2009 is pretty much done for game releases. What's your game of the year and disappointment of the year.

I got to say mine is either Arkham Asylum or Infamous... I can't decide I had so much fun with them.

Disappointment of the year is Modern warfare 2, even though its still as fun as and intense as COD4 its just more of the same with no reason to shell out $60

Game of the year was definitely Arkham Asylum.

Edit: Wow I forgot about Uncharted 2 (That doesn't speak well of it, but oh well). I'd put that just above Arkham Asylum actually.

Disappointment was either Modern Warfare 2 (not because it is popular) or Assassin's Creed 2 (so long!!).

Also, best game I played this year was Psychonauts. Thought I'd just throw that in.

Seriously, go buy this game, you can burn wood with your mind.

Disappointment of the year: MW2 or ODST. Probably ODST.

game of the year: Batman Arkham Asylum-one of the best games ever, in my opinion. It got me really pissed though when I had found every secret except 3 more joker teeth and I never could find them.

Dissapointment of the year: Halo 3 ODST-the laziest game ever. A copy paste of other halo games with less shields, a 5-hour long story and firefight levels taken straight from story. Might have been good as an expansion pack, but nothing else.

My games of the year (and not just to be contrary) might be Borderlands, ODST, and Modern Warfare 2. My disappointment of the year was Brutal Legend. Don't get me wrong, I loved it, it was just too damn short, and it got a bit boring around the middle.

Game of the Year: Arkham Asylum. Mostly because it's one of the only games of '09 that I've played.

Dissapointment of the Year: I don't know, I haven't played anymore.

I love Arkham Asylum, wish it was longer...

The big let down MW2, due to killing the realism and plausible conflicts, Bionic commando...bout it really.

ODST - I didn't care about the price, but the story and characters were pretty lame for a Halo Game. But the gameplay and levels were awesome

My GotY and DotY are the same game---Empire: Total War. Great game, as I'd expect from a Total war title, but the way Creative Assembly handled the patching process and the poor naval combat made it terribly disappointing as well.

Not sure about either yet. Batman AA was pretty badass, Borderlands is pretty good, I'm pretty hesitant to call it my GOTY, mainly because I haven't tried the multiplayer component and sometimes it is a bit of a grindfest, also I haven't sunk that many hours into it. But like I said, I'm still undecided.

GOTY: Batman, as many have said. I even still play it once and again for the challenge modes.

DOTY: Definitely Left 4 Dead 2. I was a boycotter since the beginning. After hearing some testimonials from people who had the chance to play it, they said "I was real skeptical too, but damn this is fun." I gave the demo a chance, and jesus...more of the same, and even worse in some areas.

Actually, that is not true at all. Did you even touch the multiplayer? And the singleplayer was a mess. The only redeeming feature was Spec Ops, which was kind of cool, but would have done better as a stand-alone game as far as I'm concerned (coincidentally, I said the same about Nazi Zombies in World at War).

Game of the year probably goes to Batman, partly because i thought it would be mediocre at best but was pleasantly surprised.

Disappointment of the Year: ODST, followed closely by L4D2 and Brutal Legend.
ODST- Never have i felt so ripped off in my life. No excuses, bungie robbed me.
L4D2-Fun but not much of a departure from the first. Hard to justify $60 (on sale for 30 now, no qualms at this point).
Brutal Legend- the story lost steam, could be a bit longer, and the humor seemed patchy after the beginning.

I said disappointment not bad game, keep that in mind.

Game of the Year is Dragon Age, with close second Prototype.

My Disappointment? Uncharted (both of them)--They were just so...tedious, and I expected more from all the glory I'd heard from it.
