A tie between beating CoD3 on veteran and watching the Germans surrender in Chambios (or whatever that French city was called) on listening to the epic final music as the Americans cheered. The other being rising the flag at the end of CoD:WaW on veteran (you see a pattern now don't you?) and having Renoz give you an assuring speech.

I've had some hilarious moments online involving rocket launchers.

Bad Company 2, I was playing online with some tool who was originally on my team, he then swapped teams because we were losing, and continued moaning about how we're a bunch of noobs, who can only get kills with snipers and RPGs.
So I'm running around as a medic when I'm killed, and then shortly revived by some guy who took my kit. So with my new kit I turn the corner to face the guy I just mentioned, so I swap to an RPG and blow him sky high. The dude types in 'OMG' and my screen name, and I started laughing so hard, I thought I was going to hurt myself.

CoD Black Ops, I was playing splitscreen online with my brother on his account. So I'm running around with paticular abandon, when I decide that I'm going to try and get some kills with an RPG. As I get a kill with the RPG, the match ends, and I get the final killcam. That was enjoyable.

Not especially great moments, and involved the use of noob tactics, but they were so damn funny.

Now try to guess what my favorite moment is, would you kindly
Err... Super Mario speedrun?

Thread's about the awesomest thing you did in a game, not your favorite cutscene.
-.-

oh, well I beat Portal in 40 minutes does that count?
Probably. But did you find the dragon?

MGS2 beating Solidus on Euro-extreme was awesome with that epic score kicking in. Nearly made it worth it that I was knackered, it was past 3am and I knew I had about 15 minutes of unskippable cutscenes before I could save. But still, hell yeah.

But I felt my greatest after playing through entire Guitar Hero 3 co-op campaign in one sitting (highest level we ever did was medium but hey ho). This was at a mates house before he had a party and he wanted the co-op songs unlocked so that he had 100% of the game playable when people arrived. We finished literally as people started arriving.
Rocking out to fire and the flames as a reward is the most awesome feeling I've had in my gaming career to date.

When I first played Eternal Darkness: Sanity's Requiem. I was in awe in how good it was and was surprised it was worth the amount of money spent on getting a Gamecube and the game.

When I went 1 to 8 on Halo Reach and won. Thank you Sniper, thank you so much. Some of them thought they would win because of their numbers so I saw them shooting at each other for fun. 2 of them were constantly betraying each other with grenades.

One of my favourite moments was after the ambush in hells kitchen at the 'ton hotel, i set the right traps and played the right way, then i get the news through my info link that Paul made it out and he's alive. As many of you know, there are a couple ways that scenerio can play out, Paul dies in alot of them, but he lived in my playthough and that was awesome.

PS, free E-cookie to the first person who tells me what game i am talking about. Lets put this hardcore forum to the test!

Ah the fleeting moments, where to start?

Old N64 Goldeneye
- playing for the first time on a friend's console. No idea what I'm doing. I can barely work the controls right. I am surprised by a guard. I panic and run around a corner to evade. Weapon! I need a weapon, where is it? O.K. I seem to be holding a grenade now, I'll try that. I try to throw the grenade so it will land just past the corner that I just came around. The guard appears around the corner while I'm throwing. Oh no! I panic again. The grenade leaves my hand and strikes the guard in the groin area. The guard says "oh.." and stops, the grenade bounces back towards me!! RUN AWAY!!! I get maybe 10 feet away and around another corner to hear "BOOOM! Aaaaah!" Bahahahahahahaha!
At that moment, I swear to purchase this game.

Tom Clancy's Rainbow Six:
- Discovering that it is entirely possible to complete the single player mission 'Winter Hawk' using only a sniper rifle. [Terrible AI played a big part in this]
- Explaining to my buddy how to do the same in 2-player co-op
(this included the following sentence: "No, don't shoot! It's m.." (bang! thud)

Counter-Strike:
- Killing the all 7 or 8 of the OPFOR single handed with a Mac-10 (9 on the WTF-o-meter)
- Killing all the remaining 5-6 OPFOR with an M-249 (6 on the WTF-o-Meter)
- managed the same with the pump shotty a few times, but that's not nearly so tough
- creeping along, I heard an enemy on the floor above me checking the cameras and killed him by firing through the ceiling/floor (pro tip: know which walls are soft!!!)
- 4v4 round is down to 1v1, no FBs left, low ammo. Tango is on the rooftop directly above me, I'm on the ground with no cover and nowhere to go but to hug the wall. This isn't good, but maybe I can distract him. I pull the pin on my only frag - but realize to my dismay that I cannot throw it at a high enough angle to get it over the edge of the roof without breaking cover. Pin is already out, so I take a step back and throw it as high as I can. I know its going to bounce off the wall, just below roof level, and I get moving to get out from under it and maybe get as far as I can undetected. The 'nade goes off and I win - wait, what? Well, the guy happened to go look from that corner of the roof at that very moment....

