1. Axis Powers Hetalia

This series is my current favorite. It began as webcomic and was picked up to be animated. It is a comedy that revolves around World War two as the primary "storyline" but then has tons of other strips for lots of other historical events (for example, they did the American Revolution and the Austria War of Succession). Every country is represented by a anthropomorphic character. It is not a series for the easily offended though. It makes fun of stereotypes a lot. For example, America is a tall, blond-haired, blue-eyed guy who is crazy strong but has no concept of geography and loves to eat cheeseburgers and he's always talking about aliens and building giant robots to protect the earth. He is always bickering with England, who obsesses about drinking tea and is convinced he can work black magic. Poland can't screw in lightbulbs by himself and sometimes he cross-dresses, Italy is always crying for Germany to help him, and Russia terrifies everyone except America, who is completely oblivious to him.

2. Gankutsuou: The Count of Monte Cristo

This is one of those series that I can watch over and over again. Fantastic storytelling, incredible art, mind-blowing style. It's a really amazing interpretation of the story.

3. Speed Grapher

A surprisingly awesome series. This one came out of nowhere for me. But it's dark and gritty and intriguing and I liked it.

4. Baccano!

This series is about New York City mobsters during the Prohibition Era. So it's this weird mix of hilariously strange humor, supernatural happenings, and extremely graphic gore. The music is all twenties jazz and swing, the animation is great and the characters are fantastic.

5. And I am a fan of cute Azumanga Daioh. Because that series never gets old. And Hellsing. Because it's Hellsing and Crazy Alexander amuses me.

For the last goddamn time, the plural of anime is anime.

1. Naruto, The first anime I really got into.
2. Love Hina, It got me into the Harem genre.
3. Negima, It seemed like something I loved, Harem comedy, but then it turned into something I loved more, Shonen Fighting.
4. TTGL It made me believe in the me that believes in myself, for mine is the drill that creates the heavens.
5. Clannad It made me cry for the first time in 4 years.

RahXephon is seriously the best anime I've seen in my entire life. I've seen a fair amount of anime, too.
Looks pretty good. I'll check it out.

Anyway, in no particular order:

Mushishi
Eureka 7
Samurai Champloo
GTO
Gundam 00 / Code Geass (tie)

I personally enjoyed Gundam 00 more than Code Geass during their first season, but part way through the second season Gundam 00 started to wane, while Code Geass continued to flourish until it hit possibly the best ending to any anime I have ever seen.

4)*Cough*Lucky Star*Cough*
5)Neon Genesis Evangalion

PS I would have put NGE higher, but the last two episodes were.... I mean what the Hell?

PPS AND SHUT UP ABOUT LUCKY STAR. IT'S A GUILTY PLEASURE, LOOK IT UP.

PPPS I'm actualy looking for recomendations, so looking at my top five, maybe someone could give me a few...?
I know what u mean Neon Genesis Evangelion would have been my number 2 if it wasn't for the fact that the ending only tied up one loose end and let the rest dangle and the fact that the ending of the movie is my number 1 WTF moment. also I know what u mean about Lucky Star it's a bit of a guilty pleasure for me as well. I would recommend for u Serial Experiments Lain, but then again I would recommend that to anyone, the thing about this show is there isn't alot of action actually theres no action but in my opinion it more than makes up for that with the unorthodox but beautifully sureal art style, which uses things like color and lighting to make the entire show feel almost dream like, and also completely emerged me in the story because it doesn't use lengthy exposition or monologues to explain major plot points but rather lets the audience explain the plot points themselves by involving in the story, which can cause a lot of confusion ur first time around, but if u need flashy stimulating lights and fast moving fight scenes to keep u interested prepared to be bored to death.

OT:
1.Serial Experiments Lain- look up I just explained why I love this show
2.Ergo Proxy- Has alot to say about society and man kind while still having good character development intriguing side stories and characters, well done fight scenes, and uses one of my favorite songs of all time as the ending song.
3.Elfen Lied- messages about alienation in society while having intense blood and gore. oh yeah it made me cry like a little baby at the end with how attached to the characters I got. oh and did I mention enough underage nudity to make a pedophile feel ashamed and jokes about taking advantage of a retarded girl, but seriously this is a great show... moving on.
4.FLCL(Fooly Cooly)- a nice little coming of age story involving extremely creative fight scenes usually with guitars and giant robots. oh yeah and my second favorite soundtrack of all time.
5.Cowboy Bebop- think about the coolest thing you can now if its not cowboy bebop go hurt yourself preferably with a hammer. my favorite sound track and opening of all time great cut scenes an interesting story and a good mix between comedy, action and drama make this show great. though because of its episodic nature it does lack in character development it more than makes up for it with pure style and coolness.

Edit: oh yeah honorable mention-
Paranoia Agent
Higurashi No Naku Koro Ni
NGE
Gurren Laggan
Gundam The 08Th MS Team
Lucky Star(shut up this show was good)
yu yu Hakusho
Hellsing Ultimate
Lupin 3RD (everything after the first 3 episodes of the green jacket series)

FLCL (Fooly Cooly)
Hellsing (which ever one is most connected to the original manga)

That's the only good anime I've seen, my friend is trying to slowly cure my anime hate (that came from 4Kids/FOX Kids/w/e it is now), next on his list is WitchHunter Robin, Tri-Gun, full metal alchemist, and evangleon.
