Seriously, why are people talking about this game like it has any merit at all?? Its such garbage, ranks right up there with Tao Feng and Too Human as far as worst purchases of games I've ever made...

Wow, people talking about skill and such in reference to smash bros? lol.
Uh, playing smash even remotely competitively is extremely skillful.

Just to execute stuff this is what is required in melee:

All three games have a large number of options, which each of those options beating a unique set of the opponent's options.

And the amount of reads/attempted reads per minute in both is staggering, especially because of the lack of true combos in both games (as in, there are few, not none), which means each link requires a read to continue.

Joke Character: Ike
Yeah, he's a pretty bad character due to his abysmal speed, but it's just so fun whenever you land a forward-smash.
hes not that bad if you know how to compensate for his speed you just have to know how to use him one on one. For example you never use his over smash ever and you use his a combo alot its decently powerful but more important its fast. its also smart to kill them in the air with his up air since its so strong and easier to land also his up smash is great since it hits with great range on both sides and upwards.

I too have played the games since the series began ^^ I've always been a Link-er
I have never really liked his movement style hes to stiff for me but I briefly used young link in melee I would use alot of projectiles to set my opponents up for smashes. Personally I have always used pikachu all the way through but I liked him most in number 1 I found they nerfed him in melee but hes really decent in brawl again.

He's a mid tier character, and that's incorrect, his f-smash is usable off a hard read (it eats most spot-dodges for example).

Oh, and jab is god tier.

Mr Game and Watch all day long. It's been awhile since I've played, but G&W was always my main. His Turtle move is surprisingly damaging, with a really unusual hitbox to boot.

Failing him, Wario. Just because.

Ike
Sonic
Fox/Falco/Wolf
Lucario

That's my main team in Subspace Emissary, in that order, while in multiplayer I pick one of those six at random. Also, I miss Mewtwo and Roy. Ike has beaten Roy in terms of usefulness (barely) but Lucario falls a bit short of Mewtwo's greatness.

I have only one character the random button, I always pick random, why? mainly because I don't have the game and I only get to play it at a friend's house and since the characters from melee don't work like in melee I just click random also it's great fun to get a character that you would never choose like Pink Dedede and kick everyone's ass with it by accident, though I only win like 1 match out of 20.

Nah, the only things he really has going for him are his jab 1-2-3 and his forward smash. His jab is quite fast and powerful indeed (Though don't expect to kill anything for a very long time due to certain techniques unless you're standing near the edge) and his forward smash is usable off a hard read (as Adumbrodeus mentioned), but he's just plain mediocre in every other way. He has it incredibly difficult against good fast characters (MK or even Diddy) and stands no chance whatsoever against good keepaway/zoning characters (Falco) who knows what he/she's doing. There is a reason why Ike's never show up on tourneys.

He's not a horrible character such as Ganondorf, mind you, but he's simply nothing special. The Top/High tier characters are definitely in the advantage.

1. Lucario
2. Bowser
3. Mr. Game & Watch

If I ever went to a competition I'd stick with Lucario but Bowser has improved quite a lot since Melee. Also since my brother sticks with Link I will sometimes mock him by picking Toon Link and trying to beat him.

I remember spending most of my time (t)rolling with Kirby like the boss I am. When I wasn't using him I think I spent most of my time playing with Snake, Sonic or the Pokemoon Trainer

Yea, not really though. It is amusing to me to hear people talk about this game like its something more than the fighting game version of mario party...

Listen, I understand you've probably invested tons of time trying to hone "techniques" for this game but the truth of the matter is that this game suffers more than any fighter out there with the button masher syndrome. I can only see spending time tryin to build "skill" (lol) at this game as a complete waste of time because I haven't seen a fighting game that relies less on the player having actual talent than brawl. Its an irrelevant game on an irrelevant console.

SSBB huh?

Metaknight (I almost always play him, god tier ftw)
Snake
Diddy

(ok I am just kidding)

It would really be...

1. King DeDeDe
2. Luigi (been one of my fave chars since smash 64)
3. Toon Link
4. Squirtle

Those are my 4 fave characters. DeDeDe is the one I use most since he is the strongest of the 4.

Although honestly I prefer melee, and i've played smash64 more than both melee and brawl (pikachu is god tier on that game).

1. Lucario
2. Zelda (never Sheik)
3. Dedede
4. Link
5. Sonic

All with such different playstyles, too. Though generally I win through very defensive battles of attrition, which Lucario (obviously), Link and Dedede are good for. If I play Zelda or Sonic, it's usually an air-based guerilla tactic, using Sonic's homing attack or Zelda's ridiculously powerful jump kick. Though I can also play a really good defensive game with Zelda just holding my ground in one place as long as I can.