Battlefield 1942:
- after a lot of practice (because every single smacktard joins the Tobruk, Bulge, etc maps on the NAZI side so they can spam tanks at the allies) I have become *very* proficient with the bazooka. Many capture the flag players hate me because I can nail light tanks in the ass that are traveling directly away from me at a high rate of speed. Also, I am more proficient with the engineer's rifle than most snipers are with the sniper rifle. Seriously - once or twice I accidentally spawned as a sniper and said "Ah fuck! What the hell am I supposed to do with a sniper rifle???" [Ah, capture the flag, good times! If only it was 1/2 that much fun in CoD4:WaW!!]

BF 2
- Uh... whats the name of that north-south winding river valley map? Chinese base at the top, Yankee carriers at the bottom? Anyway... as squad leader, my group held on to the (sawmill? lumber yard?) control point on the river bank on the far right side of the map for the entire game. We got shelled. We got bombed. We got strafed. We were assaulted amphibiously. It was brutal. We had enormous casualties. Yet we held on. I was so proud.

Honorable Mention (because I had so very many ragequit moments); EVE: Online
- getting into a spatial anomaly (or whatever they were called) for the first time. Very big "Ooooh! Ahhhh!" moment.

[This space reserved for my next multi-player game]

50-ish (I think 53) takedowns in a super class road rage in Burnout 3, without crashing once. Eventually the game ended due to a whole host of minor scratches and bumps on my car instead of one spectacular crash. Took such focus that I had to lie down afterwards as my heart was just going nuts. Good times though.

Playing Transformers: War for Cybertron, online, PS3.
So the Soldier class has a mininuke killstreak thing- it basically kills everyone within a large radius.
My team had to get a bomb to the enemy base, and we would win the game.
The entire enemy team was lined up, protecting their base.
An enemy soldier had the killstreak, and fired the mininuke at my team. It would kill us all.

So I, being a very fast Scout class, transformed into a car, and went screaming headfirst into the mininuke just as the Soldier fired it. It killed me and the soldier's entire team, saved my team, and allowed us to plant the bomb and win.

Afterwards, they were all, "Ohhhhhh shit, it's a superhero!"

TL;DR: Guy fired bomb, I blocked bomb, died, but saved my team and won the game.
Quite sure that qualifies you as a hero. Congrats =P

OT: Accidentally sticking my best mate with Semtex in a game of TDM on Black Ops, then frantically telling him to run towards the closest group of enemies. Damn it was funny and awesome.

1st thing that get's to my mind:

Resident Evil 4
and this is only for those who played the game, to keep it short

Shoot the bell, both Garadors run into the wall, get their claws stuck and stand next to eachother.
I shoot sideways with 1 bullet through both parasites on their backs. Awesome shot, nobody saw it :/
Nice. If there were achievement points for RE4 I would have 100%'d it, though that was partially due to the lack of decent titles for the gamecube.

OT: Finishing Ocarina of Time was the first time getting to the end was more than just a "there. finished it". A genuinely epic moment

There was also the time I hammered the Combine into my own personal slave race, jammed a bunch of antlion pheremones up G_Man's ass, hogtied and dropped him on the beach, then settled down at a country retreat to make a passel of brilliant and beautful coffee coloured children with Alyx.

I may have dreamed one of those.

Beating Emerald Weapon in FFVII for the first time. Ruby was a big moment too, but more of a grind. Beating Emerald was just plain beautiful.

There was also my first time playing Rainbow Six: Vegas. I picked a sniper in an office/vault area, a guy runs through the door I'm sprinting for, I shoot and get a headshot, without stopping. I laughed my ass off, then proceeded to die many many times..
