The Witcher has a lot of problems, but I really enjoyed it. Yes, even the combat. Haven't played 2 yet.
...Indie games? The Witcher?
Whaaaaaa...

OT: Recettear: An Item Shop's tale. Very fun, and unique as well.

Can someone explain to me what EVE is? I've heard of the game before, just never read up on it.
It's a turn based space shooter MMO I think.

Glad to hear I could be of assistance. Judging by your avatar, you're a man of excellent taste. :)

OT - I'd also like to add the Stainless Steel mod of Medieval 2 Total War. I know it's a mod rather then a full game, but it's truly a work of art. Also, in the same vein, I'd like to put forward Europa Barbarorum.

How has only one other person so far said Uplink? I know that hacking isn't very cool right now around these parts, but that is a damn fun game.

Amnesia: The Dark Descent
Braid
Sam & Max - Season One (download version)

Grim Fandango
Full Throttle
Indiana Jones and the Fate of Atlantis

Sierra:

Gabriel Knight: Sins of the Fathers
Gabriel Knight 2: The Beast Within
Gabriel Knight 3: Blood of the Sacred, Blood of the Damned

From Valve:

Half-Life 2
Half-Life 2: Episode One
Half-Life 2: Episode Two
Portal (haven't played Portal 2 yet)
Left 4 Dead
Left 4 Dead 2

The Longest Journey
Simon the Sorcerer

Revolution Software - the makers of Broken Sword and Beneath a Steel Sky - also get a mention now they're an indie developer.

It's actually fairly easy to build Nyan Cat. The cat is so pixelated in the video that it's pretty easy to measure the length. Bro tip ;)

Cave Story and 5 Days A Stranger were both excellent, though I have to award the title of my favorite to Today I Die and the rest of the works of Daniel Benmergui, lest I lose my pretentious arty gamer cred.

Also, has anyone here played Solar? Its an indie title available on XBLA in which you play as a star. Its not amazing, but its unique enough that I have to give it a recommendation.

That and the Penumbra games, excluding Requiem, which is a puzzle game using the same engine. That is if those count, if they don't than...

Well, I haven't played many indie games recently.

It's almost unfair to include Minecraft, kind of cheating since it's so much more than just a game.

So asides from that, my top indie game from the original humble indy bundle would be Aquaria. Just an awesome game all around, and anyone who enjoys the Metroidvania type of gameplay owes it to themselves to play it. Runner up after that would be Recettear. Mount and Blade would likely be up there as well I just haven't gotten around to gettin it yet.

And speaking of indy games, I'm always on the lookout for good rpg's, like Recettear or Eschalon Book 1 & 2. Last weeks extra credits about game awards showed at around the 3:15 mark showed quick screencap of what looked to be one, with the implication that it was worthy of some kind of reward. I asked in the thread and after sent a direct message to them, but no one responded to me on it. Anyone know what game that is?
