I'm all about the JRPGs, they're what really got me into gaming after playing games casually through the early 90s. Do they have their annoying tropes? Sure, but it's not like any other genre of games is free of those, and even modern JRPGs tend to come across as campy, intentionally or otherwise, when they're at their worst.

Second favorite are historical sim turn based fantasy. Romance of the three kingdoms, Nobunaga's ambition, and the like. History may have lousy, anticlimactic endings, but the stories up to that point are pretty epic!

WRPGS are okay, though they suffer from flaws that, compared to the flaws of jrpgs, are a bit more annoying to me, personally, such as love of grimdarkness and conflating sex and nudity with maturity. Still, WRPGs have had a good console generation with me so far, each year I've played one that pleasantly surprised me. (DA: I, and the Witcher 3, respectively)

Fighting games and sports games are also okay with me. I never developed the intense hatred of sports that seems to be so common among gamers, I don't go out of my way to watch them, but I played them often enough as a child to enjoy simulating the experience now that I'm older and a tad lazier. Fighting games I was mostly uninterested in until my navy days, when I made a few friends who were into the hardcore streetfighter scene, and, well, there's a lot to be said for having friends who play the same game you do.

As for my least favorite genres? Hmm... military fps and any game that's entirely focused on online multiplayer. Couch co-op is one thing, but my handful of experiences with the MOBA and online fighting game commmunities was enough for me to realize that I really... REALLY don't enjoy playing games that require the participation of strangers to function. Plus, online-focused games tend to need to have very weak stories by default, and I'm very much on the "story" side of the "more story or more gameplay" debate. I love good mechanics, but even if a game is made out of liquid crack I'll get bored of it in 20 minutes without some sort of story to follow.

Regarding military fps... well, I'm neither a jingoist nor an enthusiast of military technology, so they really have nothing to offer me.

I like all kinds of RPGs and FPSs. I'm not a fan of third person shooters and "action-adventure" games in general, although if they're done well I will often enjoy them. I really dislike MOBAs and RTS games.

Favorite: RPGs, either western or JRPG.

Least favorite: Sports games.

I was trying to decide between sports and racing games for least favorite thinking about what defines "sports" because there are plenty of competitive games that involve scoring points and all that. Then I remembered that the fun games I was thinking of are called party games, so sports became easily my least favorite.

I can like pretty much anything if done right from Civ V to l4d to GTA V.

Only things I can't stomach are sports games and adventure games (although Snatcher and Gemeni Rue are exceptions). I find the gameplay in adventure games to be way too counter intuitive to get any enjoyment out of. The solutions that are on the screen are not necessarily the solutions that the programmers allow you to have and I hate that. I'd much rather watch no-commentary gameplay on youtube. In fact, I got tons of enjoyment watching taletells walking dead and A Wolf Among Us on the 'tube but trying to "play" them was absolute agony.

RTS and I guess MOBA. I am completely shit at them, I just don't have the brain power to be aware of a billion things at once.

I'm not a big fan of multiplayer FPS's either. But that's more because I have never liked PVP in games, I have nothing against FPS otherwise.

Least favourite genre that i do actually play from time to time, would be FPS games. I just can't get into them, and haven't been able to since the very first Wolfenstein3D. Exceptions to the rule being bioshock games, and hybrids like Fallout 3. Haven't managed to get grabbed by fallout 4 yet, i'm wondering if i just burned myself out on the play style last gen, and haven't got over the fatigue yet.

Favourite games would now have to be what are dubbed Soulslike games. Including all 4 or the FromSoft ones obviously. It is a new kinda genre and i am loving all the new versions that are coming out. DarkMaus looks amazing and i have to pick that up soon.

Love RPG's action RPG's in general though. And good fast paced platformers

Most favourite- RPG (nuff said)

Least favourite- Sport and racing. I do like watching sport and racing in real life. Granted the only time I liked them is when it has a specific theme to it like F-Zero.

My favourites are RPGs, especially big open world ones, and simulators of various kinds, especially old school scifi sims like the old Mechwarrior games.
My least favourite games are FPSs, especially fast paced run-n-gun twitch shooters, and sports games.

Favorite genre: Survival Horror. Specially those that don't rely on scare-jumps only, and those that don't end up being action games with horror coating.

Least favorite genre: sports and any multiplayer-only subgenre.

My favorite genres would be:
RPG's
Strategy
Whatever Telltale is

I can play just about anything, as long as there's a story. I like to take my time and think. Dark Souls has a certain strategy to its combat. It's not flashy at all, but there's plenty of substance. It's like the anti-final fantasy. I also love hard hitting strategy games that fuse strategy and tactics. I like having to manage resources over a long campaign. That's why I love XCOM and Total War. By comparison, I can't stand Starcraft style resource management.

My least favorite are:
Puzzles
Pay2win freemium games

I can't stand puzzle games. The puzzles are either really easy distractions that distract from the action, or tough as nails heads ratchets that I don't have patience for. I only play plot heavy puzzle games, and I always look up the answers. I also hate mobile games that feed off of addiction. They're horrible immoral, and represent everything wrong with gaming.

I always thought of them as metroidvania games. They're very similar, design wise. Just add some Ico, Shadow of the Collossus, and and a few RPG elements.

If I was to be very general (and I will be) favourite are RPGs and Fighters (tend to flip between the two but probably RPGs if I really had to make a call) while my least favourite are Sports games (as I have zero interest in traditional sport) and Racing games (zero interest in motorsports and cars as well).

There are definitely RPGs and Fighters I dislike or even despise and there are still sports games and racing games I like although none that I love.

I love RPGs. Usually I love the stories that they have or the gameplay that they offer, so I always make sure that when someone releases some form of dedicated RPG, I keep my eye on it until it comes out.

While I don't hate them in form, I hate it when an RPG comes out that revolves around stealth. I have nothing against the genre. I'm just no good at it. I have to do everything so slowly that it metaphorically hurts me to think about it.

What game genre do I like the least? Well, walking simulators seem like something that I would hate, but I've only played walking simulators made by Davey Wreden, so I can't say that with all honesty. Isometric games usually get on me plums, so to speak, but Grim Dawn has gripped me by the nads for some reason and Bastion is one of my favorite games of all time, so that's not an option. If I had to give an honest answer, I'd say Isometric RPGs. You know the ones. The one in the vein of Baldur's Gate and PLanescape: Torment. There is something so disconnecting from the experience as staring at what is supposed to be your character from above, waiting and hoping that they actually manage to land a hit on an enemy, despite missing the last 3 times in a row and they critting you twice in the fight. I wanted to like Pillars of Eternity, I really did, but the gameplay is so BOOOOOOORING that I just uninstalled it and reinstalled Vermintide instead.

Love everything, except JRPGs (don't hate them, just never played them) and clickfests like Dragon Age, WoW, etc.
