Assasin's Creed 2, which was a huge surprise cause I hated the first one.

Dissappointment: Brutal Legend

As much as I'm boycotting it, why did everyone think MW2's single-player was miserable? At least it was exciting, from what I saw. Brief, but memorable if you didn't read all the spoilers online.
I thought it was fantastic.

So it was short, but it was some of the finest few hours I've ever spent gaming, total adrenalin rush.

The multiplayer gives me herpes though, but that's mainly down to host advantage.

GotY - Uncharted 2, Batman: Arkham Asylum and Assassins Creed 2.

I haven't really played any games this year that have disappointed me because I was never hyped up for Modern Warfare 2 to begin with.

Game of the year for me is either Arkham Asylum, or MW2. Both amazing games.
Biggest disappointment is Torchlight, in that I still haven't bought it, but in all seriousness Brutal Legend. It was a great game, but I didn't feel like it sold itself well. It is a strategy game, being advertised as an action game. I just feel like it was a disappointment for not being what I thought it would be.

GotY: Fallout 3: GotY Edition (yes it certainly is)

Disappointment: Having to wait til Jan 2010 for Mass Effect 2. An agonizing month of wait still remain.

You fail more than Hitler.
Hitler took a country that was at it's lowest point in history and arguably turned it into the potency it is today, nearly conquering the whole world in the process. What have you accomplished lately?

PS: Sorry, I don't like my products dumbed down. I guess the wording was a bit too strong, but the point was, releasing the PC version later kind of means it hasn't really released yet.

I am hoping that DA:O will be my Goty (saving it for Xmas) but my disappointment in that (from looking briefly at the book) Bioware seem to have level capped at 20??!! :-( I don't like level capping and I know Bioware are fond of it, but 20!?

I wish I knew you so that I could throw up on you right now.

I'd say it has definitely been released. More people play consoles now. DEAL WITH IT.
Love you too.

And it's still inferior in every way. "DEAL WITH IT".

GotY: Left4Dead2 - More of the same? Well that just fine by me, i happened to fucking love doing zombies over.

DotY: Probably Clear Skies or ODST - The list of shit with ODST has been done to death, but Clear Skies was a really terrible follow up considering how good the first was... if you patched the arse off it lol.

2009 is pretty much done for game releases. What's your game of the year and disappointment of the year.

I got to say mine is either Arkham Asylum or Infamous... I can't decide I had so much fun with them.

Disappointment of the year is Modern warfare 2, even though its still as fun as and intense as COD4 its just more of the same with no reason to shell out $60
I agree (about MW2), apart from the awesome, but short single player it just feels like a rehash with mildly updated mulitplayer.
For me though, my Game of the Year is Assassin's Creed II (haven't played AA yet, but ACII has got me by the balls and won't let go). Assassin's Creed was my favourite game of the year when it was released and I couldn't shut up about it. I'm just the same with it's successor which is bigger, longer, more immersive and just plain fun.)
As for worse game of the year, that title goes to Far Cry 2... my god, it was just awful.
Words can not describe how much fun I had with the first when it was first released, and the so called sequel was awful. It took me 4 months to finish, and that wasn't because it was a long game. It was because it was just such a chore to finish. It bored me to the core and even with a fast computer, I had to wait like half an hour for my save files list to load (like wtf!?). I finished it finally, only to find that the ending was crap, regardless of what choice you made.
I should have seen it coming really. Ubisoft's main selling point for it was the fire physics... RED FLAG? Hello!
But, Ubisoft made up for it with ACII.
-edit- Also, inFamous was pretty damn awesome fun too.

GOTY: Uncharted 2. I havent played it yet :p but im getting it at Xmas and it looks great

Disappointment: Arkham Asylum. No offense to anyone, i just think its a bit boring when youre just tracking people and solving stuff. The fighting is fun but a bit too automatic. And i couldnt finish the game because of the bug where you cant continue the mission. But the bossfights were one of the best ever, especially the one with the huge monsters, who you could ride

Im torn between Arkham Asylum and Assassins Creed 2 for my game of the year

my biggest dissapointment would actually be brutal legend, odd i know, but i got insanely bored with the repeated RTS missions and the less run-around-hacky-slashy type gameplay that was shown in the demo... im gonna hopefully keep playing through till i finish the story cos that is good, but frankly im in no rush

another dissapointment for me would be Bioshock 2 being delayed from October to March (i think)... i was really looking forward to that game :(
