To be fair Donnie Darko didn't come up with the concept JRR Tolkien wrote an essay about it one point.

Mine is a Welsh word, I've lived in Wales all my life but have never had any interest in learning the language. However one word has caught my eye.

Cwtch
Welsh word for an affectionate hug. There's no literal English translation, but its nearest equivlent is "safe place". So if you give someone a cwtch, you're giving them a "safe place".

What's your favourite word and what does it mean? :)
Cwtch is indeed a great word :D

And don't worry, you're not the only one who's lived in Wales a long time without learning the language >_>

I've always loved "indubitably" XD

I can't decide between llama and kumquat. Both roll around in your mouth so delightfully when you pronounce them.

I've always been fond of the term "Pissweasel" since I heard Charlie Brooker say it.

But my fave word has to be "Justice" - no word cunjures up such a romantic notions quite like justice. (With the possible exception of honour.)

Definately Anathema.

I just love the way it sounds, and flows so well. I like to say it, I like to write it but hell, the word never held much meaning for me. Its sound is so beautiful yet its connotations are quite ugly. Quite simply, I do not understand the word. If I could rewrite the dictionary, I'd start there. Words that sound gross should describe gross things - like yuck, slime or goo and vice versa.
