples rely in part on complete lies. It's one thing to think the government isn't telling us the complete truth (which is actually probably a safe bet) and another entirely to believe things with shoestringActon Hank said:I always like to give conspiracy theories the benefit of the doubt, I'm not one of those guys who dismisses everything that goes against the official truth (within reason).
I'll buy the fake moon landing, the 9/11 inside job, and the UFO Area 51 alien conspiracies to a certain extent
"proof."
And that's assuming your "to a certain extent" disclaimer means you don't go into details like the physics fail behind 9-11 claims or certain claims about the moon landing.
I'm not against the idea of the faked Moon Landing because the It's pretty clear that the only reason America was involved in the space race was out of a dick waving contest with the Soviet Union, and the fact that NASA pretty much went to shit right after 1969.
As for Area 51, well why the fuck not? With all the religions on this planet why are UFO believers getting all the ridicule?
