Hey, just wondering what you guy's favorite musical is and why? Also, what you favorite song from it is... You know. If you feel like it.

Mine would definitely have to be Avenue Q. Just the crazy over the top songs and simply ridiculous nature of the show make it incredible. My favorite song from it would have to be "The Internet is for Porn."

Now GOOOO!!!

My favourite number is 'You Can Be As Loud As You Want When You're Makin' Love!'

...

and 'Everyone's a Little Bit Racist'

...

and 'My Girlfriend in Canada'

y'know what? They're all freakin' hilarious.

OT: Not really sure, there're a few that I like e.g. High Society, Avenue Q as mentioned, Singin' in the Rain, Bugsy Malone (Jodie Foster at 15! damn! *hrk*), the Phantom Tollbooth, and a few others, but none I can overtly state as my favourite.

And fucking hell, I haven't seen a lot of them in years... >_>

...

I think I'll go with Avenue Q!! -_-

I'm going to be predictable and say Phantom of the Opera, I just love that musical and the music is awesome.

Rent was alright and Into The Woods is up there since I like the story behind it.

I really want to see The Book of Mormon. I hear it's hilarious and I've only seen a clip from the Tony Awards of one song from that musical that they performed.

Mine would also be Avenue Q and my favourite song from it is probably the money song.

Edit: Completely forgot about Jeff Wayne's War of the Worlds, that would definitely be it.

Jekyll and Hyde, namely for this song.

I loved Jekyll and Hyde but my copy of the sound track doesn't feature The Hoff. my favorite song from it is a toss-up between 3 songs actually, Confrontation and these other two:

My favorite musical though is...Well it's Jekyll and Hyde but Phantom for the longest time. I loved the original because I'm pretty sure Sarah Brightman isn't actually human but one of the higher orders of Angel. The Japanese cast recording of Phantom was another version I loved when and got into when I was more into anime. Favorite song from Phantom though, no matter what is Point of No Return. Sadly when the movie came out the person I was planning to take dumped my sad ass. I'm curious to hear Nosferatu and Spider-Man as well but haven't heard anything from either. Hey, Japanese Jekyll and Hyde!

Les Miserables.
When I saw it performed at one of my local theaters I literally cried. It was incredible, the best performance I have ever seen.

EITHER Les Miserables, Miss Saigon or Phantom of the Opera. Please don't ask me to choose between them.

Probably Bigger Longer and Uncut.
and it's funny because the songwriter from Avenue Q got heaps of inspiration from it.

Also The Rocky Horror show.

It's somewhere between Singin' in the Rain, The Lion King, and The Sound of Music.

...I have to pick Singin' in the Rain
although I was in a pit band performing The Music Man, and that was probably the most fun to perform.

I can't bring myself to like Phantom, or any ALW musical other than Evita. But that's a story for another day.

From Repo! The Genetic Opera my favourite song is the one where it goes:
Zydrate comes in a little glass vial

Oh, musicals, I love so many of them. I used to be a huge musical buff.
When I was young I loved Cats, Phantom, and Les Miserables because they're classics so they were what I was exposed to.
Then later in life I loved Wicked, Avenue Q, and Into the Woods for their darkness and/or messages.
Lately my favorites are probably Book of Mormon and Young Frankenstein for their wit and the way the songs poke fun at musical conventions.
But if I had to pick one favorite, one deserted island musical, so to speak, it'd be Pirates of Penzance. Can't go wrong with a little Gilbert and Sullivan. : )

Throwing in my man card, Moulin Rouge. Really the only musical I've ever watched, but I loved it a lot, especially 'El Tango de Roxanne'.

Really hard to say what my favorite musical is, but one I can really recommend is Dr. Horrible's Sing-a-long Blog.

Repo: The Genetic Opera. Sarah Brightman is my idol, and 'Chromaggia' is amazing. My favorite song is actually 'Everyone's A Composer', though.

Second favorite is probably Hairspray or Rocky Horror, and then Chicago and Dr. Horrible tying in third.

Does Victor/Victoria count? Because if it does then that's actually my second favorite.

Edit: Oh gog I forgot about Little Shop of Horrors! I don't even know where that is on the list, but it's up there. Maybe a three-way tie for third?
