No it wouldn't bother me, but I can never take a girl whose name is Sophie seriously (I know one) I'm sorry but it's hard when they share a name with my dog!

You've never heard of someone named Virginia? That's quite common here in the South.
Nope.avi

A common name down here appears to be Lauren. But hey. I was raised in MacclesField, Manchester, London and blackpool with an Irish-ish fanily.

Well my mums name is Angélique, and that isn't common here in Scotland...In fact, she may be the only one. Also if I have a gf called Richard the name isn't all I should be worrying about.

It would be odd. Particularly if she had the same name as my dad. Though I can't really be picky in my situation. My sister's boyfriend has the same name as our dog so we call him "Big Ollie" and the dog "Little Ollie" to avoid hilarious confusion. "Has Ollie had his tea?" was confusing at times.

It would be worse if it was your pet's name. My last dog's name was Roger, for example. Then that would be a bit odd.

Roger was my dad's name.

On-topic:

- Debbie (my mom's name)
- Candice (a very long story about a relationship gone horribly, horribly wrong)
- Rhiannon (my ex-wife's name)

Any of those three would probably freak me out just enough that I wouldn't be able to move on a girl.

I don't think it would cause issues and if it did I could just give her a nickname.

I refer to my mother as "mom", so I don't really associate her actual name (Victoria) strongly with her. Her middle name (Suzanne/Suzy) I associate a bit more strongly with her than her first, because most people call her by that, but I still would go out with someone named that. It would be supremely idiotic to not go out with someone cause their name was the same as someone else's name.

Not really.
Though I do know someone who's girlfriend has the same name as his dad. And he also grew up calling his dad by name rather than dad (not because they had a falling out, just because they wanted to). So yeah, that's kind of weird. They're both named Ashly (perhaps different spelling).

A name is a label.

What that label MEANS is entirely up to the person who owns it. If a man named Poo-bucket finds the secret to perpetual energy, I will hardly think less of him because of his name.
