Astoria, Queens was the main filming location for the move A Bronx Tale. In fact, much of the movie was filmed right in front of my building.

Probably for being close to the place where Robert Pickton murdered 30 prostitutes and had their remains fed to pigs.

We had an unexploded WW2 bomb about 10 years ago that was destroyed via a controlled-explosion.
Isambard Kingdom Brunel built a huge archway bridge here, his house that he lived in at the time is grade II listed and has since had a pub built around it.

egh, there are a few places I consider a hometown besides my native portree, so...a short list off the top of my head.

Portree: not much to ones outside of the UK other than being founded by a viking prince, and birthplace of Clan Donnald

Nara: best known for it's shrines, temples, and palaces and place in japans history as it's former capital

Spokane: the birthplace of " fathers day" , spokane falls, hosted a worlds fair, and last year the spokane chiefs made headlines all over the US, and Canada for breaking the memorial cup trophy after winning it.

yeah nothing too too too exciting, but those places I consider to be home towns in my life, and will die happy living in any one of them.

Chicago-Wrigley Field, Cubs, White Sox, deep dish pizza, Chicago style hot dog, italian beef, Al Capone, Navy Pier, and there are more but I don't feel like putting them down.
Welcome to the club of about 7 or 8 people who live in or around Chicago and frequent The Escapist.

Technically I live in one of the suburbs, which is famous for absolutely nothing, but if you count Chicagoland as Chicago, I get to count all the stuff she counted. Also, we have the second most Polish people of any city in the world, number one is Warsaw.

EDIT: Okay, after checking the Wikipedia page on my town, Arlington Heights is the largest Village in the US, suck on the Schaumburg, last I checked number two was just the first looser!

We also have several sports players from my town, including a soccer(football) player for the US Olympic team named Brian McBride, and an NFL punt and kick returner for the Baltimore ravens named Tom Zbikowski, and both of them went to my high school.

also Ted Nugent went to a high school in my village. if you really care just look up Arlington Heights on Wikipedia.

Blink-182 (the original 3) graduated from my high school. Don't believe what Wikipedia says they lies (Unsurprising)

A bunch of NFL and MLB stars. We actually sat next to the Mets 3rd baseman during my Sisters HS graduation.

Other then that, theres NOTHING here and all the kids are either rich moronic preps and/or stoners

Just looked up my town, which is called Plaquemine in Louisiana. This is what I got from it.

"Plaquemine, located in Iberville Parish, is a progressive city that also happens to be an architectural lover's dream, with its tremendous variety of architectural styles and antebellum gems."

"The community is older than the United States, and National Geographic has documented Indian settlements in Plaquemine from well over 1,000 years ago. In fact, peaceful Bayou Plaquemine got its name from the Illonis Indian tribe word ?Piakemine,? which means persimmon, because of the abundance of persimmon trees growing along the bayou."

London? What isn't it famous for?
being good
Go back to 'shit-hole-small-town' or wherever you're from.
since when is a small town a bad thing?

and stop being such a humorless, arrogant twat, all i did was answer a question you asked
Didn't anyone teach you not to answer rhetorical questions?
Oh, and how am I being a 'humorless, arrogant twat'?
You don't know me- you aren't familiar with any of my past threads.

ok how the hell am i to know if it was bein rhetorical or not?

your being humorless because you couldnt take it as a simple joke

arrogant because you think londons amazing compared to everything else ( from what i understood from your post)

also now your saying i have to look up all your past threads to find out what your like? have you ever heard of first impressions

note: if this is just one hilarious missunderstanding then hugs and kisses :D:D

Lucky.
At least you don't live where Lindsay Lohan was born.

Yeah, just where David Shwimmer (that Ross guy from Friends and the Wiener Captain from Band of Brothers) and Lucy Lu were born. (think that makes up our famous population.)
